Exactly what Leslie said and I was in Jamie’s shoes, living in NYC and have a job at a publisher. Other things to consider: dry cleaning/laundry- my absolute biggest pet peeve, and something I didn’t have time for. I didn’t have a doorman and even scheduling the dry cleaning to be dropped off was a PIA. RTR solved that by including cleaning. The other was space- I lived in a studio and didn’t have room for all of the clothing I wanted, especially coats and seasonal items. Last but not least, maternity!! So awesome to just rent not only maternity clothes but larger sizes for while I was pregnant.

So I work in the fashion industry and live in New York. Going into my office every day (pre-covid obviously), there was a lot of emphasis on looking good & wearing high-end clothes, which I could not afford on an entry-level salary. When they used to do unlimited plans, it was totally worth it for me because I could swap instantly at their store in Manhattan & have something different (and gorgeous) to wear to work every single day. To be honest, I personally don’t think it’s worth it since they’ve done away with the unlimited plans, but I know a lot of others who still use it for work.

I am not posting this to be snarky. I am asking an honest question. Can someone comment on this subscription as I do not understand the draw of it on a regular basis. I can see maybe using it for a special occasion such as a wedding or something like that, but it just seems ultimately it is more expensive than me going out and buying something nice (or even thrifting) so that I outright own it and can wear it multiple times). Is this just geared toward very specific folks that would need to rotate their closet regularly or is it meant to be for these special occasions where one might want something different for a one time event and then would never need to wear it again. Please no negativity with responses, I am actually wanting to understand what would draw folks to this (i know “different strokes for different folks”) as again it just seems expensive to me.

Good question Jessica. I shop very similarly to you and wouldn’t need this sub except for on a very fancy occasion where it is expected you will dress in designer, expensive fashion. I don’t run in those circles, so I probably would never have a need to use this sub.

I can think of people who may find this sub really useful, possibly young people who are starting out in very creative fields where status is gained partially by what you wear. Working in a prestigious gallery, fashion design company, event planning, or possibly even publishing are all fields that this sub could be useful. Especially for people in these type of careers who work in a cosmopolitan city.

Regardless of someone’s socio-economic level, there are people who fall in love with fashion. They track designers, like reading about designers and fashion houses and covet or save up for designer clothes and accessories. These people may use this sub here and there to live the fantasy of being able to wear high fashion.

I see this sub helping to flesh out a person’s wardrobe if they work in a field where brand name fashion is the norm and people who want to fulfill a fantasy.

I may be way off, because I am just guessing. But perhaps these examples may give you some ideas on who would use this sub.

Has anyone paid for this sub? What were your reasons?
