Ipsy Glam Bag Plus spoilers for September 2021 are here.

On the bag:

September’s Glam Bag Plus is function meets fashion. “This bag is so roomie that it can fit everything that you’ll need for a full day of work (or school). I love to put my notebook and pens inside this pouch to work, so I won’t forget my important notes and creative ideas for meetings,” says Wong.

The design itself features a classic black an white plaid with bright pops of yellow within the print and nylon drawstring cords, making it an incredibly versatile accessory. Place the pouch in a farmer’s market tote or translucent bag to conceal clutter and make a colorful statement.

The full-sized version of the Ipsy Glam Bag, the Glam Bag Plus comes with five full-sized products every month, and you can add on up to 8 more items. We've got a look at the mix of products subscribers could get in September:

So last night I see a random charge come through for the Glam Bag Plus. I canceled in July, and haven’t renewed. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, were you able to get it resolved? I tried the Ipsy bot, because it was after hours…what a joke that was! Have you had better luck with email, or Instagram, etc.? I don’t hate this box, but I don’t need or want anything in it either. I’m not very happy!

I wouldn’t mind the price increase if they could get their stuff together and have it to me in a reasonable time frame.

September will be my last GBP. They lost me with the price increase.

Oooo…I’m so glad you mentioned that, I had totally forgotten about the price increase! I feel like they jacked up the price not that long ago, am I imagining that? Pretty sure they did and I didn’t notice any difference in the quality of my bag. Such a bummer because this is the only subscription I still get but I will not be sticking around for that price hike. I’m excited about the laura gellar foundation at least, it’s actually really good. I hope they get the shade correct!

It says fit a notebook in the bag. Did they make them bigger? Maybe a notepad in Previous ones but not a notebook.

I’ve been with ipsy since October of last year. Today I canceled my subscription. I’ve been given the runaround 9 times since joining. Not to mention I originally signed up to receive October’s bag and they didn’t have enough of them so I was sent Nov. Instead. Then in May my bag was short two items. They told me they’d send them, sent 2 totally different things, I contacted them about it and they sent the same 2 items again. I contacted them again and they tell me oh we didn’t have what you were supposed to get so we sent something similar. There are numerous other incidents. Then my August bag which just shipped this morning I’ve had an awful time with. For over a week now I had been trying to see why I didn’t even have tracking. I told them I feel like I’m not going to get all my items because when this happened in May, you said you didn’t have enough products. I was assured I’d be getting all my stuff including my point items. Yesterday I’m told they’re issuing a $5 refund because once again they didn’t have one of my products. As a customer I feel I should’ve been told this over a week ago when they were aware, and I even asked them if that’s what was up. Instead I was given very scripted copy and paste responses and excuses about loading docks being jammed and their shipping partners being backed up. (They hadn’t even made my bag at this point so I pointed out that none of that was relevant, and no one responded for 4 days) They very easily could’ve sent me an email saying they didn’t have the product and sent a list of other products to choose from and I would’ve been happy. I had to contact the BBB just to get ipsy to do anything at all. They lack integrity and honesty and they do not have enough products to keep up with supply and demand. Your bag is actually supposed to ship within 2 weeks of being billed according to their site, and they don’t honor that. Joining ipsy and dealing with all the issues I have had since last year is like being in a relationship with a narcissistic jerk who keeps promising you all these things, and then they do the bare minimum to keep you around. They acted like they did Mr a favor by giving me $5 back when I wanted my 5 items and should’ve been given a choice. They even went as far as lying on their Instagram when I called them out on what they’ve done to me in the comments. a few days ago. Oh and now they have increased their price again. Why on earth am I going to pay 28 when you can’t even get it right with me paying 26.50?? Goodbye ipsy!

The exact same thing has been happening to my best friend. I feel so bad telling her how great Ipsy is and encouraging her to sign up. They’ve been terrible the past few months!

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

I can cancelled my subscription as well. When they run out of your product they just don’t put anything in to replace it. You wait for your bag all month and are disappointed with missing items. Then they send you something else you have to wait on that is not even what you asked for. Ipsy has too many issues!

I’m mostly on your side here, with the exception of the statement, “[T]hey have increased their price again.” Glam Bag Plus has been $25 + tax since it launched, so this is their first GBP price increase.

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

Got an email. Plus going to $28 in October. Regular bag to $13. Bye, Ipsy.

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

I got the same email and I’m thinking I will probably let it go too

Jenny

Plus has been so boring the last few months. It’s the same brands and same products just swapped. Lip glosses every month, face wash, mascara, eyeliner… geez. I wish we could get some new brands like makeup revolution or bh cosmetics, or something like that.

Reply ButtonReply

Paula

I love skin care!!!! I could never afford these brands. This bag is great to me. Inside and out!

Reply ButtonReply

Whitney

I like the bag, and it definitely gives me Clueless vibes. I’m not really a big fan of the drawstring bags, I’d much rather the zippered bags like they did for the very first plus bag. But I use the drawstring ones for undies and socks when traveling, or I’ll stick bracelets and earrings in there. I’m liking the IL MAKIAGE palette, bc I get their concealer every 3 months and it’s a really great brand and they absolutely take care of their customers!! 🙂 I would love the Dragun beauty Lippe, but if I got it, it would be in some burnt orange disagree, bc that’s just my luck. I like the skincare brands as well, except the 111Skin. That’s one of those SYMBOSIS, and other SUPER expensive brands that Boxy gives us, where the ingredients listed on the peristaltic in our boxes, don’t match the ingredients listed on the actual products website……. SKETCHY MUCH?!?! Idk. I may pause Sept. If they go up again, so soon after the last price increase, I will cancel. Ive been with Ipsy since 2010, but when the value is no longer there, I can’t justify the money spent.

Kayla

I would love if Ipsy did this and made a subscription for face and skin care and than one for makeup and hair care and give people the option to say I just want all makeup or I would like one or two skin care products with makeup or whatever you would like I feel the bags are great but they do it old be cool if they gave us like hair ties or key chains instead if they had more options I think a lot more people would join

Reply ButtonReply

Andie

Me too! Ppl are sick of getting so much skin care from me…which is ok, there’s women’s shelters to give it to…but I want more makeup!

Reply ButtonReply

C

none of these!

I hate what’s happening to Ipsy. I finally had their system down to get the exact types of products I wanted, then choice came and I was happy. Sure, shipping was slow, but I accepted that-no biggie. Then came summer. They seemed focused more on skincare than make up. I’d say around March there was a marked change. Ipsy has been my favorite makeup sub throughout the years-going on 8-no, longer because it was because it was before they were called Ipsy, for me. It was fun watching them grow and climb. I feel I’m now watching them fall. I’ve been on pause since May (my first pause). Looks like that will continue through September. For those talking about the drawstring bags: I love them! I use them for so many things! ..but they’ve been having some ugly ones lately (not referring to Sept)

Don’t judge me, but I might actually subscribe because of the bag. I’m a fan of “Clueless” and this bag looks like Cher’s iconic yellow plaid outfit. I think the products look like it’s 50/50 whether or not I’d feel like I got my money’s worth, but I’m really loving the pattern on the bag. I wish there were more bag options though. I don’t have much use for a drawstring thing like this. I agree with others that the zip up makeup bags are way more useful but considering this is a Glam Plus, it would be nice to have an upgrade option for a nicer version of the bag, maybe something more structured or even more like an actual handbag.

JesCro

Definitely loving the Clueless vibe!

I think every time ipsy tries to do a new, bigger better box, like the curated, take over boxes… other boxes start to suffer. This box isn’t awful, but I don’t feel like it’s what plus boxes were when they started for me. And now thinking they might up the price again, I don’t think ipsy will be earning back me back for one last hurrah. They were my first sub box before it was a saturated market. I had such a hard time letting go at first, but every round of spoilers assures me, I did the right thing. Then, I get emails saying it’s baaed on my personal quiz, describing all of my personalized picks, and it WOULD be a bag full of brands and items I would love. But, the small print disclaimer at the bottom adds on that it’s a possibility and my bag would be different items. So, a bait and switch if I just tap 1 click reactivation. It’s so sad that’s what ipsy has become. It had so much promise when customization started.

These are pretty nice spoilers. Excited to see Nabla in an Ipsy bag – I really hope that gloss ends up in add-ons.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

I think the product choices are pretty solid, although there’s yet another 111 Serum. I don’t hate this one. And the bag is super cute – I may actually use it.

Reply ButtonReply

Kat

Have you compared 111 Serum ingredients from Ipsy to online/Store? It’s different. Maybe not every time, but a lot of us have noticed this in the last year. I’m sure they aren’t “bad”, but they aren’t the same product and Ipsy needs to be honest.💖

I came across a similar issue with the Dr. Brandt triple antioxidant cream on the Boxycharm site compared to the retailer’s site. I now check inky lists religiously for everything so I know what I’m putting on my body. As consumers we really need to hold these brands/sub boxes to a higher standard of transparency and accountability

Marion

Hmm. All my other comments from “5 hours ago” are posted, but not my longer one where I talk about the actual brands. 🤔 How exactly does this moderation of comments work, MSA?

Reply ButtonReply

echo

I replied with a fun proposal that MSA didn’t like.

You guys, bad news: A survey company that I get surveys from sent me one a few weeks ago that was clearly describing ipsy GBP. The photos were theirs and the sub was described as five full-size items, you get to pick three, and can have up to eight add-ons at a discount. The survey wanted to know whether I’d consider such a sub for the price of $28. ipsy is test-driving a price increase.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

Costs are going up. GP is going up to $13 and GBP to $28. I wouldn’t mind if that increase also saw a correlation to better shipping. Only time will tell.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I would pay the extra $3 but only if they stopped with the bags and gave an extra product.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

I think $25 is maxed out for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Amy E

If they raise the price, I’ll keep Ipsy Plus but I will cancel the regular ipsy. I wish they would get rid of these drawstring bags and give regular makeup bags though.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

Yeah, I like the zip bags and have found a use for all of them. The drawstring bags are put away in a drawer and doing nothing.

Alice

That will be the final nail to cancel. I’ve been skipping. Getting August, now I’ll cancel before September. I’m only keeping SeeNew and my beading subs.

Reply ButtonReply

Kimberly Gonzales

See New is awesome on all points. I skipped Ipsy for my first See New box this month

Cb

Hmm I’ve been thinking about dropping one of my subs lately but i’ve always justified keeping because of the decent price so if they up the price by three dollars that means it will probably be $31.75 or $32.75 for me with tax of course some boxes would be worth it BUT there’s plenty of boxes that I would never pay that much for especially this year how it’s really been a miss for me for most of the year so far

Reply ButtonReply

Bree

The glam bag plus products have been so disappointing for the last few months. Super bummed that September continues that trend.

Reply ButtonReply

Tammy R.

Yeah, same. Out of this entire year so far, I’ve accepted only two Glam Bag Plus shipments. The rest were skipped. At least we still have the option to skip, so I guess it’s not too bad (for me, at least), but I do agree that this does make for a boring subscription, too.

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

The bag is great! The products, not so great.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

nope.

Reply ButtonReply

No make-up

Thinking about canceling IPSY. Their product selection has not been good for months they hardly ever offer make-up. Maybe it is time to switch to boxy charm. Although I canceled them for too many eye shadows

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

That coffee face scrub looks painful.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

That’s what I was thinking!

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Me three!! My skin cringed when I saw that. I have to be more careful too cause my sensitive skin is getting a bit irritated with all these products I try out.

Wendy

The bag design reminds me so much of Cher’s outfit in Clueless! Very nice!

Marion

Haha, that’s what I said in a comment on the other Ipsy post! 😊

I have that Il Makiage eyeshadow quad and its really nice. Its nicely pigmented, easy to blend and very little fallout. These spoilers are good, not great imo but they aren’t bad either

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

Good to know, I like the looks of that eyeshadow.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

That’s the best spoiler of the bunch, IMO.
