The 2018 Short Story Advent Calendar is available now!

Fourth time’s the charm.

After a restful spring, rowdy summer, and pretty reasonable fall, we are officially back at it again with another deluxe box set of 24 individually bound short stories to get you into the yuletide spirit.

The fourth annual Short Story Advent Calendar might be our most ambitious yet, with a range of stories hailing from eight different countries and three different originating languages (don’t worry, we got the English versions). This year’s edition features a special diecut lid and textured case. We also set a new personal best for material that has never before appeared in print.

The Box: The 2018 Short Story Advent Calendar

The Cost: $55 CAD = $42.48 USD

Contributors to the 2018 Short Story Advent Calendar include:

  • Kevin Barry (Beatlebone, City of Bohane)
  • Ben Greenman (What He’s Poised to Do, Don Quixotic)
  • Etgar Keret (Suddenly, a Knock on the Door)
  • R. O. Kwon (The Incendiaries)
  • Sara Levine (Treasure Island!!!)
  • and [REDACTED x 19]!

Shipping: Within Canada and the U.S.: $12 for one calendar, $20 for two, $25 for three, $30 for four, and $35 for five.

The Products: Twenty-four individually sealed stories.

Are you grabbing a short story calendar?

FYI they also have “Ghost Box” which is a collection of Halloween-type short stories (first one was last year and they have a new one this year). And it looks like they still have the 2017 advent and ghost collections available and you can a discount if you buy a bundle with this years. They are all listed in the “shop” section of their website.

What an interesting concept for an advent calendar. Love the idea behind it, and might actually get this as my first advent calendar of the season !

I love this calendar! I’ve gotten it for the last couple years – missed 2015 because I didn’t know about it yet – and it’s such a treat.

Were the stories good?

Everyone’s tastes are different, of course, but I was very disappointed in last year’s offering. They were mostly bleak and some weren’t even what I’d call a story. More a rambling essay.

This is such a great idea for an advent calendar!
