We have a second spoiler for the Summer 2021 Earthlove subscription box, which you can still subscribe to here

ACTIVE DEAL: $5 off your first box
CODE: MSA5

Each Summer 2021 box will include a Guru Upcycled Sari Kimono.

Upcycled saris have an amazing history.  Each of our high quality Rasgulla saris are collected by bartering in Indian villages and are re-fashioned by Guru for you! Individual fashion designs are created for women like you, who respect unique style and the sustainability movement.  Because our saris have history, they may also have minor imperfections that are camouflaged in the beauty of our exquisite saris. These types of petite flaws you will embrace, much like our own personal flaws.  Because nothing and no one is perfect.

The Summer 2021 Earthlove box will also contain one of the following books of your choice:

Our Wild Calling: How Connecting with Animals Can Transform Our Lives―and Save Theirs by Richard Louv

Vegan Style: Your Plant-based Guide to Fashion * Beauty * Home * Travel by Sascha Camilli

What Would the Buddha Recycle?: A Mindful Guide to an Eco-Friendly Life by Adams Media

I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this box before. I love it. I subscribed for summer and also ordered the Spring box from their shop. I am super excited about the Sari kimonos and can’t wait to see what else will be in the box!

I’ve been eyeing this box for a month and subscribed! Going to be a long wait until September lol.

Hey Rebecca,

Warm welcome! I see your box in the queue for the Summer curation, so your first box will ship out next month (September is for the Autumn box ;)).

Serina

As the steward of two Little Free Libraries, I love that you rescued these books from the landfill. People think that ebooks are more eco friendly but there are many e readers in landfills. The difference is that they will not break down like paper and ink will. On top of that, a quick search on the internet can explain what it takes to manufacture one. Everything has some kind of impact. I get the desire to reduce waste and I think offering a book less option is a nice choice.

Does everyone get roughly the same items in their box (aside from different book choices)? I’m tired of boxes with a bazillion variations unless you are an annual subscriber. I want at least a pretty good idea of what I’m getting ahead of time for that much money

Hi Amy,

We’ve got two customizations: book choice and whether your preference is a regular box or vegan box (regular boxes are “beegan” because they sometimes have items that contain beeswax or honey). Other than that, everything else is the same for every member, though some item may have a colour or design difference like the kimono since each are hand designed and one-of-a-kind. As a perk, annual members get priority in customization and then we open it to seasonal members. We will *never* force anyone into an annual subscription in order to customize. In my opinion it’s unethical and not part of our ethos for creating a feeling of positive change and impact through community. Earthlove members have also asked about the ability to choose between the beegan and vegan item when there is a variation difference and that’s something we may explore down the road, but everyone will always have the ability to choose: seasonal members, annual members, and soon new subscribers too. Let me know if you have any more questions about the box 😄

Sustainably Yours,
Serina

That’s beautiful! Unfortunately, I’m super picky about books, so I’ll probably still pass

Hi Molly!

Serina, the founder here. We also offer a “bookless” option is you’d like to forego receiving a book in the box. Instead, we donate an additional $5 to our featured environmental cause of the season. This season our members voted to help salmon and increase biodiversity in the PNW by reducing pesticide runoff caused by commercial farming.

We’ll be opening up the customization options to new subscribers this week!
Let us know if you have any additional questions about the box ^_^

Hi meggers123,

Good question! Every Upcycle Sari Kimono is hand designed by Kathryn, the founder of Guru, and completely one-of-a-kind. You can get an idea of how she does block patterning for the kimonos on the website here: https://guruforlife.ca/collections/kimonos-cover-ups

The style featured in the box is this one:
https://guruforlife.ca/collections/kimonos-cover-ups/products/reinvented-kimono-mixed-print-upcycled-assorted-prints-1 (It’s worth $110 retail!)

Let me know if you have any other questions about them or the box ^_^

Hey Janet,

All of our books are “last chance” books that we purchase from our supplier — they are basically the last stop before heading to a landfill so we essentially rescue books to reduce landfill waste. As much as I’d love to offer e-books, our supplier doesn’t have that option at this time. It’s definitely something we’ll keep in mind for the future, though!

Sustainably Yours,
Serina

meggers123

Do all the saris have the same design as above or are they different?

Janet

Serina, I’d love to see ebooks as an option in the future as an effort to reduce waste!

Molly

That’s good to know, thank you for the response!

Anita

I can’t wait! I love it!

there are three active sales for this box. before subbing, I recommend you contact the company. I’ve tried to comment with the codes here no less than three times on this page but none have been allowed to post. I’m not sure why….

MSA has their own code that they’ve strangely left out of the post.

That is beautiful!

deal alert:

I emailed Earthlove this past Saturday (5/22) to see if there was any way I could pick my book, and also to see if they had any deals available. Their response was that I could not pick my book, but that they have a couple of deals:

“We’ve got a couple ongoing promos:
-LOVETHEEARTH takes $5 off your first box
-FREETP includes a free roll of bamboo toilet paper (shipped separately)
-MSABUNDLE includes a free starter bundle (shipped separately)”

How bizarre that MSA is not even advertising their own deal!
