Here’s what I discovered this morning… Eli basically is Marika. I think Marika Must have created their own subscription service. They ran a sale on Instagram yesterday – three items for $45. I really like their clothing so I went ahead and placed an order. Today when I got the confirmation email I noticed that their mailing/shipping address is the exact same one is Ellie. Sooooo pretty sure it’s just them, which explains why everything is Marika or balance collection pretty much.

I have mixed feelings about this. When I got my first box and it was mostly their clothing I was excited because like I said I like their brand, and their stuff tends to fit me well and be of a good quality. But prior to getting this subscription, I mostly found their clothing at Ross and TJ Maxx. So the pants that I essentially paid $15 for I could sometimes fine for 12 or 10 at Ross. Ellie has more styles and full outfits, but also included in that first subscription box was a super thin and delicate tank. If I had gone in a store I never would’ve chosen that, so to me I wasn’t happy with the quality of that tank for $15. I remained a subscriber but skipped a couple of months and got my latest box in September. The pants and sports bra were buttery soft and I was happy. Once again, Marika.

So knowing this, the subscription it’s definitely a savings off the full price of items on Marina’s website. But it’s not always better than what you find on the rack.

Ellie and Marika are separate brands, but under the umbrella of parent company FAM Brands. As well as Balance Collection, Bally Total Fitness, Zobha, even Eddie Bauer, which have all been included in their outfits. A simple Google search will tell you this.

Yes, you can find these brands at places like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s and Ross, but not with any kind of consistency. I still love the way they put together their outfits for the subscription – I have already bought things I wouldn’t normally have bought on my own, and I love them! Also, the pricing is great, you get free shipping, and the customer service is fantastic.

I did laugh when I saw the Marika 3 for $45 sale though. I thought to myself, Oh, so like an Ellie box without the subscription! 🙂

Ah I see. And I can totally relate to ALL of that! Other than shipping taking long; that hasn’t happened yet to me. But I live pretty close as well, and I looked at their job postings just for fun, and I saw they are hiring for a pop up store they are doing at 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica for the month of November! However, the Promenade and that whole area has been DEAD and a lot of businesses are locked up/boarded up or just plain gone since the riots and looting 🙁 And if that happens all over again after the election next week, it will all be shut down and I’m sure there will be no pop up. Unless maybe they do it later on in the month once things have settled a bit, but who knows. Might be fun to go if things are safe again by that point, but I’m afraid I’d just end up buying more activewear and loungewear than I can fit in my own dresser!

I was just laying out how I discovered this. Without Google, they don’t make this transparent (not that they *have* to, just saying). So for me, it just clicked when I saw the address. I was like, “this makes so much sense now.”

I also wasn’t trying to say this was a good or bad thing. I think for me the PRO is getting a lot of Marika items (which I love) for less than their full price. And by them revealing the brands on each outfit, I actually skip anything JS (not my style, usually doesn’t fit me well). I have yet to notice any Eddie Bauer, but I’ll keep an eye out. I mainly zoom in on Marika and Balance Collection – two brands I found through Ross/TJ Maxx YEARS ago…and now that I basically live in this kind of clothing every day (thanks lockdown 2020!), I realized those are the brands that have last me for ages and fit me super well.

The CON being, since Marika products are easily available in multiple retailers, I can actually walk in and try something on and not deal with their shipping or returns (my first box took over a month to come, closer to two, which is why I skipped the second month’s box. I didn’t want to pay for more without seeing the quality of the first box). My October box came in just over a week which, because of the first box, exceeded my expectations.

Haha, they are so close to me that during that two months I waited, I almost wanted to say “can I just drive over and pick up my order?” LOL. But yes, when I saw that Marika sale last night, before I put two and two together, I thought “I’ll probably be skipping that November Ellie box.” A+ shipping by the way, I got a shipping notice today and I ordered less than 12 hours ago. I mean, that really just means they printed up a label, but still!

As I think another commenter before me said…there’s only so much athletic wear you need. I didn’t need this much when I was going to Pilates 3-4 times a week. I needed a little more this summer, sitting in this clothing 5-7 days a week, but at this point between Ellie boxes, and Zulily sales on Marika items….I’m set for a while unless I gain or lose a ton of weight!! I have a 4 drawer dresser, and the athletic wear drawer is bursting at the seams and threatening to creep into other territory. Some stuff has been sitting in a clean clothes hamper for two weeks because there’s so much! For the two months I have gotten it, its been a great buy though – matching outfits and honestly just the realization that I loved this brand (Marika) has been super worthwhile.

I honestly wanted to skip October, but took a chance on Heart Felt….so buttery soft, I love it! I immediately went online to try to find another pair of those pants.

Jodi

Which by the way, I placed an order with Marika too, at 8:40 last night before the sale ended…and I already got an email before 8:00 this morning that it shipped! Crazy!

I’m a serious yogi & practice in my pajamas or leggings & a T-shirt, but I practice alone at home. Maybe these are good for classes in a studio?

Gabbi

Hopefully someone can answer – I wear a size XL shirt and XXL bra in Fabletics. Will Ellie’s shirts and bras fit me? According to their size chart they won’t but that seems strange to me.

Hi Gabbi,
To answer your question. The Ellie activewear brand (I’ve ordered about 10 outfits so far) to be designed for in shape women. Because I can say I train 5x a week, and if I’m bloated, I noticeably feel more uncomfortable in their clothing and opt for something a little more forgiving like Old Navy. I do love (However) that Marika’s stuff is sweat proof and squat proof. I personally will never do HITT training in Old Navy as I have always found crotch sweat doing that and it’s embarrassing. I will say this brand is more forgiving than Fabletics in terms of fit. If you avoid the shimmery textures, I think you will find the sizing to be quite comfortable. But if you don’t want snug, I would avoid Puma for sure and Adidas. I find their brands, even if I’m thin, to be really hard to fit exactly right unless I had the best nutrition week of my life (never happens).

I have only tried tops, jackets and leggings so I can’t say about bras. I have tried Fabletics shirts in XL and also Ellie shirts in XL and the ones I have bought both fit the same.

I am 5’3″ or 63 inches and weight 146 lbs. I normally wear a size medium and size 8 jeans. I wear a medium bra and large top and bottoms in their product lines to feel comfortable with nothing to tight on me. I do feel that Ellie needs to be more all inclusive with their sizing.

Jodi

Their outfits are mostly Marika and Balance Collection, and also some of their own brand Ellie, Bally Total Fitness, Zobha, and Jessica Simpson. So I would look up those brands to see if they will for you. I’m not familiar with Fabletics stuff though, sorry!

Hmm, I was going to pause this month but Full Bloom is tempting me ….

Jodi

My sister just canceled her subscription last month because she has so much activewear but now she’s regretting it because she saw Floral Bloom haha. It’s SO cute!

Reply ButtonReply

Jodi

Oops I meant *Full Bloom 🙂

Svetlana7e

I selected Full Bloom. Contemplating to add additional outfit of Bayou Babe. Any one has this outfit and would like to share the opinion?

Reply ButtonReply

Jodi

I got Bayou Babe and I really like it! The pieces are all great quality and go well together. Did you decided to get it too?

Sterling

I got hte Lunar Flare and I feel its really nice. The bra is one of my favorites. But I am taking care to wash it on delicae and air dry because I don’t trust hte foil from peeling.

I am trying to decide if the tie dye Jessica Simpson leggings are the same pattern as the set a few months ago because I havethe shorts but would like to have the capri ones.

Jodi

I was looking at that too and they are the same!

Julie

Last month I chose the leopard Jessica Simpson outfit, I received the confirmation & the shipping notification & then was told it wasn’t available? So okay, I ask for the Lunar Flare outfit & was told it was sold out also, so… why is it an option this month? I ended up getting the Heart Felt outfit last month & I do really like it, it’s a beautiful darker cranberry color. The bra has good support & the tank actually looks good with a bunch of my Fall cardigans, so it is a great outfit. I’m not sure about this month… did anyone get Lunar/Solar Flare last month? What is the quality like? Does it seem like that stuff will peel/fade off? I like the leggings from Full Bloom but not in love with the other pieces.

Jodi

The Jessica Simpson leopard jacket is on Zulily in medium and large if you still want it! They also have coordinating leggings in S-XL, they are just different than the ones Ellie had – they are all over leopard print instead of black with leopard panels down the side. I think they are super cute!

All the items are on the Jessica Simpson website too, just much more expensive than the Ellie box was :/

I tried commenting with links to the items but it wouldn’t post so maybe links aren’t allowed here. Oops. Just search for “Jessica Simpson torn animal” and they will come up!

Julie

Thanks! I’ll have to check it out, I’ve never ordered from Zulily before.

Jodi

Oh and Zulily also has the Lunar Flare (black) and Solar Flare (plum) leggings but I can’t find the tops… If you search for “Marika sparks” the leggings will come up! 🙂 Maybe the tops will be available at some point too.

Jodi

I was On their site yesterday and a lot of sizes in all collections were sold out.

Jodi

The September outfits? Probably because it was the last day of the month. Although I was looking at them yesterday too and didn’t really notice that. I actually ordered 4 collections on Monday (mediums and larges).

Lisa

I got Solar Flare last month and love them. I also got Golden Hour last September, same pants but in grey and have had not problems with peeling or fading off. Super soft. I like to go up a size since I like them to be roomy and not so tight around my waist. I ended up skipping this month because I don’t really love anything. Sorry to hear about you problems last month,
