I hate hearing when company’s are going out of business, but I had no love for Ricky’s (horrendous Customer Service).

I’m sorry to see this happen, but I hope they are able to come back stronger. I have been enjoying Ricky’s box. I’ve only subbed for a few months or so, but in that time the entire store inventory has been sold out every time I try to look at something.

On Instagram Ricky’s NYC closed their stores.

Never got to try this sub. Was thinking of getting into it and just then the price increase happened. Decided to wait and see how it went… and never really liked the boxes after it. Now got really excited for September box collab with Alexandra Ryan curating it, and the spoiler that got me waiting anxiously for the 25th to pass… and now this. Y.Y Rickys you are killing me

Do we need to cancel our subscription then? Or does that happen automatically?

Jules

I haven’t gotten my August box yet. Has it shipped?

Marne Orenich

Hey Jules,
We received our August box on the 15th, so you should reach out to their customer service to see what’s up with yours. Not sure if there have been delays with some other subscribers.

Tribe did come back and are still in business now as well. Although I canceled after i got my August box as the value just wasn’t there and the products were repeats and similar to every other boxes. Just wasn’t for me. I wish Ricky’s good luck and I do hope that they do come back better than ever.

I am not trying to be rude at all, but I am not surprised… It seems like it is impossible for almost all of the sub boxes can please anyone these days… The idea of these boxes I thought was you get a great low price on a suprise curated box. Sometimes you like it some times you dont, thats the risk. It is just a lot cheaper than going to pay full price at the store which I cannot afford. Thats just mygot opinion but all the negativity avout my fav boxy charm scares me

Wish them the best and hope they have more success in the future. But there’s another box I pictured closing down *cough *cough Cosmo lol

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

Definitely Cosmo yes! That box is just such a mess. the price point is quite high for the products you get and the products are all over the place. No real theme or indentity for the box and they just are not at all competiative price or product wise.

Just curious, has any sub box come back after “taking a break” to figure things out?

Reply ButtonReply

Taren

Wantable came back as a clothing sub.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

To my knowledge, no. “Taking a break” or “going in a different direction” is ahem-speak for “we lost our pants on this venture”.

A real shame. I loved the edgy “differentness” they had before the price hike and the corresponding change from cool to bland.

Elena

Macy’s did.

Olivia

Wow. They never should have changed their boxes after the price increase. I wonder why they started having such horrible boxes?? Maybe couldn’t keep up with the demands? I’m sad I subscribed when the price changed because I never got the chance to get an amazing box. Oh well

They had great boxes only to attract people to their site. Their boxes before the palettes sucked & no one heard of them until they started giving away palettes.

I guess the palettes ran them dry, so they thought raising the price & devaluing the box would help them.

I can only imagine how tough it is to curate an affordable subscription box. I love how forthright they are about taking a step back and figuring out the box, or even it if should continue. I’m guessing raising the price of the box didn’t fix their issue. Looking forward to that highlighter… I LOVE the Becca liquid but can’t carry it on trips because of size. Hope this box has my runner up.

I knew this was coming. The question now is should I risk getting Sept box?

Sharon in SE TX

Are you feeling lucky? LOL.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

Not really lol. But I have FOMO so I know I will do it.

Jen

Not surprised at all.

I checked on their website looks like it is being shut down as well. All products are marked as sold out.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

It has been down for over a month that was huge clue they were going under.

I hope Ricky’s isn’t going out of business! I used to shop there for theatrical makeup when I was working in New York! It was like Sally beauty with with Ben Nye and all of the wigs. Their prices were better than Alcone and the other stand alone theatrical makeup supply shops too. Though come to think of it, that may be why they are in trouble.

I called it! I knew this was going to happen

Sheila

Is this another Luxe Pineapple situation? At least they are honest enough to let you make the choice to continue. I do really wish Ricky’s NYC cult crushes all the best.Thank you for the transparency.

Beccah

Oh just great! I repaid for that 6 month deal and only received July! No email from them about a refund for $65!

Sara

What happened to LuxePineapple??! I haven’t subbed to them for a while but I always loved their boxes. The owner was so nice and they had great customer service. Where did they go?

Reply ButtonReply

Lawden

Oh no! What happened to Luxe Pineapple? They used to have such great boxes and the owner seemed lovely! The sub I miss most that’s left us is Little Lace Box as well as their Serendipity box. Sub boxes are not as lucrative as people seem to think, they are so hard to maintain as well as keep the customers happy…

What happened to Luxe Pineapple? I noticed their website was gone last week.

Reply ButtonReply

Sheila

Yes totally MIA after offering such great deals for upcoming boxes. I feel so taken advantage of. It is one thing if you are shutting down and I truly feel for you,but to offer discounts for upcoming boxes and actual product that you aren’t going to send us is outright theft. Luxe Pineapple should be prosecuted for fraud.

Jody

Well so much for creativity.
