5 Signs It’s Time For a Wallet Upgrade – And What to Look Out For

Vintage looks inspire my choice of clothing on the motorbike, and I aim to look effortlessly presentable off the bike, too. My style is usually pretty minimal, with an emphasis on modern classics. But my old bifold wallet just wasn’t cutting it in terms of style, durability, or convenience – so I knew it was time for an upgrade.

Here are five signs it’s time to elevate your wallet game (and what to look out for when you’re in the market).

1). Your wallet is getting too bulky

Tired of carrying around a chunky wallet that looks like an unsightly bulge in your pocket? Yeah, me too. Bifold wallets have a tendency to bulk up quickly, while slimline styles are much better for a seamless look and feel.

Unlike most conventional bifold wallets, Ekster wallets aren’t bulky at all. With a slim profile (it’s smaller than most phones today), it slides neatly into any pocket, carrying everything I need. That makes it ideal for carrying all my essentials with me, whether I’m out for a ride or dressed up for a date with my girlfriend.

And if I do need a little extra capacity, my Ekster wallet has an expandable metal backplate that allows me to carry more while still maintaining a slim profile.

2). You’re fumbling around for cards

Whether it’s dark, you have cold hands, or your wallet is just disorganized, haven’t you had those moments when it’s hard to find the right card at the right time?

One of my favorite features of the Ekster wallet is the quick card access. Ekster’s unique card ejection mechanism makes pulling out a specific card so easy.

At the click of the button my cards quickly fan out, so I can grab what I need in a flash. No more fumbling through my wallet for the right card.

3). Your wallet’s falling apart

My old bifold wallet was falling apart. Like most wallets, which are used many times each day, the material just couldn’t stand up to the task anymore.

The Ekster Aluminium Cardholder I received is a smart wallet built from space-grade aluminum, which is incredibly durable. And the space-age style  pairs perfectly with my other favorite accessory: my OMEGA Speedmaster watch.

Other styles of Ekster wallets are made with top-grain leather, which is manufactured under strict environmental protocols for minimal impact on the planet, plus 3K carbon fiber so it stays in tip-top shape.

4). You’re susceptible to RFID theft

Helmet — check. Tough boots — check. Leathers — check. You get the picture: being prepared for a great and safe bike ride means taking sensible precautions with what you wear.

Well, my Ekster wallet also helps to keep my money safe wherever I go. It is specially designed to block radio-frequency identification (RFID) hacking, which means that thieves can’t wirelessly “break in” to your cards.

5). You’re losing your wallet all the time

We’ve all been there–a lost wallet is a headache and a time suck. Importantly, my new Ekster wallet is virtually unlosable. Just slip one of Ekster’s credit card-sized trackers into your wallet and stress no more. All you need to do is use your phone to see where you last had it on a map.

What’s also cool is that any Ekster product can be paired with this tracking technology. I’ve also used the ultra-slim tracker card in my backpack, providing two-way communication with my phone, which helps me always keep track of my valuables.

It’s time to upgrade

My Ekster wallet is capable of holding everything I need for a day on the road or a night on the town. Practical and cool, it fits in perfectly with my lifestyle–it’s by far my new favorite accessory.
