There’s a Subscription For That is a series spotlighting subscriptions the team at My Subscription Addiction finds interesting and is excited to share with readers.

Update: This subscription was a limited edition and has sold out — here's hoping the popularity means they'll open up more boxes!

By now you've heard all the jokes about millennials and their avocado love, right? That's me! I'm a millennial, and I love my avocados... so much that when I saw there was a new subscription box just for guacamole, I had to know how I could get it. Right NOW!

It turns out there's a National Avocado Day — why haven't I been celebrating this my whole life? — and to celebrate, the folks at Wholly Guacamole recently rolled out their first ever guacamole subscription box, called the Don’t Hit Guac Bottom! Each month guac lovers will get four different types of guac such as the classic, the spicy, the chunky, the fire-roasted hatch chile, and so on. A $39 subscription gets you six months worth of deliveries.

If you're wondering "why a guacamole box?" - let me drop some knowledge on you. In one year, America spends an average of $453 million on avocados. That's a lot of avocado toast... and guac! That estimate came from Haas Avocados, which is the brand Wholly Guacamole uses in each of its guacs.

Sure, you could technically go to the grocery store, buy some of the Wholly Guacamole in the refrigerated foods section, but then you'd probably miss out on the joy of discovery. Not to mention if you do the math, this subscription box is pretty darn cheap — at $39 for four guacs times six months, you are looking at about $1.62 per container of guacamole. While it's not clear how large the containers are, that's more than competitive with your local grocery store.

Intrigued? Here's what you'll want to know:

The Details:

  • Deliveries of guacamole are monthly, with four different guacs in each box.
  • A six-month subscription is $39 with an estimated value of $150+.
  • The box is on sale for a limited time via the City Girl Gone Mom site.

Now for the important question: If we get a guacamole subscription box, which snack subscription box will give us the chips we need for the perfect feast? Hmm ...

What do you think of the Don't Hit Guac Bottom subscription box?

I checked for this super early yesterday morning – the day it launched – and it was already sold out. I wonder how many they actually had available for purchase.

I saw after we posted that it’s sold out, and I am holding out hope that they open up more!

I doubt it. It must have been a very limited one day offer.
