We are getting something from Jcat. I’m new to cult crush so it may not be significant but they also posted a photo of the card with peonies so I am wondering if the theme will be May flowers or mother’s day related.

Ooooh thanks!!

Lily

I signed up last week as a new subscriber and on the account it’s still processing. Which is fine since it’s not May yet but now I’m wondering if I should keep / or cancel the subscription. I don’t know what’s inside May’s box and I placed the order with the price tag of $11. I did the payment by Paypal and I’m wondering if I will be charged the $11 or will they try to charge me the new price. I have to check Paypal I’m not sure if they charged me yet.

Um…6/1. Isn’t until j une, so you would still have another month before it goes up 3.00. I’m a new subscriber as well, and got charged through PayPal, and not sure if I get this month or what….i emailed them to see what’s going on. But I appericate they are opening this up for everyone whom wants to join and hopefully they find some fantastic made in usa pallettes and goodies. Lol. I can’t wait and even at 14.00 and excited.

Plus…..have you checked out their store online?!?! Oh my gosh, they have some amazing deals and prices on things.

L

There’s a lot of Ricky stores in NYC and it’s a hit or miss and I find their prices to be expensive.

Jessica

The email states that the new price will be implemented on June 1st. The price is still $11 for May.

I just hope with price increase they are able to fill all their orders and not have a repeat of April where they played eeeney meeny miny mo with the Pinky Rose palette!! If I am paying more I expect to get same products as everyone else or at least announce variation on your social media pages like Boxy did with colourpop palettes.
I am going to see what products come with the change but I probably won’t stay subscribed long.

Reply ButtonReply

Anita

I thought I saw online that anyone subscribed before February got the Pinky Rose palette & newer subscribers got the Chi Chi palette.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

Nope I saw people whose first box was April get Pinky Rose and people who got neutral Chi Chi in Feb get bright one this month. My first box was March but everyone should have got Pinky Rose this month regardless.

Jessica

I personally thought this box was a steal at $11, still a steal with the $3 increase. The value of what they send is absolutely worth it to me.
Then again, I like trying out new things and receiving the occasional nipple cover haha.

If you don’t find yourself liking anything that comes in the box, maybe this subscription isn’t for you. No box is one-size fits all per se.

I sell or swap the products I don’t want and I usually end up with over the value of the entire box in one item.

The market is flooded with competition and increasing numbers of people are using subscription services, especially beauty boxes.

They are a business and they need to make a profit. I’m going to guess that, with the increased demand, in order to keep customers happy and their shipments going out on time, they have to increase staff and material costs etc. I don’t find it unfair to see a slight price increase, considering the overall value.

Denise

Hi Jessica, I’m just curious as to where do you sell your items you don’t want?? Where are you trading for items you do want?? Thank you in advance for your time!! I have so much makeup I can’t use and I’d like to see it get a new home where someone will use the products before it’s to late and gets old!! Thanks again.

So I just subscribed and I’m a little disappointed in the price increase and the nonchalant attitude about increases in value. I hope they do increase the product value somewhat. Even if they already provide a great value, unless your purpose is to try new products only, it comes down to a value ratio given how many boxes are in the market. How much value do I get per $ of my subscription price. Ipsy and Sephora are around $3.50 to $5.00 per $1 of subscription price so around $35-$50 if you consider deluxe samples to be 1/3 in size or full sized drug store products. When you increase the total box price, you expect an increase in value ratio. This is especially true when you consider lots of costs are fixed within a certain volume level per unit like shipping per box. They should have more to spend on products. Boxycharm is around $5-7 per $1 of subscription price. Being in the middle of that price range, you would expect them to end up being $4.50-$6.00 per $1. At the low end (no change in value per $) I would expect the box value to be $49-$55 with a price increase. They are actually already hitting that with an average value of $56!!! An appropriate increase in value, in my opinion, should make the box worth $63-$84. They are not currently hitting this number and won’t without a change like more full sized or premium products. I am just going to have to stick it out for a couple of months to decide. No use abandoning ship without even trying it. On a side note, I hope they don’t pull an “April” on the new subscribers like me!

Wow!!!! This is an amazing break down!!! Someone needs to hire you to negotiate the goodies we get to test out. Hahaha. With that being said, I don’t mind 14.00 if they send out great items. I haven’t recieved my first box yet, but super excited. I love eyeshadow pallettes and would love any not made in China. Lol.

I’m also watching the new tribe beauty box to see if the value is there or not. It seems kinda exciting, but I’m not sure….wish you would break that one down per value to get an idea.

Cristina

Wow, you’ve really thought a lot about this!

J

It’s only $3 , breath

Margie Moore-Cooper

I’m with you! Come on…
They are growing. They need to expand. Expansion cost money. Give them a chance. I am still excited about this box!

This company just seems to be scammy to me. People who got the pinky rose probably don’t have a problem with the increase and think Cult Crushes is so great its only $3 increase value is there yada yada, I joined in Feb loved my March box for most part. Then April came around and on the very day my box was due I get email that I am not getting Pinky Rose I am getting Chi Chi. Which would have been fine because That palette in that very color was why I joined in first place but I signed up for Feb too late, But on all their social media pages they posted multiple posts on how Pinky Rose is the April palette no mention of Chi Chi at all so people signing up think everyone got that palette -scam. Not to mention everyone talks about how great it is rubbing salt into my wounds. Then they sent those of us who got Chi Chi a rude email saying we were lucky to get anything they also said they don’t have plans to send another palette any time soon. So I don’t trust them. How do I know that they are not going to pull this again?
I know some people don’t have luck with Ipsy but my profile gets me 2-3 full size every month. Cult Crushes said they are still only planning on sending 2-3 full size why would I pay extra? I probably will stay through June just to see what a $14 Cult Crushes box looks like but if value is not there or worse I don’t get what everyone else gets I will quit.

Feeling like they are not valuing their long time customers, most companies grandfather the price. Guess it is time to cancel if they can’t value me I will not give them my money.

Reply ButtonReply

Rashma

So price raised does that means better products will be in box???

Reply ButtonReply

Anita

I have been subscribed since December & I have been overall happy with the boxes. Didn’t need eye lashes 2 months in a row & the nails will go to waste since I don’t wear them.

The palettes have been more than making up for a crappy foil packet. I love the Pinky Rose palette more than the Chi Chi palette & certainly didn’t need 2 very similar colorful palettes in a row.

I’m going to give them through July (2 months of price increase) before I decide whether to cancel or not. An almost 30% price increase seems excessive to me if they aren’t going to up the number of full size items. I think current subscribers should be locked in to $11 for this year at least.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

I finally gave in and subscribed…..even though I didn’t really like the contents of the last box. But I figured for $11.00 I could try it for a few months and see what all the excitement was about. Well, it’s been a few weeks and no box nor any shipping info. And now the price is higher. I really cannot see myself keeping this box. At least when it was $11.00 I could justify some bad items, now they better WOW me. Not that $14.00 is extremely expensive, but I do get Boxy and ipsy also. THIS will go before either of those. 🙁

The waitlist signups were for the May box, the April box was sold out when they opened the opened waitlist for new subscriptions.

Reply ButtonReply

justmissjamey

I signed up as soon as the waitlist opened, and I signed up from PayPal, and it’s went through to my bank account, though PayPal says “pending” so not sure what’s going on. I emailed them to ask….im just thrilled to finally join in the fun!! I adore getting new pallettes and the ones I’ve seen in this box looks great.

Wendy

I have been following this sub due to the price, but have never been tempted. Lots of off brands and what looks like clearance items to me. Just my humble opinion. Now with the increase I’m not even curious anymore.

Reply ButtonReply

Dea

“Off brands”? You mean brands that do not overprice their mediocre products like Too Faced and Tarte?

Reply ButtonReply

Deb B.

Off brands = Made in China.

Beccah

I knew this was going to happen! I will definitely be canceling in June. With tax i already pay $12 so I would be paying $15. I only subbed because it was under $15. They definitely should be grandfathering all long standing customers. I think this will be a bad move in the long run!

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy Stegall

I am a current subscriber and have been for almost a year now. Opening up a waitlist for those waiting patiently to finally get and now raising the box price an additional $3.00 per month? I know all about business plans and even in my line of work you always want to keep your loyal customers who made the company what it is today….booming. As most of us have told others to join and theyve told thier friends and family to join, I’m sorry loyalty has to be there with Ricky’s too. I dont want to CXL but I will just to prove a point …this is not how you treat your current customers that made you who you are. There are many subscription boxes around the $13- $15 mark with high end “known” products. So in my opinion bad business move to upset the current loyal customers.

Reply ButtonReply

justmissjamey

What are the 13 to 15 dollar boxes/bags are out here that send higher end brand items?!?! Anybody know?!?! I’d LOVE to check some of them out.

I’m new to Ricks and excited because the YouTube unboxing I’ve seen and read on here look like a lot of fun (beside the Lee press on nails, who wears those things?!?! Lol)

My favorite thing are pallettes…eyeshadow, blush…and it would be great if they (and more companies) could get them not made in china…..france even, or some cool esty sellers look to have some neat new makeup and skin care….idk I’m just excited to try this out and have some fun.

I miss Nylon box so bad.

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

They charged me already for a box I have not received yet. Do they charge that far ahead for May box before they mail it?

I just signed on and purchased a few things and it has the sub box on the total but I did not get a box. I guess they charged me in advance…never had that happen before.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

On their website it says P.S An authorization charge of $11 will be put on your credit card. When we ship, we will then bill and collect $11.

Dea

I’m all right with it (I’m NOT all right with the recent shower of fake eyelashes and nails). The value is there, I like that they’re “edgy” and introduce me to brands I’ve never heard of, and they are transparent – they communicated this clearly, and gave people a month plus to make their decisions on whether to stay or go. I’m staying for now. Yes, if the variations start, then I’ll reconsider.

Reply ButtonReply

Linda Novak

Me too. I cancelled Lip Monthly a couple of months ago because after 18 months with them, I only kept about half a dozen lip products in colors I liked. Everything else sucked. It was $12.95, I kept seeing a the great Products I know I’d love in Ricky’s. But NO, damn waiting list. FINALLY, it opened up & I signed up. And they billed me right away too.
I’m hoping by increasing their pricing that they’ll be able to fulfill a of their supply and demand for their boxes thus not having box variations. I’ll give them a few months. If it become more miss than hit, maybe I’ll pull the plug. But I’ll have to give it an honest chance.

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

They billed me right away too. I am not sure I like that much.

Reply ButtonReply

Marie

Ugh, just signed up and then they increase the price.

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

So I hear, our business is doing so well that we have to raise our prices… LOL

Reply ButtonReply

Audra

How do you cancel this? Looking at reduction subs, not necessarily due to price.

Reply ButtonReply

Aarjullor

To cancel, just log into your account and go to my subscriptions on the left. There will be your current sub, and a view and edit, click on view. You can pause, or cancel.

Reply ButtonReply

Bella01

I just hope they don’t start variations. If that happens, I’m cancelling. I use to love Allure until variations. Now Boxycharm has variations and now yes, oh yas. I don’t care for variations because I get so disappointed if I was hoping for one thing and got another. Let’s hope to no variations. 👌🏼

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

They had variation this month they just did not announce it to all their subscribers. I got Chi Chi palette. They sent an email on day my box came telling me why I got that palette. But on their social media they just advertise sending Pinky Rose. I am hoping with increased price they get with the program.

Reply ButtonReply

LA

I don’t think the companies choose or want to have variations in all cases. I would imagine (because I handle events/sponsorship/donations of inkind+monetarty) that not all companies can commit to the quantity they need because their subscriber list keeps increasing….

Reply ButtonReply

LA

oops *monetary

Gracie

Most of their products arent cruelty free, vegan nor organic anyway. I’ll stick with So Susan.

Reply ButtonReply

Jeri

Wow, real smart of them.. get all these new subscribers and then increase the price lol at the end of the day it’s a business…but it would be nice if they would lock the price in for the people that have been subscribed for a long time. Either way I won’t cancel…yet lol

Reply ButtonReply

Missy

I agree! I was thinking of subscribing but bit now.
They 100% should have you all still only pay $10! That’s really not cool.

Reply ButtonReply

Jeri

Yup! They really should have old subscribers locked in at $11. There are subs that I’ve seen that if you were a member before any kind of change or price increase, you were not affected by the new price!! I really don’t blame you for not signing up now

LizC

I’m actually glad about the increase. I’ve been tempted and shouldn’t, so now I’m not tempted. No self control, but I do have a budget. Sorry for the rest of you though.

Reply ButtonReply

Missy

Same here! I REALLY wanted to try but even though it’s only $4…just put a bad taste in my mouth. So no go now!

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

It’s $3 increase.

Laura

I got a shipping notice from them on April 11, and it never moved. I emailed them twice in the past week to their CS and an aaller@rickysnyc they listed in an instagram post and nothing… I commented on an instagram post that I emailed them as well. No response. With a service like this, it seems that they have zero staff set up to handle it. Weird.
