I just read through these reviews and had to say something. Back when New Hobby Box was a subscription service, I loved it. The entire idea was getting something new everymonth to try and it was great. I like some of the other people posting didn't understand why I was charged and then didn't receive my box for weeks so sent an email and they explained that it's because boxes are all sent once per month and people are given the chance (a month) to opt out of a box if they didn't like the theme. Made a lot of sense to me but I still feel like this is why they went from offering subscriptions to just selling kits. People not reading what they signed up for ruining it for the rest of us.

The lockpicking box is my favorite so far. I didn't know I would enjoy learning this skill so much... I like how the box varies - it let's me try things I normally wouldn't consider. Also seems like a strong value as far as the items go.

I love this box! It's very different from any other that I've seen.

Have to add another ringing voice to the reviews below. I ordered the box as a gift for a friend, was not aware it would auto-renew after three months (as a gift? Strange.) Contacted customer service explaining the mix-up asking for a partial refund for the two unsent boxes. I heard nothing for three weeks, was told I would be contacted after posting on their Facebook. Didn't hear anything, and tried to follow up again. That's when they messaged me that I was threatening them, and they blocked me. Easily the worst customer service I have ever received, and I've had Comcast. AVOID.

Avoid this one!! It's a scam. They take your $40, and send you less than $10 worth of total junk. They DO NOT CARE if you complain. I asked if I could send back my geocaching box, and they didn't even bother to respond. I'm thinking about pursuing it with my bank. The contents of the box made me laugh out loud. They were so bad. It looks like an assortment of kids' prizes from the dentist's office. They have charged my credit card for two boxes, and I have only received one. I imagine I will get some more junk when they get around to mailing it. Seriously, don't give them your money. You will be sorry. Complete Inventory of the Geocaching box: 1 Cheap Bright Orange Fanny Pack 1 Tiny Flashlight with AA battery 1 Pink Plastic Whistle 1 Tiny Compass (the kind you can buy in lots from Oriental Trading Co) 6 Plastic dinosaurs 1 Button - like a tiny campaign button 1 Plastic Case - I'm not sure what it's for 1 Tiny notebook I'd say this is generously about $8 worth of stuff.

The worst customer service ever! I had very similar experiences as listed by others. I wish I had seen reviews like this before I ordered this for my sister-in-law. Very disappointing! I will won’t be surprised if they go out of business. You can’t mistreat customers and survive in this competitive market.

Do not waste your time with this one. The boxes come with very cheap supplies at an exorbitant rate. $37 per box for something I could buy at a craft store for $10. They do not include instructions so you have to go online and learn about how to use the kit - inconvenient. Not to mention, I NEVER received an email from them announcing the upcoming month's box. Meaning, last month I got their fishing hobby box. I am a vegetarian who does not believe in hurting animals. But okay, that's fine, just email them asking if you can return it for a credit for the next box, right? WRONG. They refused to give me a refund or credit and said that "perhaps this subscription is not for you." Then, when I canceled my subscription in July, they proceeded to sent me August's hobby box anyway. When I emailed to tell them I already canceled the subscription, they claimed I was falsifying information and they could pass me on for fraudulent activity but I was simply "not worth the energy." I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a customer service department for requesting something that, quite frankly, was very reasonable and sound. Think twice before giving them your credit card at all because you'll just keep getting charged with no respect to you as a human being.

Fun box. I received it as a gift a few months ago. I've tried a couple different things I didn't think I would really enjoy, but actually found that they were fun and useful. My favorite month so far was the survivor themed month. Looking forward to January which is some sort of electronics theme. Recommend the box if you are looking to do something different.
