BeautyFIX – 2021 In Review

BeautyFIX is an expertly curated beauty box that I was lucky to start reviewing in January 2021. I quickly fell in love with the variety of professional products and truly enjoyed learning about each brand. The best part is that BeautyFIX introduced me to some of the products that saved my skin in 2021 and hopefully will continue to keep me glowing into this new year! Ready to take a peek back at what we received this past year? Let's dive in!

What BeautyFIX Got Right in 2021

Brands

BeautyFIX and Dermstore.com know how to bring an amazing curation of quality brands month after month. I knew that this box was going to work for me when my Dermatologist recommended shopping at Dermstore for some of the best products that would truly help my skin. Some of the top brands we saw this year were Sunday Riley, Yon-Ka Paris Skincare, Christophe Robin, and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare to name a few.

Quality and Value

At $24.95 a month, this box brought the value with quality products each month. Even if a month doesn't hit the $100 guaranteed value, it usually comes pretty close, and that is great for the monthly price. I found that even if I wasn't receiving a ton of full-size products each month, the value was still there for me in terms of the quality products that were featured. I love testing products, but I want to know going into a subscription that I am going to be receiving quality items each month, this box really knows how to bring both quality and value which is why I love it so much!

What I Would Like to See in 2022

For 2022, I would love to see more consistency all around. So many boxes this year suffered shipping delays all around and everyone did their best to fix those delays. My boxes from January to March blew me away, and then suddenly my box delivers fell off. I would love to see more consistent deliveries and communication around any potential delays. I would also love to see more consistency around product sizes. BeautyFix guarantees a mix of full and deluxe travel sizes, but a lot of reader feedback this year pointed to the inconsistency in how many full-size products were arriving.

My Favorite Products from BeautyFIX in 2021

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant, 0.5 fl oz. – Retail Value $10.00

From January 2021:

I feel as though I am constantly talking about Paula's Choice and this product in particular, but it really has changed my skin! I use it still at least once a week sometimes twice if my skin is in bad shape. This is a liquid gel made with glycolic acid to gently and naturally, shed built-up layers of dead skin. It helps with uneven skin tone, smoothes the appearance of wrinkles, and will create smoother, firmer-looking skin over time. This works really well on my sensitive skin as well, which I think is why I fell so hard for it, but it really helps with my extreme dry patches and blemishes.

Bioderma Hydrabio Serum, 0.17 fl oz. – Estimated Value $3.43 (buy 1.33 fl oz. for $27.99)

From January 2021:

This was another January product that changed my skin! When I say that, I really do mean it because my skin was in such a bad place (it was really bringing down my self-esteem) but this box alone seemed to turn things around for me. This serum is made with nourishing niacinamide and Glycerin to gently alleviate dryness, dehydration while providing soothing comfort to the skin. It is very cooling so it is great to apply at night to rehydrate your skin and provide a strong layer of moisture through the night, but it also works really well as a base for your makeup. The product is light but it really packs a big punch of hydration!

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt, 40 mL – Estimated Value $7.20 (buy 250 mL for $53.00)

From January 2021:

If you have been following my reviews then you know how much my husband also loves helping me test products so I thought it would be fun to add HIS favorite product from the year. This scrub is amazing for people that don't wash their hair every day and need a good clean without stripping their hair. My husband still buys this scrub because he loves it that much and how it makes his long locks feel!

SkinCeuticals Phyto Plus, 4 ml – Estimated Value $11.60 (buy 30 mL for $87.00)

From February 2021:

I thought that I was in the clear of any sun damage or hyperpigmentation when I received this product last February, but by June I started noticed some sun spots. Around that same time was when I started seeing a dermatologist who actually receommended Dermstore to me, and she suggested that I try this product once I told her I had a sample of it. All you have to do is spot treat your skin with one to two drops to see an overall smoothness and brightness over time. I can safely say that this product really does work and has helped to lighten some dark spots that were starting on my cheeks back in June.

PCA Skin Purifying Mask, 0.25 oz. – Estimated Value $7.75 (buy 2 oz. for $62.00)

From March 2021:

At the time, this mask felt like a lot for my skin. Then I started using it once a month and it really helped to improve the overall look and texture of my skin. Using it once a month worked really well for my sensitive skin and it almost gave me this exfoliation and detox that my skin needs once a month. The mask is made with red algae and French red clay to purify your skin. Red wine extract, vitamin A and E soothe skin while neutralizing free radicals. These all together help to create an even skin tone, stimulate cell turnover, and boost clarity. That is what I love about beauty boxes, something might not be what it seems until you give it a bit of a chance over time.

Who Do I Recommend BeautyFIX For?

BeautyFIX is the perfect subscription for any skincare lover. If you are excited by ingredients and the best ways to utilize a product then this box really is for you! This subscription will bring a variety of products that are curated to help improve your skin, so the products might require a bit more work and research but it is a box that is results-oriented. If you love trying new products and learning as you go, then this is the ideal box for you! I love the discovery process in skincare, so each month brings this new wonder and adventure.
