I have found myself really enjoying allot of Margot Elena products & look forward to discovering even more. But from what I’ve seen for me personally, simply shopping their offerings for exactly what I want is a better route to take. There are often sales to take advantage of as well. For instance I just purchased a full lineup of the True Vanilla fragrance line for $70 delivered to my door off of a GMA deal. (50% off retail, free shipping). And this included full sized bubble bath, shower gel, cream parfume, bottled parfume, n hand cream. I think I’ll continue to purchase selectively

I am late contributing to this because I take one item out of the box Every few days as a treat. I don’t peek. I just stick my hand under the lid & pull out the first thing I touch. I LOVED THIS BOX! These boxes always make me happy but this one really was the best so far.

The box isn’t on their site now, are they updating or removing the box as an option.

Reply ButtonReply

Cara

It is still available and always has been. They only removed the annual option.

The box is still on the website and available and always has been. They only removed the
annual option. This is how drama and rumors start 🙄

They took it down for a day or two actually and when you clicked the link you got a 404 page error.

Some useful info if you’re reading this and trying to decide whether to get or keep this box:

(1) If you look at all the boxes, they ALL (even the early “better” boxes) have a retail value of about $200-230

(2) They ALL (again, from the very beginning) have at least $50-$60 (and max of that value made up in M.E. lifestyle “stuff” – postcards, pencils, mugs, bags, etc. etc. Not beauty/candles/creams/perfume. Winter last year was the notable exception with almost $100 of the value coming from “stuff.”

Personally, and I think others agree, I have mixed feelings about the “stuff” – decor and stationary are very personal, and sometimes I like it, sometimes I don’t at all.

The beauty is less controversial because either you can use it or you can gift it (it all comes beautifully packaged).

For me (maybe for others too) the box FEELS like it has a highly variable value, because sometimes that “stuff” is literally worthless to me, and sometimes I love it. It makes it feel amazing some quarters and like a bit of a rip off other quarters.

But I think it’s important to say that the retail value of the box, and the breakdown between “stuff” and beauty/home is pretty static. My advice would be to inspect whether you like the general style of her decor items and are willing for a significant portion of the box value to come from that.

If you only value the beauty/home stuff (as I do usually, to be honest), then it is not a fantastic deal, since you pay almost $60 (between cost and shipping) to get an average of $120-130 in the beauty/home goods and of course you aren’t choosing the actual items or fragrances so some are always a miss. You might be better off just shopping the sales..

I missed this box and really like the apron and towel as it matches my kitchen. **sigh**

I got my box on Saturday and canceled today. I am getting tired of inflated sub box retail value.

Between ending annual subscriptions and lowering the promised value of the boxes I think all the complaints have officially killed yet another box. Sad.

So people should just be happy they get a box? Should we tell that to people who complain about Sephora and Target boxes?

If a company promises something on a website, they should do their best to deliver what they promised. I don’t know why they ended the annual subscriptions. If they promised a box worth at least $300 and can’t deliver on that, they should let their customers know so that those who object can opt out of getting the box. You have every right to love your box and the next person has the right to hate it. Ultimately it is on the subscription box company to take legitimate complaints under consideration and strive to do better.

Dianne

Is there going to be an “official” review of this box?

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

To be fair no one told them to make promises they had no intentions of keeping. That’s what the boxes don’t fail to realize if you write that the promised value is X and you don’t deliver then the fault rests with you and not the mean complainers that went into it expecting what they were promised. ME started off amazing and over delivered on the first few boxes and set expectations that were then hard for them to reach so they had to scale back. Sad? Yes. but the fault lies with them. Same with HR they promised a value they couldn’t deliver on and then are shocked by the response. No one is pushing these brands to play bait and switch they do that in order to get a flood of subscribers, the problem is then dealing with them after they got their money.

Dream Little Luxe Eau de Parfum 9.50 on their site and listed as 11 here so extra 2 for the bag it’s in?
Infinite Beauty Sea Mud Clay Facial Masque is not sold and definitely feels like a sample but whatevs.
The towel an apron are also not sold on the ME site and this is where it irked me. I believe the people that say it feels cheap because I strongly felt that way about the kimono and if ME doesn’t want to sell it one their site for the amount they claim then they understand that they shorted the sub box on quality when it comes to that item and can claim any RV. The subscription page says that ALL items in the box are the same items sold to the overall public and for the mask, towel, and apron that just doesn’t seem to be true. I love the presentation of ME boxes and for a year had two subs but I definitely noticed a dip in quality and size of the products from full size 20 oz bubble bath to now 10% of that. And full size perfumes down to what most brands consider a sample size.

Reply ButtonReply

Christina

I loved this box. Not as many full size as usual, it’s true, but I loved the apron and towel and perfume and still found it to be useful and a nice value for the money.

So, for everyone that got this box and is disappointed (like me), I suggest contacting your bank. You clearly agreed to terms that said NO samples and over $300 value, both of which they broke this season. I’ve talked to my bank and they said a chargeback can be issued in cases like this, as the company didn’t deliver what it promised.

I don’t usually advocate this, but this is a $50 box + shipping that made certain promises. They cheaped out. There’s no excuse for this box an sending customer 2.5 fl oz of bubble bath. Don’t roll over and let them get away with bare faced lying to you if you’re unhappy.

For the people saying they love this box: It’s half the size as it usually is and full of their cheap to produce items. They sent 3ml of perfume and at least 2 samples then inflated the price of everything to get it close to $201. Don’t let companies act like this. This isn’t a case of not liking the product, this is a case of a company bare faced lying to you.

Nanci

I love my box. I’m sorry you are disappointed but stop trying to convince everyone else that they are wrong to be happy with their box. I’m so tired of seeing people encouraging people to do chargebacks just because they don’t like the stuff they got. I see this all the time on msa. “Just do a chargeback ” Sigh.

For me, the full sized lotion and bath gel alone made up a $50 value, plus then the apron and everything else, so I’m very happy with what I got. Especially compared to some other hundred dollar boxes that give you much less than this lately’

When I received my box, I noticed the beauty of the print on the apron and matching towel. Then I unwrapped all my goodies. Truly and completely happy with my box! Im sorry you’re sad, but they’ve never promised $300 worth of goods as I read the fine print also. The perfumed lotion and perfume are both small, but I for one am glad to have purchased this “sold out” box. And I would never cry fraud over a gorgeous Margot Elena collection!

Cookie

Their website used to say $300 worth of stuff, they changed it to say $200 after a few recent complaints.

Jessica

ME’s terms of service for the Discovery Box promise sizes larger than sample, which all of these products are. They have fulfilled the terms of service. If you are dissatisfied, then please notify the company, cancel your subscription, post on social media, etc. But to contact your bank and demand a refund is not cool. If too many customers do this and the bank sides with you, you will be putting the box out of business.

Jessica

ETA: promised value is, and always has been, $200+.

rachel

thank you for letting me know i am wrong to like this box, lol

I just got my box today and it’s my first one and I was not disappointed! Love the towel and apron! I wasn’t sure if I would love some of the smells, but I love them all minus the lollia perfume, but I will use that as a stocking stuffer! Here’s to hoping for a great winter box for Christmas!

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I got my box today!!! It’s definitely one of my favorites so far. About the only item I wish was different was the tiny bubble bath in a scent we’ve already seen a lot and I don’t care for.

The apron is nice and a great size – it’s adjustable in height at the neck which is great. I always like cute tea towels. The inclusion of a full size body lotion was great. And Lollia perfume! It was nice to see some other brands shine, usually TokyoMilk seems to be the most prominent. And that hipster elf card is hilarious! Although, did her stationery prices go up? It used to be around $5 a card, and I only got three. Though the photo looks like four, so maybe I am just missing one. Didn’t see that fox one. I’ll look through the packaging again.

Reply ButtonReply

Nanci

There’s 4. I got the fox one and the other 3.

I was happy last quarter and I am thrilled this quarter. This is the first time I didn’t get multiple boxes and I wish I had. The apron and dishtowel are my favorite home items yet. I won’t use the masque or lip gloss. I gave a few of the perfumed items to my mom, who loves them. Win win win win…

If anyone else wants to sell their box…I looked on Poshmark and the other box is sold.

If anyone doesn’t want their apron and would like to work something out with an avid cook, please let me know! This is the first ME Box I haven’t gotten and it has the special item I’d use the most 😅

I have plans on using my apron if you wanna buy it.

Bee – I’d be willing to sell you the apron, kitchen towel and lip balm. 🙂

Beckie Siers

Hi Bee, I am supposed to be getting my box today and would be happy to send you the apron. Let me know how we can coordinate since we can’t list emails here. Thanks! Beckie

Bee

Hi Beckie!
I sent you a email, thank you so much for the offer! I’m so excited, I love that apron so much. 😁

Erica

So excited! This is my first ME box! It’s in transit and I am constantly checking tracking lol. It’s only one state over now so hopefully within the next couple days!!!

Alex

Are they changing the subscription price or shipping price? When I signed up there was a nice gift with an annual purchase. I hope they do that again soon 🤞🏼

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

I had an annual from the second box and there wasnt a gift.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

I think it was a Black Friday promotion for a tote bag and candle with annual purchase.

Stephanie

They don’t have annual anymore

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

Ohhhhhh. Thanks. So I guess you gotta rush and buy each season.

S

Wow wish all their boxes were this amazing!! The winter box with almost all wish scented products (and the IMO awful cheap kimono) really ruined the ME experience for me. Well that and the fact I was billed after unsubscribing. I now only buy their products when they have an online sale.

I am so dissappinted that i had to skip this box due to a recent move and purchasing a new home.
The boxes are always so beautiful.
I still have the last box just taped back up with all its contents and haven’t unpacked it yet so.. that’ll help me feel better. That and of course my new home that was much needed for a better fit for my daughter in a wheelchair. Bigger house and moved to a bigger city with better medical. Win win

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

My subscription ran out with the last box so I did not get this one and I am o.k. with that. This box is nice but I still have some product to get through.

For those on the fence about ME the boxes are absolutely beautiful. One of my least favorite items (the kimono from the winter box) has turned out to be one of my favorite items ever. I use it as a cover up over my pj’s.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

I am still trying to work the kimono into regular use. The eye sachet turned out to be useful for covering ice packs. I tripped on the dishwasher door, got a huge bruise on my leg. I took the lavender packet out and slipped an ice pack inside.

I have plans on using my apron if you wanna buy it.

Caligirl

I have been subscribed since the first box. This is one I will never give up. I find it hard to part with the items also.

Tamara

This is my favorite sub. Everything is beautifully packaged and the items all look and smell so nice. If the quality stays as nice as it has been, I do not see myself tiring of this box anytime soon.

Jenna

This is a beautiful box! I wish it wasn’t sold out or I’d totally buy this one!

I’m excited for this box!

This feels a little disjointed in curation but is undeniably worth the cost of the box. I had an annual sub previously. I chose not to resub, partially due to product overload but also because 4 boxes was enough for me to experience the M.E. product line and to move on. I would absolutely recommend this sub for those with circumstances different than my own. The presentation is gorgeous, as well.
