I’m really looking forward to the PMD Clean. I’ve had my eye on it for a while after using the Foreo Luna from FFF so for me the value is definitely there. It’s like getting that item for half off plus everything else that comes in the box. This is my first Luxe and I’m not sure if I will keep this sub but I’m happy with what I’m getting.

Hello,
Are you only able to buy the luxe BoxyCharm or do you need to buy the regular and the luxe?

Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

You have to have a subscription to the base box in order to upgrade to Luxe, which is once per quarter. Each quarter, the Luxe will replace your base box and you will be charged the extra amount that month for the Luxe version. So, to summarize, four times per year, you will receive a Luxe box in place of your base box. The other eight months, you will be billed for, and receive, a base box. Hope this helps.

I’m on waiting list for Premium. Does anybody know, if I cancel my Luxe and keep my base, will that effect place on the Premium wait list? Honestly I like the products in the base box much better than the Luxe. Id be happy with the Hank and Henry palette and the Farmacy Cherry Balm.

Coco

It does thank you!

Does anyone know if we can still sign up to get the Luxe box?

Debbie

Thank you to everyone who pointed out that selecting a different item in the first selection caused a different selection to populated in the second voice group.

I wanted the heat protectant which didn’t populate with murad. So I switch to the virility iron which I don’t want or need but it was better than metal straws, a dollar store liner or Ross quality earrings for my unpeirced ears.

I will sell the curling iron on Mercari and keep the spray.

Courtney

This is not luxe. I cancelled my subscription. I’d rather take $50 to Sephora and buy one or two items that are precisely what I really want.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz

Exactly! I’m so disgusted that when I went in yesterday to make my choice, there was nothing left to choose. I’m done, I cancelled. And I won’t be looking at anymore spoilers so I won’t be tempted to resub. Sorry boxycharm, I’ve been burned too many times

The murad eye cream is packaging from 2016. I don’t want a 4 year old eye cream, and the Luxe choice options are terrible, (curling iron pulls hair, QMS who?) which means the surprise will be an even bigger let down and also why the tarte palette is no longer avali.
I realize what I am getting is considered a great deal but lately when you add in the cheap wholesale China made skincare, brands no body has heard of, and you’re taking companies expired or unused previously packaged products plus the fact that with Boxycharm I am more nervous than I am excited when opening it to see what I have means it is time for me to close this account. Hoping to be genuinely excited about at least one product means that my profile isn’t being used and they are just throwing w/e at us. I love Ipsy because not only do I use the products I get, (including the 500 eyeliners,) but I feel like they are listening to us and working to improve.

Reply ButtonReply

Daisy

Do they have a batch code? They very well could be using old packaging but not old product.

Maria

I totally agree with everything you just said. I also have come to almost dread opening my box. Especially if I’ve seen the awesome variants I know won’t be in my box. Although personally I’ve had similar frustrating experiences with Ipsy but certainly not nearly every single month like Boxy. And look at how much feedback customers give Boxy that gets ignored or responded to defensively or negatively. I don’t feel like they’re always trying to improve customer experiences but rather they’re focused on improving their profit margins. And only coincidentally sometimes everyone is happier with the changes. Every time I have had even a small problem with Ipsy they’ve gone above and beyond to not only rectify the situation, but also gift me a product to show that they take responsibility for the negative experience (even if technically they aren’t) and value my business enough to make a major effort to keep it. Boxy typically handles things the opposite way in nearly every aspect. Sometimes they’re even quite blatant about how little you matter and have been known to recommend or offer to cancel your subscription rather than have to deal with you. They can afford to do this because they throw everything they have into obtaining new business. They don’t mind losing little old you when they just had a dozen more sign up in less than a day thanks to their blitz email and social media marketing. I’ve been with both Ipsy and Boxy for over five years. Ipsy has been disappointing me pretty badly lately with some of the things they’re doing including the products they select for the higher tiers, but I feel like they genuinely want you to share all your thoughts, opinions, ideas etc. and that they do actually use this feedback to improve. Boxy doesn’t want to hear it. If/when you get a response it’s inevitably not even close to what you’re expecting or at least hoping for.

Completely agree with you! I’m unsubscribing today, I’m done with all the opportunities I’ve been giving them to makes things right. been subscribed since the beginning and a luxybox member. never have been more disappointed, enough is enough.

Lauren P.

How do you know the packaging is from 2016? I thought the rebranded packaging for the hydration line started mid year 2019 with their 30th anniversary?

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

What is shown on BC appears to be the old packaging. All the new Murad items I’ve recently purchased in this line, directly from Murad, are in different packaging.

Carol Ann.

QMS is huge in Europe.

Reply ButtonReply

Jillian

It’s so screwed up that they’re cherry picking the second choice based on the first item and it doesn’t even make sense because that QMS lip stuff is supposedly crazy expensive. I’m really souring on BoxyCharm lately, between the Storybook scandal, the Faccia scandal, putting house brand makeup in the box, and not allowing luxe subscribers to choose from all the available choices, I decided to put myself on the fashionista waitlist and as soon as I’m in over there, it’s goodbye Boxy.

Dani

Jillian,

I’ve been with Boxy for many years (6 or more I think) and began getting frustrated once they started sending all the unequal and often unwanted (by nearly everyone) variants. Then came the BoxyLuxe fiasco. It took me a long time to let go of that grudge. Since that time their business practices have continued to go downhill. Unfortunately their products overall have improved greatly in many ways, Plus offering us the chance to choose a product made a big difference to me personally. But I have chosen to overlook their shady ways mainly because of the pop up sales. I’ve given up my Luxe and Premium boxes but I keep my base mainly for those sales. I do worry that any day now it will come out that the many items I have purchased at those sales are counterfeit or something equally dubious.

That said, I have been checking out other boxes to replace them for nearly a year now. I tried The Box from Fashionsta a while back and I have to tell you I was not impressed. Not with the products anyway. They have excellent customer service and I truly believe they want to please people just as much as they want to turn a profit (unlike you-know-who) but they’re just so hit and miss. While I definitely appreciate trying products and brands I’ve never heard of (which is super rare for me being a total beauty product junkie for decades now), I just didn’t feel like I was getting new and exciting things from up and coming clean beauty or other niche brands. It felt more like the products were simply obscure and probably haven’t caught on for good reason. I just got a very clearancy (forgive me but I couldn’t think of a real word that worked well enough) vibe from my boxes. To me it was like getting a good old fashioned grab bag so many retailers sold in my youth. You knew you’d probably get mostly junk or stuff you just wouldn’t like but you got a lot of stuff for a little price and it was more about the surprise element.

Honestly I could name several other boxes at or close to The Box’s price point that are way better in terms of a balanced mix of new brands and products but also well established ones already well recognized and highly praised in the beauty world. My absolute favorite so far is Tribe Beauty. They seem a tad more expensive and do charge shipping but it’s well worth it, particularly if you prefer more makeup than skincare. And in reality they’re less expensive because they’re bimonthly which I actually prefer. They let you customize at least one item for each box and the only variants they send are different shades usually. Or one of two different brands/types of a lip product but similar colors. You might get one or two barely different items than I do but they’ll be extremely close in most ways including retail value. So there’s no reading about or watching unboxing videos where you see how much better your box could’ve been. And they’re still evolving but each change has been a positive one. We’re getting one of two holographic makeup bags in the next box for example. And if I’m not mistaken I think they just increased the number of products you get each month. I’m thinking it might actually be eight. I haven’t been a subscriber for long but I’ve been reading reviews of their boxes for quite some time and can’t recall ever seeing a sample size of anything. And while I am getting in in years, I still feel young enough to appreciate that they often include more edgier and/or bolder products and colors along with a few more classic/standard items and shades.

My goodness I think I should just shut up and ask them for a job already! 😄
Anyway…apologies for my wordiness. I just thought I should try to spare you some potential disappointment from The Box (unless they’ve REALLY upped their game in the last 2 or so boxes I haven’t seen) and offer some unsolicited advice including a super detailed alternative recommendation. Regardless of which box you trade Boxy for I truly hope you love it!

Brava! Well said (written?). There are positive things to be said about Boxycharm, particularly when it comes to add-on and pop-up possibilities. What I find somewhat disconcerting is their excitement in expanding their customer base. Perhaps they should be trying a bit harder to please their present customers as opposed to adding greater numbers of customers which means more variations for their present members.

Jennifer

I cancelled and will get it next time if it’s better.. don’t need another palette I’m getting the Fenty, am not paying for more straws that I don’t need and have a Clarisonic so all in all it’s not the box for me. I hope others love it though☺️☺️

Reply ButtonReply

Jacki

I chose this morning well before these spoilers. I picked the Tarte palette. The only choices for the second item was between a liner and straws (I recently purchased a similar set for $1 from Marshals.) So they reserved the nicest 2nd item for those who selected more expensive first choices?! That’s seriously some messed up logic

Reply ButtonReply

J L

Earlier in the day, I picked the Tarte palette and the straws. I am planning on gifting the straws but I wish the boxes would stop giving straws. I already own a number of reusable glass straws.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie Whitman

so going over everything right now the Moroccan oil I can’t choose or the tarte palette I don’t understand why it’s listed in the items to choose for what… The pictures for those two items are lighter than the rest and what they’re sold out? Are you kidding me people work you don’t have all day to spend on their personal social media pages. I just now was able to get into my account about an hour ago and now look what it’s sold out? That’s all I can think of I don’t understand every month something is wrong with boxycharm I so want to quit I so want to cancel them I’m done I can’t take it no more they get too much money from me over $90 a month and you would think that I would at least be able to pick the two items I want that’s crazy

Reply ButtonReply

giselle

You sound very frustrated, girl so cancel!! If you feel like you’re spending too much money with them monthly and not satisfied. Cancel it! WHy be miserable? that’s what i did!

Reply ButtonReply

Debbie

I was soooo bummed by the choices in the second set. The morracan hair stuff was out. I didn’t even want to select from the three other items and it forced me to. If boxy is going to become fff junior with lifestyle items I am out. I don’t wear costume jewelry. I Hate the taste of metal. The appeal liner is a fake brand dollar store item, might even be a dirty little secrets brand.

I sub to beauty boxes for skincare and makeup. If you’re going to turn it into A road store than I will just shop there. When I signed up for luxe it was NOT billed as a lifestyle box.

So disappointed. What is the point of choice if the choices are crap?

Reply ButtonReply

Cynthia

I couldn’t agree with you more regarding becoming a FFF box. BoxyCharm if you are reading this, so many FFF members cancelled due to the sold out items and quality of cheaper items. (myself included) And, I recently cancelled my BoxyLuxe, for the same reason. We subscribe to BoxyCharm for the love of makeup, not straws and earrings! There are already plenty of boxes like that. Please, stay in the makeup and skincare lane!!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Sharon Paige

Thank you to the people that showed me how to get my choice items!! I hit the Boxy logo and voila!! I’ve dmed Boxy about it before and they never respond. Maybe they don’t know either 😂😂😂!!

Reply ButtonReply

Debra

So why is it called a “choice” if you can’t choose what you want ? Eyeroll

Reply ButtonReply

Lily

STOP filtering comments!!!

Tarte is sold out. No longer a choice.

Reply ButtonReply

Toni

Yes why is it saying something is a duplicate when it’s not!!

Reply ButtonReply

Lily

The Tarte palette is sold out. Not available as a choice now.

I just checked ” Pick for me” and it took the second choice away. Dang, please do not send me hair tools!!

Bought a Tarte palette from their pop up sale, I was so ticked that this was posted in the hours I was unable to choose, I come home, the one good thing is sold out.

I couldn’t deal with 2 Murad anything, so another box has that choice with the Moroccan hair oil spray.

Kinda sick I missed out on the one item I wanted.

Reply ButtonReply

Cheyenne

This really doesn’t feel Luxe to me. Wish we could skip a month.

I really don’t want the Tarte palette but I also know that if I pick one of the other options, I’ll probably end up with that ugly BC palette.

I don’t see anything nice in the second option, Appeal is awful. Earrings look super cheap. And 40 dollar straws? I can get prettier and cheaper ones from Jeffree Star. I guess that I’ll get the Moroccan Oil and try to find someone to give it to.
Only thing I’m really excited for so far is the Nars.

Reply ButtonReply

Jana

I’m happy. I was able to get the Murad eye cream (I stash eye cream like it’s gold and I miss getting the Murad discount that my daughter used to get when she worked as an aesthetician) and the earrings. I also added pop up stuff for the fourth time. I got two of the Teami matcha starter kits – one for me and one for my daughter’s fiancé who introduced me to matcha. Earlier, I got the microdermabrasion kit and the teeth whitener kit. I got the Becca powder and the infuser bottle as well. I like having the “lifestyle” choices on Pop Up, since I no long subscribe to FFF.

Reply ButtonReply

Apricot

Does anyone know if they will do add-ons this month (besides the pop-up)?

Reply ButtonReply

giselle

No, not during pop up months

Reply ButtonReply

Apricot

Thank you.

Anita Elizabeth

Won’t let me select but the options are there. Ugh.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie Whitman

I think I’m having the same issue sort of… Out of the three choices there’s two sections with three choices each the tarte palette it won’t let me choose that which is the one I want of course has to be the one I want you know wouldn’t wouldn’t be boxycharm if something didn’t go wrong choice there’s an item I can’t even remember what it is because I got so mad that it won’t allow me to choose either leaving me the earrings in the lickliter which I don’t want any of them. Anybody figured this out yet

Reply ButtonReply

Dayan

I still don’t have the option to choose… Anyone else having same issue?? So frustrating…

Reply ButtonReply

Sandra Comstock

I have the same problem and I’m not even getting reminder emails. If it wasn’t for Facebook I wouldn’t even know when the choice was open but like I said still doesn’t work no matter what I do. This is the second month in a row.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelli

Try clicking on the BoxyCharm logo in white letters at the top. That’s what I had to do. Hope this helps.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelli

I had that issue then figure out to get back to the home page that says “choose now” you have to click on the BoxyCharm logo at the top. I hope this helps.

Reply ButtonReply

Anita Elizabeth

Same. I see the products but won’t let me pick. Sigh

Reply ButtonReply

Christa Hodges

And I’m praying to the Boxycharm gods for the Boxycharm eyeshadow palette 🙏🤞

Reply ButtonReply

Misty C

I believe everyone is getting the boxy palette, including the base box.

Reply ButtonReply

Maria

Unfortunately some people are getting the Hank & Henry palette instead. From the comments I’ve read most people are saying they’d much rather have the H&H one but not me. I think it’s one of the ugliest palettes I’ve ever seen honestly. I saw the Boxy palette in a YouTube video a while back and the pics on here really don’t do it justice. It’s gorgeous in my opinion. But with my luck I’ll get the H&H one. 😄🤷🏻‍♀️

Christa H.

I chose the mini curling iron and the moroccan oil hair spray. 🤗 I already own the eyeshadow palette and QMS…

Reply ButtonReply

Toni

Do you like the lip cream

Reply ButtonReply

Debbie

The lip cream stings the crap out of me. I am using it but not enjoying it and I would never buy it. Not impressed.

Yessy

Same

Reply ButtonReply

Ingermaria

So annoying, I wanted the Tarte palette and the earrings, but to get the earrings I had to choose from one of the skincare items, and I didn’t want the Murad, and I got the QMS before, so I just chose the QMS again, ugh.

Reply ButtonReply

Audra K

I opted out of BoxyLuxe. I still have a Foreo Luna from a past FabFitFun box…I have more eyeshadow than I know what to do with…and I don’t need more metal straws or a lip liners. Sometimes you reach a point where enough is enough.

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

Agree.

Reply ButtonReply

Aidan

Well know it makes sense why base boxy got to choose first. Not being able to choose if you downgrade your sub is probably keeping people subbed. At this point the only thing in luxe I’m tempted by is the Nars and only one shade which I already have a sample of. So I canceled. I have a Clarisonic, so don’t need the PMD. I have the Tarte palette, don’t want the Boxy palette, and the QMS came in the last Luxe box. I don’t need a curling iron since we got one in the September(?) box and I have so many eye creams that I’ll never use them all. After seeing the second choice I decided to let it go since this is the first time I haven’t been excited about any spoilers. Now to decide if I want to keep the base…

Reply ButtonReply

Toni

I was in the waitlists for Lux so I wasn’t able to choose my item for my base box . When I went on and I couldn’t choose the palette which was the only thing I wanted , I took myself off the waitlist and if they don’t let me choose my item I may cancel my base box. I get the premium and I normally love it . But this month sucks but I’m not willing to cancel that one just yet .
