I subbed for the August box but then it was late. I wanted to check it out first but before I could do that I was already charged for September. I loved the August box (it had an extra bag of goodies due to it being their birthday month!) and didnt complain about the Sept box because I saw the first spoiler and wanted the wristlet!
Then i got so excited when i saw that they were having a “sale” on the older boxes. But like some of you i wondered where the sale was, if I looked over something, etc. I mean it really looks to be the same prices.. Not for Me!.
Will cancel after this month.. I like the box but it’s way too pricey. Little over $60 with the shipping!

A lot of people have complained about mystery boxes from this company but I have had great experiences. Every item received was from previous boxes so if you don’t check what they’ve sent before that’s a problem. The one time there was an issue they refunded me in two days.

This has nothing to do with the current sale but I have confidence in this company generally. Far more than FFF!

Well I ordered two Mystery boxes previous round and I wasn’t totally unhappy, I was unhappy that they sent duplicates of some things.

I do have a subscription with them and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the curation. It is not my favorite monthly sub box and I prepaid a year for premium. I have about 8 mos to go and that is a long time to evaluate against the last 3 boxes, which I would give a solid 7 on a 10 point scale.

First I must say I was following this Bombay and Cedar for some time. Their sub boxes were on the expensive side so I was elated to see the mystery boxes were available at a reasonable price. So I figured let me give them a try.
WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS!!!!! I ordered one for a friend and 2 for me. My friend barely said anything about her box and then I RECEIVED JUST ONE FOR MYSELF. WHEN I CONTACTED THE COMPANY THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS IN ONE ORDER. AFTER SOME BACK AND FORTH. I HAD TO KEEP SENDING THEM PICTURES OF THE ORDER THAT WAS SENT TO ME ( THEY SAID THEY NEVER RECEIVED THE PICTURES) FINALLY THEY DID.
THEY OFFERED TO GIVE ME BACK HALF WHAT I PAID FOR THE ORDER. AGAIN AFTER SOME BACK AND FORTH ( I PRICED ALL THE ITEMS AT WALMART AND THE COST WAS BARELY $30) THE COMPANY AGREED TO PAY THE COST OF THE SHIPPING AND TO CREDIT ME THE PRICE OF THE 2 MYSTERY BOXES.
I OPENED A DISPUTE WITH THE COMPANY AND NOTIFIED BY MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY THAT THEY ARE NOT CREDITING MY CREDIT CARD.

THERE ARE MANY OTHER-SUB COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT ARE WONDERFUL. PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT ….. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THIS COMPANY STOLE $84.90 FROM ME. I RETURNED THE MERCHANDISE WHICH WAS FAR BELOW THE MSRP THEY PAID FOR THE RETURN OF THE MERCHANDISE ( I HAVE A COPY OF THE DROP OFF RECIPT)

STAY AWAY FROM THE MYSTERY BOX AND THE COMPANY IN GENERAL. SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR SOME OTHER GREAT SUBS.

THIS COMPANY IS DISINGENUOUS, NASTY AND STOLE MY $89.70. I DID NOT ASK FOR THE MONEY BACK FOR MY FRIENDS BOX.

JUST STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND THERE MYSELF BOX

Yikes! You had such a horrid experience. So sorry.

Mystery boxes are always Chauncey – but in the past, I’ve overall liked mine from different companies. However I really disliked my mystery box – so I’m sort of now disenchanted with ever subbing to them.

I am new to Bombay and Cedar, I subscribed in August. They have a rewards program, for people who subscribe and get money off past boxes. I really wanted July box, I was able to get it for$49.95 and free shipping and I’m very happy.

Whoops, my math for the LE Summer box was off. It’s a $20 discount. I had to find the original price in the MSA reviews (which was $129). It’s listed on sale for $109, so yep, make that $20 off.

These ‘sale’ numbers are wonky. The Limited Edition one is $10 off, if I’ve done the math right. Ok, that is a sale. But the July box ‘sale’ prices (there are premium and mini versions) are more than the usual monthly prices!!

Also, the error (what I assume is an error) that states it DOES sign you up for a sub if you order the sale box makes me very uneasy. This is a rather important sentence to get right!

I was excited until I seen the prices. Doesn’t look like much of a “sale” to me, unless I’m missing something?

Laura

I don’t understand how this is a sale. The boxes cost more that a subscription. Is there a coupon or something that I’m missing?

Janet

My question exactly.. It even says no sub required, but the fine print says it does sign you up for a sub. May be an error, but I’m not signing up or ordering one of these unless it is a real sale.

It’s a typo. But I agree, the prices are disappointing. I assume they reflect the fact that the company believes it’s doing you a favour by letting you buy a past box with full spoilers and no strings attached.

The only box I was interested in was sold out by the time I opened their email.
