Why say vegan silk instead of bamboo? I just don’t get the trend to say vegan in lieu of what a product really is.

My guess is to try to explain what the material feels like or is trying to mimic. Most people know what silk feels like but if it just said bamboo some might wonder what that feels like or the texture.

Can we please not let “vegan silk” become a common phrase? Just call it satin! Vegan leather is annoying enough, but vegan silk is just totally ridiculous.

Of course satin is a weave, which can be made of pretty much any fiber. It’s not inherently nice or fancy or good quality, despite being associated with high end fabrics. But at least calling these scrunchies satin would be accurate!
