I’m so glad I’m not alone in my feelings on this subject. (I thought I was just getting old and cranky). Contests that require multiple social media steps completely turn me off. I am a huge beauty enthusiast, but I work in an industry where I have to be very careful about my social media presence.

I’m not sure there ever is a “winner,” other than the companies that get free advertising. What happened to actual giveaways for loyal customers? Ugh.

Forcing your friends to follow an account to enter a giveaway is rude and dumb. Please stop this.

Nope. I wouldn’t do this even if I was on IG.

Are you serious?! Liking/following someone is one thing, but making sure your friends do it too, just to enter a beauty giveaway, is really ridiculous! Plus, not everyone uses social media, so that excludes them entirely. I like Farmacy as a brand, but seeing this makes me like them LESS! And I was going to subscribe to Boxy in May, but I’ll pass. Whatever happened to just entering a contest? smh

Okay, tagging them I can see if they’re just trying to build awareness about the brands. But this requirement is out of line. I don’t use Instagram but I wouldn’t want to do that on *any* platform.

It’s aggravating that these contests and giveaways are conducted via social media in the first place. As can be seen by others responding to this, nor everyone uses social media.

Agreed. I dislike most social media with a passion so that counts me out.

Totally agree. LinkedIn is as far as I go, and that’s for my business. I contact my friends by phone, text, and email. Real friends. What a concept.

I agree! That is a bit much… I’m not going to force them to follow a brand just so I can be entered in a giveaway. That’s a bit pushy and asking too much for a prize where you have a slim chance winning.
