    • I’m seeing this comment, Luna! I’ve been waiting for this to drop. I got the email about it a couple days ago and came to the thread to see if the UK crackers have dropped. I think I prefer that calendar to this one. The GWP product list is extensive, but they seem to all be tiny samples. There aren’t even travel sizes, they’re all just samples.

      • Last year the cracker gwp dropped on 10/31, so I’m anticipating it to go live some time next week. 🙂 I agree, the products in the gwp do seem pretty small (I was really noticing this when I was typing them out), but that’s okay since I was planning on getting this calendar anyways… even with the small sizes in the gwp, I still feel like I’m getting more bang for my buck with the gwp as opposed to getting the calendar by itself. 🙂

      • Right, for sure, if you’re getting it anyway you should definitely get it with the GWP! I’m still unsure.

I just got my F&M calendar today. SO. MAGNIFICENT. I think you ordered it as well? Maybe I’m wrong but it seems not Christmasy at all, which I really appreciate. The box is gorgeous.

      • I did get the Fortnum & Mason calendar 🙂 It’s so pretty, and it’s actually a bright spot in my calendar line up… literally… I didn’t really notice when I ordered my calendars, but now that I’ve received most of them, they all look surprisingly dark for being Christmas items. lol I should be receiving the Space NK calendar this week, so at least that red box will also add some color to the line up. 🙂

      • Also Luna (and anyone else), if you had a choice between Liberty and Space NK, which would you go with?

      • Considering Space NK has their gwps, I think I would go with Space NK since I’d be getting the most bang for my buck, plus of course I really like the products in the calendar, also you get rewards in the form of cash back with your purchase (I got $20 cash back for my purchase to use on a future purchase).

But, if I were to take the gwp out of the equation, and solely focus on what’s in the calendars, I think I would choose the Liberty calendar because it features brands we don’t often see in US boxes like Byredo, Diptyque, Votary, LIXIRSKIN, Susan Kauffman, and Le Labo… I just mention these ones since they’re appealing to me 🙂

      • Thanks for your response, Luna! I got myself pumped about Net-a-Porter and now that’s not an option. I should probably just enjoy my F&M and stop lusting after other things. I’m going to keep an eye out for those crackers though and then decide about Space NK and also hope for a restock of Net-a-Porter. It’s probably silly to hope; no one ever restocks advent calendars.

  3. I agree completely with both of you. I used to love Space NK, they were my very first huge gwp bag many years ago. They were just amazing and always included something new, cutting edge, & exciting… at least to me. The Barney’s bag isn’t very good this time either if you’ve gotten most of those same samples a million times. I used to get both the Space Nk & Barney’s Love Yourself Event bags 2x a year religiously with good step up gifts plus a lot in between too. Those events used to be pretty exciting & I would literally wait for the spoilers and pre-order dates to order one. Now I usually pass and wait for a sale somewhere else instead. If the two overlap at Space Nk this fall, I may bite too.

  4. I totally agree that their buy-in levels are getting a bit out of control and I also agree that the gwp bags were starting to feel redundant, at least to me… those two reasons are actually why I literally haven’t spent a cent there this year… and I got EVERY gwp bag and the step up gift (oh ya!, I forgot to mention their (usually) full-size step up gifts they usually offer for only $30 more than the gwp buy-in!) they would offer the past few years (which was the only time I’d shop from)… thus the redundancy. Lol. But I have to say that their last gwp for the Summer did have a decent number of products that caught my eye and I know I don’t have…so maybe my patience is paying off? Lol. Oh! And about the buy-in, I still can’t help but chuckle how on, I think it was, their February gwp, they actually used the word “simply” before saying you had to spend $285 to get the gwp. LOL!!! (the buy-in has been slowly creeping up from $250 when I first started getting them) I guess us sub box addicts definitely aren’t their target market! Even though I think the buy-ins are fairly high, I still don’t mind going for it this time since I’ll be spending almost the amount required anyways to get the calendar. I can’t recall if the Space NK calendars ever went on sale last year, but for me it’s worth it to pay full price if I can get the gwp with it. If they didn’t offer the gwp, I’d most likely wait too to see if it goes on sale since I’ll already be getting other calendars that offer the same type of products, so if I missed out on this one so be it. 🙂

    • I thought I’d add that it’s really only their Winter & Fall gwps whose buy-ins are in the upper $200s. I think that’s because of how many products they include in them. Their other gwps (that still have a sizable amount of products) are usually around $150-$175, which is on par with stores like Neiman Marcus (whose gwps, to me, don’t stand a chance against Space NK’s).

  5. Luna is honestly the real MVP on MSA 😂 I speak for everyone when I say THANK. YOU. for your time doing and posting price breakdowns on all things beauty when you undoubtedly have other things going on and you don’t even work for MSA. I think it’s so kind of you! Just had to show appreciation where it’s needed!! lol 😁

    • Well said Raquel. Big Thank from me also.

      • Thank YOU both!! 🙂 I have so much fun doing all of this, and since I don’t have anyone IRL that enjoys (okay, is addicted to 😉 ) beauty products, gwps, boxes, deals, etc. like I do I’m so grateful I’ve found MSA where all of us addicts can share in this fun life indulgence together while helping each other out to save whatever $$$ we can or get the most bang for our buck. I’m so incredibly thankful for the MSA community we have here. 🙂

      • It is definitely a great community! And the addiction is real so it’s nice to have others who share it too 😂 I love trying new things and most of the time the value is just too unbeatable to pass up. It’s not our fault we’re addicts! 😂😭😭

    • Ditto! Thank you Luna 🙂

  6. Pretty sure I will get the US one at GWP time.

  7. All I did was look at the price and said big fat NO. However, I would love to have this for cheaper

  8. Wow Luna, thanks for this! I was tempted to just get the UK version… but with the gwp and that Barbara Sturm serum, I may just wait and get the US version.

    • You’re welcome! 🙂

  9. Well done, Luna. Thanks. So the best play would be for two to kick in. Valuable to know.

    • GWP! Silly auto correct.

      • I think so! I mean if you’re going to be spending that much on a calendar, might as well double the amount of products you’ll be getting while you’re at it! 🙂

  10. I thought I’d compare the contents of both calendars so we can see what products are overlapping, and if anyone’s interested in getting one of them I thought maybe seeing the comparisons may help in deciding which one is more worth it to you. 🙂

A couple of things to note:

    1) These are 25-day calendars, but I noticed that they only listed 24 products (which includes the gift card in the U.S. calendar). I have no doubt there will be 25 products, so I’m guessing one will be a mystery. lol

    2) Space NK US should be coming out with their mega gwp bag (usually 30+ items) within the next week or two, and Space NK UK has a 12-count holiday cracker gwp (~30 items) that should come out around the end of October. Last year, both calendars were still available when these gwps launched.

    Both calendars include:
Chantecaille Bio Lifting Cream + (0.34oz)
    Eve Lom Original Cleanser (0.68oz)
    Hourglass Caution Extreme Mascara (0.19oz)
Kevyn Aucoin Contour Duo Palette – Mini Highlighter/Medium Sculpting Powder (2×2.5g)
Lipstick Queen Nothing but the Nudes – The Truth (full-size)
    Malin+Goetz Eucalyptus Deodorant (1oz)
    Olaplex No.3 Bond Perfector (full-size)

    U.S. Calendar (only) – $265 (a $812 value)
Ilia Liquid Light Serum Highlighter in Astrid – Rose Gold (full-size)

It’s so nice to see there isn’t so much overlap as there was last year!

    • Thanks for taking the time to post this, Luna! ❤
      You’re the best! 👍😆

      • My pleasure! 🙂

    • Luna,
I cannot thank you enough for this breakdown. I’m very much a fan of waiting for the GWPs and I loved the holiday crackers gift last year from the UK. I don’t want to buy both advent calendars so having this breakdown is invaluable. Thank you so much!!
Also – for anyone with family (or really good friends!) overseas, the UK calendar ships free internationally which is a huge help if you want to spoil someone far away this holiday season.

      • Yay! I’m glad it was helpful! 🙂 That’s so cool you got the crackers last year! I’m really hoping that the UK calendar is still available when they do the crackers again. 🙂

    • Sorry if dumb question – what’s GWP? Is it gift with purchase 🙂

      • Yes, it is.

      • It’s not a dumb question at all! And yes, it stands for gift with purchase. 🙂

      • Oh wonderful – thank you. It’s got me suckered in. I’m British but live in the states so I’m having a hard time trying to stick to just the US version when I can get the UK one too and have it shipped to my mum’s for when I go back to visit her in May, like a second Christmas present to me from me … 😉 Arghhhh! I’m going to be so poor!
