GMA Discover the Deals Mothers Day Box Review

Here is the double-sided info sheet that came with the box. There was no Margot Elena coupon code included, which is a bummer considering in the last box there was a coupon code that could save you money on their monthly subscription!

Lollia Dream Shea Butter Handcreme, Full-Size!

Lollia Dream Shea Butter Handcreme, Full-Size! Retail Value $25

I have heard people obsess over Margot Elena (the parent brand to Lollia), but I never understood the hype until I saw this stunningly packaged hand cream. I would be happy to have my wedding invitations in the same design as the packaging of this hand lotion— it is so elegant and tasteful, and I love the navy and cream colors with hints of gold. The 4 oz size is a pretty generous size as well, so this white tea and honeysuckle lotion packed with macadamia and avocado oils should be nourishing my hands for a long time to come.

Aid Through Trade The Original Roll-On Bracelet

Aid Through Trade The Original Roll-On Bracelet - Estimated Value $15

I couldn't find this exact color pattern on the Aid Through Trade website, however all of the single roll-on bracelets retail for $15 excluding the ones with fancier beads. This is a one-size-fits-all bracelet, and my big hands really put that to the test when I was rolling this over my wide knuckles. Once on my wrist, however, the bracelet fits perfectly without pinching or being tight, and I enjoyed that the bright coral and gold colors managed to perfectly match the shirt I was wearing that day.

Dr. Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $15.29 (buy the full-size version for $52)

This sleeping mask is supposed to help with redness and dryness, however, I didn't really see any results when I woke up the next morning. The gel consistency of the cream did absorb well into my skin, and this would be a good bet for those with sensitive skin.

June Jacobs Cranberry Pomegranate Moisture Masque, 0.5 oz

June Jacobs Cranberry Pomegranate Moisture Masque, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value  $7.50 (buy the full-size version for $60)

This masque is hydrating and refreshing, and the kaolin and cranberry extract in the ingredients list really helped to make my pores feel clean without my natural oils being stripped. The mask had a barely noticeable scent from the rose extract, and it was pleasant.

Visha Advanced Bright Eye Booster, 0.25 oz - Estimated Value $22.50 (buy the full-size version for $45)

This little guy is half the size of the full-size version, so that is a generous sample of an eye cream right off the bat. I liked the texture of this gel-cream eye cream, and while my dark circles are currently too tough for this eye cream to handle (I am still trying to recover from my two weeks of law school finals), this made the skin around my eyes feel soft and hydrated. A little goes a long way, so hopefully, I should be able to see results (if there are going to be any) by the end of this jar.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, 1 oz

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, 1 oz - Estimated Value $6 (buy a 2 oz version for $12)

This is a really thick and hydrating face cream. It is too heavy to use on my skin as a regular moisturizer thanks to my oily skin, but it makes a great spot treatment after I do an acne spot treatment that has sulfur in it. This can be anywhere you have dry skin, so you're not limited to just your face (I may try this out the next time I let my cuticles run ragged). Yay for multi-use products!

It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin, 2 oz - Retail Value $12.33

I am familiar with this leave-in spray from It’s a 10, as it consistently helps my hair stay shiny and tangle free. I only used this once, however, before my mom came to visit for Mothers Day. I think her eyes recognized this blue bottle as soon as she walked into my apartment, and she snatched this up immediately. My mom likes to use this as a spray before she goes to swim laps, as it helps protect her color-treated hair from damage thanks to the chlorine. To be honest, if you have hair on your head you will probably find some benefit from using this— it really is pretty great.

SpaLife Exfoliating Loofah Mitt with Natural Soap

SpaLife Exfoliating Loofah Mitt with Natural Soap - Retail Value $12

I consider this to be a more rustic version of a Spongelle, thanks to the exfoliating loofah fibers combined with the natural herbal soaps that are inside. This is a bit bulky to use, but it did foam nicely. I would be careful not pushing too hard while using this, though, because otherwise, you'll get an intense exfoliation.

Poo~Pourri Lavender Vanilla Toilet Spray, 2 oz

Poo~Pourri Lavender Vanilla Toilet Spray, 2 oz - Retail Value $9.95

I am a human, therefore I can benefit from products like this. I enjoyed the lavender vanilla spray, and I thought it did the job it was designed to do. It didn't my bathroom smelling like an unpleasant mix of lavender, vanilla, and other things like some sprays can, so I really appreciated that!

Strivectin SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate for Wrinkles and Stretch Marks, 0.35 oz - Estimated Value $13.83 (buy the 2 oz full-size version for $79)

Wrinkles aren't really a skincare concern I have right now, but I know Strivectin is top notch brand. This absorbed quickly into my skin and left it feeling soft, and it didn't irritate my skin either.

Rucker Roots Smoothing Sulfate-Free Shampoo, foil sample - Buy an 8 fl oz. bottle for $17.00

Rucker Roots Detangling Conditioner, foil sample - Buy an 8 fl oz. bottle for $17.00

I am going to be honest — it is a bummer to pay $37 for a box and pull out a foil sample. This shampoo was a little too strong for my hair, and it left me feeling like I needed a big dose of moisture the detangling conditioner didn't provide. I was able to comb through my curls with ease, so that is a plus.

The Original Makeup Eraser, sample - Buy the full-size for $20.00

This is literally a square sample of the fabric used to make the Makeup Eraser. It measures approximately 3.5 X 3.5 inches, and it is a little disappointing to something with unfinished, raw edges. I struggled to use this small cloth to take off a full face of makeup, so that is a bummer.

The Verdict: Objectively, this is a great box thanks to the Lollia hand cream, the bracelet, and the It’s A 10 products alone. That being said, some of these small samples really detracted from the overall appeal of the box. I am not even counting the makeup eraser or shampoo and conditioner in the total value, because I think its absurd to get single-use samples in a $37 box. That being said, I did calculate a value of $139.40, which is more than solid for the price you pay. I almost wish the shampoo/conditioner sample and the makeup eraser sample were left out of the box entirely— I feel like it wouldn’t have dampened the overall feel of the box if they weren't there, to begin with.

To Wrap Up

Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, it is now sold out.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $36.99 with free shipping, and I calculated a total value of $139.40. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Lollia: $6.63
  • Bracelet: $3.98
  • Dr. Brandt: $4.06
  • June Jacobs: $1.99
  • Visha: $5.97
  • First Aid Beauty: $1.59
  • It’s A 10: $3.29
  • SpaLife Loofah: $3.18
  • Poo~Pourri:  $2.64
  • Strivectin: $3.67

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Honestly, my jaw dropped when I saw the small sample of the Makeup Eraser. Come on! It’s textured polyester; they could spring for a full size. That just turns me off the brand. I’ll keep buying the 2-pack of similar washcloths from Walmart.

Much better than their last box!

Half the box is nice (I have dry skin, so the First Aid Beauty is my go-to moisturizer), the other half cheap feeling. It’s a shame too, with some careful editing this could have been a home run of a box.

I was happy to get my favorite lollia handcream- WISH which made up for this box. I love the Dr.Brandt overnight mask. But the need to stop sending those scraps of eraser! No reason they couldn’t put in a full one!
