slip vs. Silvi: Battle of the Silk Pillowcase

Sick of your cotton pillowcase being the root of your acne, bad hair days... and even wrinkles? I don't know about you, but I was shocked when I learned that my pillowcase was the root cause of all my woes. Who knew I could up my skin & hair game in my sleep ... literally. After seeing Silvi and slip all over TikTok (apparently I'm on the silk pillowcase side of TikTok... the dustmites are quite convincing), I knew I had to make a switch. The question was: Which one? Lucky for you, I did my diligence so you don't have to. Here's what I found...

If you want a silk pillow that won't break the bank.. Silvi

I'm a girl that loves luxury as much as the next... but I'm also a girl who loves champagne on a beer budget. Seeing as though my pillowcase is an everyday use kind of item PLUS my face goes on it, I'm happy to splurge a little bit. Silvi's pillowcases are $60 for standard size or $67 for a king size, but if you buy in bulk (if I'm outfitting my bed, I may as well get for all of my pillows), you get a discount. They also offer free shipping!

slip, on the other hand is $89 for the standard size and don't even have king sizes available. If you happen to get lucky and find one that's on sale, chances are you won't meet the free shipping minimum of $70. This round is a no-brainer, Silvi wins by a long shot.

If you want a pillowcase specifically designed to prevent acne... Silvi

What really hooked me on Silvi was their video of the silver ions deflecting the acne bacteria. Recently I've been struggling with some breakouts, so anything I can do to get my skin back to its usual ~glow~ I'll try. Apparently, silver ions bind to bacteria to prevent them from reproducing. AKA, fewer clogged pores and breakouts. I'm not going to lie, I was quite skeptical about whether this would actually work... but then it did. As comfy as the slip pillowcase was, it didn't nearly have the same impact on my skin as Silvi did.

If you're looking for the best fabric... Silvi

Here's the tea: Silvi and slip are both made of 100% Mulberry silk with 6A long fibers - the highest quality rating. They both have a 22 momme thickness and no artificial chemicals. Both are also machine washable, saving you from a pesky dry cleaning bill (we all know those things can add up FAST).

For the most part, the competition is pretty neck and neck. However, where Silvi pulls ahead in the race is the silver ions they attach to the silk. Not only does it repel acne, but the silver actually keeps the pillowcase fresher for longer, meaning you only need to wash it every 10-14 days. It was almost a photo finish, but Silvi really pulled it out in the end.

If you want the most color/pattern options... slip

I've got to hand it to slip, they really have some feeling fun colors and patterns. If you're looking for cheetah print or hot pink, this is your way to go. That said, if you won't want to pay the extra $30 for a different color, Silvi has lots of neutrals and even a tie dye option. Personally, I'd rather save the money and buy a more neutral color, but you do you, babe!

If you want to sleep soundly knowing you have the best guarantee... Silvi

Silvi has a pretty incredible guarantee: you can sleep on their pillowcases for 100 nights. If you aren’t totally in love, you can send back your used pillowcase for a full refund. slip, on the other hand, offers no such trial. While they noted on their website that you're able to make returns if you receive a damaged item, I wasn't able to find anywhere a guarantee or any info about plain ole' regular returns. Silvi really takes the cake on this one.

Where I'll Be Laying My Head From Now On... Silvi

Silvi was my favorite of all of the silk pillowcases I have ever tried. The gorgeous color options, luxe silk, and its special silver ion treatment make it feel like sleeping on a magical little cloud. And the added benefits of smoother hair and clearer skin? I dread ever sleeping without one.
