Quirky Philadelphia-based ceramics studio Felt + Fat has just released their mystery boxes.
Each box contains three, six or thirteen handmade pieces — like bowls, mugs and more — of "seconds" quality. "Seconds" means these wares aren't entirely perfect, they may have an uneven glaze or other cosmetic issue, but are still fully functional.
The three-piece mystery box is $48 and includes small- to medium-sized items, while the six- ($90) and 13-piece ($170) sets feature a mix of small, medium and serving pieces.
Sets are curated in hopes of creating fun, cohesive collections with so much variety that no two boxes are the same.
"Looking to get your hands on some particularly weird Felt+Fat pieces? That’s what the mystery box is for! We’ve been trying a lot of new things lately and not everything hits the mark or is particularly scaleable, so instead of letting them gather dust we’re shipping them out to you!" the brand explained on Instagram Friday.
Felt + Fat opened in 2014 with a focus on creating custom tableware for chefs. Five years later, their handmade pieces can be found in more than 140 restaurants across five different countries and now, in your home, too.
