How I Balance Being a Busy Mom & Still Get Salon-Quality Hair Color at Home

I'm busy. You're busy. So let's cut to the chase.

  • I'm a mom with a full-time job and three kids under the age of 4.
  • I don't have time to go to the salon. (Plus I'm on a budget. Diapers aren't cheap.)
  • Madison Reed has been a lifesaver.

Here's why Madison Reed works for me:

My Hair Goals

I have an 8-month-old balayage going on that’s desperate for an overhaul. I've decided to go dark with the help of Madison Reed!

I really need something I can maintain with minimal time at a more realistic price – something I can do myself while my kids are taking their afternoon nap, yaknowwhatimean? I also want my hair to feel soft and shiny, something that’s increasingly hard with the Florida humidity.

Madison Reed checks all of these boxes for me by delivering rich, multi-dimensional color to my door, at an incredible price. Oh, and I can color my hair at home in about an hour. That’s the amount of time I’d usually spend just driving to get my hair done!

Achieving My Hair Goals At Home

I have heard SO many horror stories that ended in “you should’ve just gone to a salon” or “let the professionals do it next time.”

For many years, I was too intimidated to color my hair at home. I was worried I’d ruin my hair and embarrass myself. But then I found Madison Reed.

With Madison Reed, you’re applying permanent color to your hair – not lifting it as you would with bleach or peroxide–so you really can’t mess it up. You can use their “try it on” feature to see what different shades of hair color would look like on you, and you can even book a free video consultation with a licensed colorist to get shade advice.

The actual process of coloring is SO easy. Divide your hair into sections, apply barrier cream to your ears, forehead, and neck to prevent stains, then mix the activator and color together. Next apply the color to small sections of your hair, massaging it in. This process took me about 15 minutes total. Then, I put on the hair cap and set a timer for 35 minutes. After my hair has processed, I hop in the shower to rinse off the color and shampoo and condition my hair.

That’s it! We’re talking an hour, tops.

Look at this amazing result! I'm thrilled with how my color looks after using Madison Reed!

It's Not As Scary As You Think
