One of my greatest joys in life is discovering new products to try at the grocery store - so when I heard about Misfits Market, I knew I had to try it out.

If you haven't heard of Misfits Market already (where you have been?), it’s an offbeat grocery delivery service that rescues “ugly,” but otherwise high-quality food from ending up as food waste.

Not only is Misfits Market's food perfectly delicious, it's a lot cheaper and more convenient than shopping at the grocery store. That's because Misfits Market partners with handpicked farmers and suppliers to ship food straight to your front door. By cutting out the middleman entirely, customers can save up to 30% off regular grocery store prices -- and don't have to worry about the hassle of actually going to the store.

If I'm being honest, the best part for me has been browsing through the inventory of rescued items that include snacks made with upcycled ingredients and mismarked products.

Here are my top 4 niche finds so far:

1. Renewal Mill Upcycled Pumpkin Spice Cookie Mix

Now that it is fall and there’s a distinct chill in the air, I’m leaning into pumpkin spice everything. It’s a lifestyle, ok?

This gluten-free, vegan cookie mix is made using upcycled ingredients and was an absolute breeze to prepare. All I had to do was add oil, water, and preheat my oven, and I got to enjoy 24 of the best-tasting pumpkin spice cookies I’ve ever had.

Even my kids couldn’t get enough of them, and they’re pretty discerning spooky season lovers, too. 🎃

What I Liked: The quick and easy process. Plus, enjoying these cookies with a cup of tea = dream fall evening.

2. Imperfect Foods Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzel Pieces

Apparently, I’ve been making a tragic mistake for the last several decades of my life, because I’ve only ever bought whole pretzels covered with chocolate. While the regular whole pretzels are run through the coating process, many of them end up breaking. Usually, these pretzels would go to waste since they aren’t aesthetically pleasing, but Imperfect Foods had the ingenious idea of saving these broken pieces and turning them into a snack in their own right.

Why, you ask? Well, the smaller pieces covered in chocolate somehow achieve the perfect salt-to-sweet ratio we all crave when we’re reaching for a snack like this, and after trying these, I can now say without restraint that broken pretzel pieces encased in dark chocolate are even more delicious than the original. Who knew?

What I Liked: The little explosions of sweet, salty, and crunchy with each pretzel piece.

3. Sonoma Gourmet Street Corn Queso

If you’ve ever strived to recreate the magic that is walking down the street enjoying elote on a late summer evening, I’ve got some great news for you: there’s a dip for that. Sonoma Gourmet has somehow managed to capture the tanginess of an authentic elote and marry it with their creamy queso base. It’s seriously heaven.

I’ve dipped chips in this, drizzled it over grilled chicken, and added it to tacos. It’s so versatile—I can’t believe no one has ever thought to turn the elote experience into a dip before.

What I Liked: It's street corn in queso form. I liked everything about it.

4. La Boulangere Brioche Hot Dog Buns

My kids are definitely in that “only hot dogs, chicken fingers, and mac and cheese are acceptable dinner options” phase of life, and I’m always on the lookout for ways to make toddler-friendly meals a little more pleasing to my adult palate. Gourmet hot dog buns are just a small way I’m treating myself without straying too far from the hold that beige food has on my family’s menu.

These hot dog buns are not your average prepackaged roll, either; they’re made using an authentic French recipe and they taste like something I might have chosen from a bakery. And their utility isn’t limited to hot dogs, either—they’re an excellent vehicle for everything from kielbasa to a traditional Cuban.

What I Liked: The rich, buttery texture of the buns.

Add only $15 worth of items to order your first cart and discover new products!

Their order minimums start at $15 and shipping fees start at $5.99, but you can get free shipping when you order a certain amount (mine was $60). For such an affordable price, this food delivery service has me smiling into my meals and snacks daily. This is just a tiny sampling of some fun foods I’ve discovered, eaten, and enjoyed along with my favorite fresh produce from Misfits Market.

If you're like me and you embrace the unusual, you'll love the changing assortment, surprise items, and fresh (sometimes wonky!) produce.
