December 2018 Boyxcharm Beauty Tutorial
This month’s theme of “Tis the Sea-Sun” definitely fits the holiday spirit. So far, almost every box this year has been pretty good and the December box is no different. In fact this month I think Boxycharm went above and beyond. So let’s jump right in and see exactly what we have in store.
Here are the contents of this month’s box:
- Tarte Glitter Lip Paint
- Bodyography Lip Liner
- Marajo Anti Frizz Smoothing Serum Capsules
- Wander Beauty Dusk To Dawn Blush & Highlight Palette
- PYT Mini Hair Straightener
Our first product is a very cute PYT Mini Hair Straightener. My pair came in a neon lime green color but they also have plenty of cool colors and designs to choose from. They are 100% ceramic with half-inch plates that are small in size, however, they are equivalent quality to their full-size straighteners. These are simply perfect for your on the go touch ups because they’re small enough to throw into your purse. They are great for short hair but can be used on any length. I didn’t have to wait long for them to heat up, reaching a 400-degree temperature.
I took a small piece of hair and put these babies to the test. It only took me two times in order to get my thick and coarse hair straight. I was actually surprised at the quality of such a small straightener. This one item alone pays for the box and above. The proof is defiantly in the pudding and this mini but powerful styling tool will most definitely be in my travel bag!
Our second item is also a hair product. The Marajo brand has many hair care products to help tame and restore hair. It doesn’t matter what type of hair you have, they have something for everyone. Their key ingredient of pracaxi nut oil is what does the trick. The Marajo Anti Frizz Smoothing Serum Capsules are a pearl colored soft capsule filled with nourishing Shea Butter and other goodies to help reverse damaged hair. When I applied the single-use capsule to my hair, I immediately noticed a shine and as I worked the product in. It did not take much for me to notice that my hair felt very soft and a lot less frizzy. I’m so glad I have plenty left to use for future use. Once again, Boxycharm surprises me with the unique yet practical items chosen every month.
Our next product comes from Wander Beauty. Boxycharm has sent us a few things from this brand in the past and so far I have yet to be disappointed. The Wander Beauty Dusk to Dawn Blush & Highlight Palette has three shades that all compliment each other. I decided to go with a very natural look and this product is perfect for adding that semi glowing finish. You can definitely use this palette for eyeshadow as well as a blush and highlighter, however today I will be using it to add a subtle yet gentle glow to my face. These three shades can bring any skin tone to life.
Before I used our blush & highlight palette, I filled in my brows very lightly, nothing too bold. Instead of a full coverage foundation, I opted for a more natural look with a light coverage BB cream. I added a small layer of black eyeliner to help open my eyes a bit and one coat of black mascara.
Here is how all three shades look all together.
Using a very light hand, I took a medium blush brush and used all three shades in our palette. I used the middle color Havana Nights (a satin dusky pink)for my blush. I used the shade Tuscan Sunrise (a satin neutral peach) for a very light contour, then our final shade City Lights (a shimmery champagne gold) to highlight the highs of my cheek bones, the tip of my nose and a very tiny amount under the arches of my brows. I love how well each shade blended into my skin, giving me a light natural look with a slight glow that I was going for. A simple look that’s perfect for everyday wear.
We also received a lip liner from the Bodyography brand. I received the shade Barely There and although it’s a beautiful shade, it doesn’t look like it’s going to work for me but let’s give it a try anyway.
Here is how the lip liner looks on my lips. I wanted to wear the lip liner in order to test it out and give you guys my thoughts. Although it makes my lips look a bit dreadful I did enjoy the fact that it didn’t take much effort to apply. I have used some lip liners where you really have to work hard just to get it to show up. This shade is a nude shade that can be worn under or on top of your lipstick. They also have seven other shades to choose from, all vegan with coconut oil and vitamin E.
Our last product is from the very popular Tarte Cosmetics. I absolutely love Tarte lip products, because they are always of high quality and will not dry your lips out like other lip paints tend to do. This is Tarte’s Glitter Lip Paint and can be worn alone or as a lip topper. I received the shade Flaming Hot and it’s a gorgeous iridescent purple that would compliment any makeup look. It’s a sheer lip gloss with infused glitter and shine.
Here is my look all complete, I love how comfortable it is to wear and smells almost good enough to eat! I decided to wear it alone for just a slight pop of color with this natural makeup look. I think it looks great and it feels so smooth on my lips! If this looks this good, I would just love to try their other shades.
Verdict: I simply love how Boxycharm mixes it up between makeup items, hair products, and other awesome unexpected products. It’s hands down my favorite beauty subscription box. I hope you enjoyed exploring this months box with me as much as I enjoyed reviewing it. I think December’s Boxycharm was unique and lots of fun.
