Unplug with Maker Crate, a KiwiCo Kit for Adults

Glued to your screen these days?

You’re not alone, screen time is at an all-time high thanks to remote learning and working, and the general stuck-on-the-couch feeling that’s plaguing us all.

KiwiCo is here to help.

Be honest, as a parent, have you ever thought, why won’t KiwiCo make me a volcano slime kit? Or found your older kids “borrowing” their younger sibling’s animal bath bomb kit? Now it’s your turn. KiwiCo has two projects in their Maker Crate Store specifically for teens and adults 14+ and we’re already excited to try them.

The batik wrapping cloth kit helps you “discover the ancient Indonesian art of batik, and create colorful wrapping cloths that are to dye for.”

There’s also a punch needle pillow kit designed to “explore textile art” that will result in a decorative pillow everyone will think you paid way more for on Etsy.

Our screen time tends to be the highest at the end of the day, so we’re subbing this in as our new nighttime activity. Unwind and catch up with your not-so-little one and create something with your hands together while you talk about your days. Or sub it in for that hour you’ve been spending flying down rabbit holes that somehow lead you to your high school lab partner’s girlfriend’s brother’s archery business.

To make this news even better, KiwiCo is currently running a stock-up sale. Use code SPRINGSTOCKUP to save 15% off $50+, 20% off $100+, or 25% off $150+. Plus, there's free shipping on orders $49+.

Want to learn more about these creative kits? Check out our KiwiCo reviews.

I can’t get this code to work. Is it working? The post is promoted so I assumed it was still valid. Does anyone have a different one? I want to get a few of those punch pillows. THanks!

Hi B, Can personally recommend the punch needle kit (it’s so relaxing and hard to mess up).

Thanks El! It let me start a discounted sub with the punch needle box so I got one for me & my mom. Nothing for the nieces’ though!

Hi B! This promo code has since expired. You can try this link to receive 50% off your first month of KiwiCo: https://www.kiwico.com/mlp/msa?utm_source=AFF&utm_medium=AFF&utm_campaign=MSA

Hi Maggie – I am re-reading my post and it sounds harsher than I meant. It was frustrating and I do think promoted posts should have up to date code information, but I didn’t mean to sound nasty. Thank you!

B

Hey Maggie – just a thought, if MSA is going to promote a post your readers are going to assume the promoted post has a valid code in it – why would we think you are promoting g something invalid? Maybe MSA could update the post before promoting. This was a pretty big let down. I picked out a bunch of items for my nieces’ birthday based on the code and now I’m not going to buy anything. Waste of my time.

The code did not work for me last week. I think it ended in April. The Honey chrome extension had some codes you could try.

I bought the punch needle set from their shop. I loved it. I don’t know how to do much in the craft world but the step by step videos helped a lot. I hit pause a lot too lol. I thought my pillow was kinda lame but a friend came over and asked me where I bought it! I now wish I’d bought 2 kits because I gave her the pillow.
I joined the 3 month but didn’t love any of the projects so gave them as gifts.

What were the projects like? I’m trying to figure out another adult craft subscription since Homemade Luxe was nothing special for the price and I pitched half my projects.

What were the other projects?

Thanks Hallie,

I appreciate all the details. You are right, those projects do not seem as good as the pillow. Boo.

Sorry I took so long to answer. One project was a paper lantern set. Basically a string of lights and you made little paper lanterns to go over the light bulb. Fiddly and kinda cheap looking. Next was a make your own garden. Pieces of felt you cut out plant shapes and placed in a felt garden. Kinda like a 3d paper doll set where you make a garden. I also received a very cheap looking pleather portfolio. Pre cut piece that you sew together to make a folio. Smaller than a piece of paper so not sure what you’d put in it. I wasn’t interested in any of them and gifted them to kids who ignored them too lol. I would buy more of the punch needle kit though. Ot was a lot of fun and relaxing.

That’s pretty good with stacking with their 15% off from the cash back app

I buy kits from etsy but have always wanted to do the kid ones on KiwiCo.
