We have full spoilers for the June 2021 Boxwalla Beauty Box! June 25th is the last day to subscribe.

The June Beauty Box is themed, 'Perhaps the Butterflies are Real' and features the extraordinary Lovinah Skincare. Joy Ekhator, the founder, draws inspiration from her native Nigeria, from her herbalist grandmother, and the African rituals she grew up with. And she combines them with the latest cutting-edge technology in truly exciting ways. A sublime coming together of the ancient & the modern.

Each June Boxwalla Beauty Box includes:

  • Blue Butterfly Stem Cell Mask (full size, $85): This beautifully blue mask is designed to brighten, hydrate, soften & refine the skin. The color of this mask comes from Moroccan Blue Neela clay, Blue Spirulina & Butterfly pea extract, each bringing their own unique benefits to the mask. Made in a base of isotonic seawater, the Blue Butterfly mask also contains Mushroom extract, Olive Squalane, Licorice root, Caviar Limes, Gotu Kola & Baobab extracts, and more! Delightful for both the senses & the skin.

  • Power Vitamin C Cleansing Balm  (full size, $45) This is a sumptuously scarlet cleanser, rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and polyphenols. A decadent balm-to-oil-to-milk cleansing balm, it emulsifies and rinses off completely with water. It can gently take off makeup, impurities, unclogging the pores without stripping the skin at all. Made in a base of antioxidant-rich oils like  Cloudberry, Lingonberry, Black currant, Bilberry & Guava seed along with a stable ester of Vitamin C.

  • Goddess Glow Shimmering Body Oil (30 ml, $30): A unique not-yet-released body oil, it feels like a perfumed river of gold. When massaged in, it leaves the skin soft & scented, with the prettiest shimmer that catches the light. Made with nourishing oils like Jojoba, Argan, Baobab & Moringa, along with Coffee seed extract. The shimmer comes from ethically sourced mica.

Cost: $49.95 (Retail Value $160)

Good to Know: You can also purchase the June Beauty Box, as part of the pre-paid multicycle options (that don't renew).

Boxwalla's bimonthly beauty subscription box features cruelty-free, nutrient rich beauty products. Each box is themed around a different aspect of what Boxwalla calls "the beauty ritual." Boxwalla curates boxes for three other categories as well: books, film, and food. You can switch between categories starting after your second box.

Has anyone tried the blue mask? Is it supposed to burn? I took it right off after a minute because it seemed like that was not supposed to happen.

I’m only interested in the blue mask and have never tried products from this brand. I can’t justify the other two products because I have a cleansing balm right now that I’m working through. I recently received a body oil in Laurel & Reed’s last box. Wondering if anyone has info on how well this mask works for them?

Maybe skipping this box.. I would expect different products for a June box. The mask and the balm seem too heavy to me for a summer box. I’m curious about the body oil though! I don’t understand the hype with lovinah, the april box did not compare in my opinion in terms of quality and people are already crazy about this one, like best box ever :S

The balm is a cleansing balm, and also Lovinah didn’t have any products in the April box?

The colors of these products are so beautiful! I have so many masks & cleansing balms & the Sunday Riley shimmer oil as well…but this is really tempting!

Passing on this one. I’m on overload and didn’t care for the last Lovinah product I tried. Never got resolution on a leaking serum from a box earlier this year, either. Burn out, I guess!

I love cleansing balms! This box is so tempting.

I am giving this one a skip. I don’t want my skincare in bright colors. Makes me think that it has some kind of artificial coloring. I might be way off base, but just this perception alone doesn’t make me want any of this on my face. Loved the last Boxwalla box and will continue to get boxes as I’ve been really happy with this sub in general. This one is just not for me.

Nat, I appreciate your comment, and I too was taken aback by the bright colours of the products (well, the blue and red one, not all of them). As I read more, I learned that these colours actually are naturally derived! That’s nature for ya. It’s always okay to skip a box, and I’m sure I’ll skip one at some point as well. But maybe keep your eyes open for other reviews if these products and maybe they’ll be proven to be naturally coloured?

If you had actually read anything you would have seen what gives them the colors. Definitely not dyes.

Snow

There is definitely no artificial coloring in these products

Every time I try skin care this deeply saturated with color, it stains everything. I’m gonna pass.

I broke my low buy last week and ordered this as soon as the entire box was revealed on IG. It was the easiest box decision I’ve ever had to make. These products look and sound AMAZING! The best I’ve seen since I first subbed to Boxwalla last December. Not that all of them weren’t great but this one feels extra special!

I had been contemplating skipping this one due to product overload and moving across the country. (I have one suitcase devoted just to full-size skin care. ) There is NO WAY I am missing this one! Boxwalla is always lovely, always special and CS is always spectacular. I cannot wait to try this rainbow of skincare!

Lydea, if I may share a fun (well, to some) story I read recently as it has to do with moving far and packing well:

I read the story of a woman who worked as a hair stylist/barber in the US, and somehow she learned of a new job: basically, “stylist wanted at the Arctic Station”…I don’t recall the exact name of this station except to know that it’s at one of the earth’s poles and is ridiculously remote, and has several hundred “inhabitants” at any given time.

And, everybody there eventually needs a hair cut. So she responded to this most unique help wanted offer, and has since been living at the pole, providing the only hair services to the several hundred persons at the site. Your comment about your suitcase made me think of it, because when she was interviewed and asked about the most difficult part of her journey, her main complaint was the limitations on how much luggage she could bring (the total allowed weight was very low, and as she said her snow boots and protective clothing took up most of the weight).

It does give us pause about what skincare items we’d take in our case if heading to the South Pole! 🙂

The products look and sound amazing. I’ve never heard of this brand. Anyone have experience using this brand and what are your thoughts?

Like Flora, I’ve tried the cleansing oil from a previous box and thought it was lovely. It really did turn “milky” and completely rinse off – I felt like I could use it as my solo cleanser instead of the first step in a double cleanse. Jessica reviewed a special Lovinah-only box – it’s “Boxwalla Limited Edition Beauty Box Review – August 2020” if you want to search for it.

I have only tried Lovinah’s Dragon Blood cleansing oil from a previous Boxwalla and I really enjoy it. I don’t normally like cleansing oils as they usually are just a little too oily (although I can use balms like Farmacy Green Clean) but this one rinses clear of the oil and still feels moisturized and clean. I like the scent too, a hint of earthy, plum and other fruitiness. I don’t use it to take off makeup but it has done the trick on minimal eye (liner & light mascara).

I love Boxwalla so so much. These colors are divine but, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, I’m going to pass on this box. I’m barely wearing makeup these days and now have 2 full size cleansing balms and 2 sample sizes. I also received a full size shimmer body oil from Sunday Riley that I haven’t opened yet. You know you’re addicted to beauty boxes when you mourn not getting a box…

Lars

I also got that Sunday Riley body oil. It’s NOT moisturizing but does have a slight shimmer. This body oil looks DIVINE.

This box looks so good! I think I might have to jump into boxwalla. Does anyone know if this box will sell out before the June 25 cut off? Thank you!

Preetam

I would suggest you subscribe soon if possible. There have been a few boxes in the past that have sold out prior to the actual deadline.

OMG the colors of the products are sublime!

The colors of these products are just blowing my mind 🌈🤯

Man, I am SO tempted!!

Welp, this looks so good!

I had tried the Lovinah cleansing oil in one of their earlier boxes and it’s absolutely decadent.

I’ve been a Boxwalla subscriber for over 2 years now and they have never missed the mark.
