The 2020 Cult Beauty Advent Calendar is coming soon! (Thanks for the heads up, Luna!) You can sign up for the waitlist now.

Overflowing with beauty bestsellers, the Cult Beauty Advent Calendar 2020 is coming *champagne pops*! But it doesn't stop there, this year we'll also be donating £15/€17 from every calendar sold to Beauty Banks; a charity geared towards helping those living in poverty access the hygiene essentials and personal care that are vital for health, wellbeing and self-esteem.

The Box: Cult Beauty Advent Calendar 2020

Does anyone have this calendar in US willing to sell? I got it off ebay from a seller but then they restricted it for some reason. /cry

For anyone who missed out on Cult Beauty’s advent calendar, and was planning on using a forwarding service to get it, Cult Beauty will be coming out with 5 new beauty kits, ranging in price from £25 to £45. You can find the kits by looking at “Cult Beauty” under Brands. They’re currently in waitlist mode.

If all kits were purchased they would total £175 with 42 products total, so it’ll sort of be like getting the calendar for cheaper, and with more products. 😉 The sad news for us U.S. peeps is that they’re also marked to not ship to the U.S. 🙁 I wonder if this is their alternative to the calendar for those that missed out on it.

First time commenter here. I was able to purchase one using a forwarding service in the UK. They wouldn’t let me check out with my US address and there was a message stating that it won’t ship to my country. I had my UK forwarding address ready, just in case. I’ve used the service, Forward2Me, before and it’s fairly reasonable all things considered, unless you have aerosols shipping. It doesn’t look this this calendar has any aerosol cans.

Cult Beauty’s site has crashed multiple times since the calendar launched this morning and still seems to be down. So, if anyone is still interested in the calendar and willing to pay a bit extra for the forwarding service, it’s possible that some calendars are still in stock since the site has been down almost all morning and had plenty of glitches leading up to it.

Luna

The site’s back up 🙂 I tried to get one, and was able to add it to my cart just now, but also got the message that it won’t ship to the U.S. I don’t think I’ll be using a forwarding service, so I’ll be missing out on this one this year. Hopefully they ship it to the U.S. next year! 🙂

Luna

FYI: On Instagram, Cult Beauty confirmed multiple times the calendar will ship to the U.S. 🙂 I think, like last year, they haven’t updated their website yet for some reason.

Christina

Hi Luna,
I set my alarm and added it to my cart but it wouldn’t let me check out with it. I’m super bummed but at least I tried! It seems it won’t ship to the US this year! Just wanted to share in case others were curious!

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

Luna, have you heard any updates on if they are shipping to the US for sure or not? I emailed customer service and they say no, but I’m still so hopeful that will change. This one looks so amazing! 😀

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Hi Stephanie! Like E L mentioned above, I saw on another calendar post that they confirmed it will not ship to the U.S. this year due to distribution restrictions. Sad! Hopefully next year! 🙂

E L

I just saw their post on the calendar and cult beauty they will not be shipping it to the US. What a disappointment. That is the only advent calendar I want. 🙁

Justine Phillipson

Ugh, looks so awesome! It is just sooooo much money, and idk how I could use all of those skin products haha. Wish I could do it this year.

dia

A lot of nice stuff, but the cost is about equivalent to an entire year of Ipsy GBP. I’d rather have the fun spread out over the course of a year 😆

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

I totally agree. It is a lot of nice stuff but I’d rather spread it out with my IGBP sub. Plus with Ipsy we’d get double the product for a year for this price.

GMforever

At first glance, I thought it was too expensive for my price range. But after I took a careful look at what’s in there, I really, really want this calendar, there are many things I would love to try and they are very expensive if bought retail.
Now, my problem is: if this will sell out within 2 hours like the previous one, I will not be able to get it for sure, because I am not an early bird. No way I will catch this on time if hey announced it in the middle of the night (4 am PST) like all their boxes.
I mean, if we know in advance which day they’ll release it, I can get up and buy it, but if we don’t know the day and it’s a surprise, then I have zero chance.

Lux

I know! I was purposely just eyeballing the photo trying to see how many product brands I could identify without looking at the list. When I saw the Dr. Barbara Sturm product I was like “well, that probably covers the cost of the box right there!” I was joking with myself, but only a little bit ☺️

Reply ButtonReply

Lana

Have you tried Dr. Barbara Sturm before? I didn’t love any of her stuff and I was so excited to try it 🙁

Luna

Last year they did announce the launch date ahead of time, but not the time. 🙁 Last year it went live at 2am PST.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I’m not sure since I missed out on it, but another MSA commenter said she was able to get it with no issue, so hopefully she can chime in. 🙂

Geewhiz

What was the trick to getting it to ship in the US last year? I shop from them all the time but remember that I had it in my cart and tried many times to check out and when my address came up it was a hard stop that wouldn’t allow me to pay. I need the secret to get it to ship to me!!! 😁

Luna

Good luck! I’ll be up with you refreshing the screen like crazy whatever time it goes live 😀

GMforever

Tanya, yes, I got on the waitlist already and yes, it will be wonderful if if could get this.
Luna, once again, thank you! It’s great to hear that they will announce the launch date. 2 am sounds great to me. Crossing fingers now and good luck Ladies!

Tanya M

I feel ya GM. We might as well get on waitlist though. Man, wouldn’t this be wonderful as I want a few of these brands… have been wanting. I thought about the GWO goody bag but I think o will take my chances in this. Hoping for a successful outcome.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I was eyeing their gwp too, but also decided to pass. It was slightly too makeup heavy for me (even with what… only 3 makeup items in it (counting the brush set as one item)?),lol, and there wasn’t any real hero product that caught my eye enough to make it worth it to me. I think they usually come out with one in October. I hope it’s good!

Kelly

Site is saying it doesn’t ship to my country(United states) is this accurate?

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

@Kelly if the calendar is available on a company affiliated with the US, then you may still be able to purchase it.
I was able to purchase my Diptyque calendar from Selfridge’s because they have a US site, so maybe there’s still hope.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Their site said the same thing leading up to its release last year too, but it did ship to the U.S. I just hope that’s the case again this year too! 🙂

Luna

Hi Claudia! Aren’t you still part of the forum that Best Aunt created (assuming your the @claudiada… (didn’t want to put your full name 🙂 ) that’s on there )? If so, can you PM her there?

Luna

Thanks for the update Kelly 🙂 That is a bummer. For some reason I’m still inclined to check their website still just in case 😉 I know… I’m a lost cause. 😀

GMforever

@Kelly, thank you for the info. I was just thinking about emailing Cult Beauty.
What a bummer that they will not ship to US!
There’s an option to use a forwarding company but I’m not sure it’s worth it since we will pay full retail UK price (no refund on VAT) + the fee for forwarding which will probably range around $50. I have used this type of service 2 years ago and although it was smooth, I regretted afterwards because my final price came out a lot higher than I expected.
But it’s an option for those who want to get things that can’t be shipped to US.

Claudia

Hi Luna, I haven’t been here forever. Are private emails so available? I’ve lost contact with Best Aunt.

Kelly

Here’s a text copy of the email-

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for contacting Cult Beauty.

Regrettably, we’re unable to ship to Advent Calander to the USA. I do apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused.

Best wishes,
Olivia

Kelly

I emailed Cult and the rep said they are NOT able to ship to U.S. Bummed.

GMforever

Thank you for all the info once again Luna. I do hope that this will ship to US because it will be the only Advent Calendar I will get. (for now).

Beth in Oklahoma

A lovely selection of skincare and makeup, but too pricey. It will no doubt sell out in minutes, though.

Beth

Very early right? Few years ago I loved any and all Advent Calendars. Now I feel it’s a rip off most of the time. Maybe I’ll jump in on a candy calendar or food because I’m a piggy…. Seriously OINK! 🐽!

Now, I could make beauty advent calendars myself for a few hundred people with all the must have subscription boxes I had to have.

P.S This is to early right? It’s still summer! Wild.

Reply ButtonReply

Makenzie

Haha I feel ya on that! I have way too many products from subscription boxes to make several advent calendars. I’d love a food or candy advent calendar but they’re usually expensive.

Reply ButtonReply

Diamond

Well, I just saved $262 dollar’s.. Because I don’t need any of that stuff.

Trying to use what I have first before it goes bad/ expires.

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

Dr. Dennis Gross and Votary are the only ones calling my name at this point.

Reply ButtonReply

Tamar

Does it seem early for this?

Reply ButtonReply

Denise

The priced up for the us is not doable for me, but I had to laugh at the Larry king hair stuff.

Reply ButtonReply

Rose

That sure is an unfortunate name for a hair care company trying to crack the USA market.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth in Oklahoma

I’m honestly picturing something crypt-keeper style 😳

Reply ButtonReply

Svetlana7e

Not going to buy it. Right now this store offers 20 piece bag with purchase. I just bought what I needed and received pretty much same products for free. Not only that, free bag includes full size ND eyeshadows.

Reply ButtonReply

Isabel

I didn’t know how else to message you so I’m just replying to your comment, but was that you who won a giveaway on the NewBeauty live event tonight?? I heard Svetlana and was like could it be Svetlana from MSA? 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Peggy

$262?
On another note, if you have way too many samples, gather them and donate to women’s shelters. If you are in Seattle, Mary’s Place is very grateful.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

After the VAT is removed the calendar will be ~$220 (give or take depending on the exchange rate).

Reply ButtonReply

Rose

…Unless you are in Bozeman, MT. They only accept cash donations. They won’t even accept full-size, unused and unopened products.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I think this will be my most covetable calendar this year. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

Hi Luna, I’ve tried posted twice already, not sure why it won’t show up.

But I have a list of the calendars – the spoilers and when they’re come out, I don’t think I can post the website on here, but if you look up: ReallyR-e-e (I put the dashes in the name because it may be the reason why my post are not showing up), look that up and you should be able to find the list of advent calendars coming out.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Thanks! And we’re worth it 😉

Abby

@Luna – I think it’s because advent calendars are not that big here.
But I’ll be keeping my ear to the streets if I get any intel on if anything ships here.

We need a support group 😆

Seriously I will be buying everything this year because it’s been rough and I deserve to spoil myself 🙃 (I spoil myself regardless 😌)

Luna

Thanks Abby! 🙂 I wish we had a U.S. equivalent blog… or she would say whether calendars ship internationally.

jeannette

Thanks Abby, I went to your blog and bookmarked it.
This is super helpful.

AnninVA

Hi Luna. This is the only one I was considering this year and it doesn’t look like it’s as good as last year’s. What do you think?

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I compared the two, and just by glancing at the pics… while last year’s looked great to me, I think this year’s is a better fit for me. Right away I saw a few products in last year’s calendar I would gift, but I don’t see as many (only 2 or 3) in this year’s calendar. 🙂

Tiffany Nicole

my first comment didn’t show up so fingers crossed that this one does. I have never been tempted to spend so much on an advent calendar but if I can get this one before it sells out and they decide to ship to the US im definitely getting one of these. I already have the Huda Topaz Obsessions palette but wouldn’t mind having a back up.

Luna, do you think this is the best beauty advent calender available or is there a better one i should save my money for? Thank you in advance!

Reply ButtonReply

Tiffany Nicole

I’ve never bought an advent calendar that was this expensive but this one is definitely calling my name. If I can get one before they sell out im definitely going to. Luna, do you think this is the best beauty advent calender or is there a better one i should save my money for? Thank you in advance

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Hi Tiffany 🙂 It’s always hard to say which is the “best” calendar out there since we all have different likes (in terms of product curation), budgets, preferences (in terms of our expectations from what we want to get out of (like cost:value) or experience from the calendar), etc.

In terms of value, this definitely seems like one of the best, or even the best, out there (I’m not sure yet because I don’t know the cost to value for all of the similar types of calendars). This calendar will cost $219 (after VAT is removed) and have a value of $1,228 (all calculated at today’s exchange rate) for a savings of 82%, which I think is pretty awesome!

In terms of curation, first, there is no other beauty calendar I’ve seen that includes as many products as Cult Beauty does, which for me is another plus in my book. 😉 Second, I love the variety of products & brands included. I don’t doubt a lot of these brands will be included in similar multi-brand calendars that include mostly high-end to luxe products, but what I noticed over the past few years of getting these types of calendars each year is that while there may be a total of no more than 5 different products that overlap between two different calendars (never the same two calendars that I can recall) the actual products are basically always different despite being from a same brand that is featured in other calendars.

In terms of price, if this calendar were to be compared to its counterparts like Net-a-Porter, Space NK, Liberty, or Harrods, it’s actually one of the least expensive (Fortnum & Mason may be comparable in price to CB, but I don’t think they’re selling to the U.S. this year) and has the highest value(!) as those other calendars last year were usually around the $300 mark with a value in the $700’s or $800’s. Again, I don’t know the full details of those other calendars for this year, so that could very well change.

I think some really good less expensive alternatives to this calendar are Lookfantastic & Beauty Expert (I want to say Skinstore too, but they didn’t do a calendar last year despite doing a calendar in prior years). I can’t recall the the price of Lookfantastic’s calendar, but their actual calendar has always been beautiful to me, and I’ve always loved their curation. Last year, Beauty Expert’s calendar was $125 with a $606 value resulting in a 80% savings! The only thing with BE’s calendar is that it’s a 12-day calendar BUT it’s all mostly full size products.

Sorry I couldn’t say directly which calendar is the “best” one out there, but at least for me the reason why I’m most excited about Cult Beauty’s calendar is because I missed out on getting their first calendar last year by mere minutes, so I’ve never had the chance to experience this calendar before, plus I’m loving its value & curation. It’s all definitely worth it to me, and I hope all of us that would like to get it are able to this year! 🙂

Leyla

I have the same question Tiffany…Luna always knows best…🤓

Nat

No, thanks. This is a car payment. Looks beautiful though
