Note from Liz: I’m so happy to introduce our newest reviewer to the MSA team! Welcome, Desiree!

BoxyCharm is a popular full-size beauty and makeup subscription box. (Check out our full review of the March 2018 Boxycharm box to learn more about each of the items this month.)

Today, I'll be showing you how I used some of the items in my March BoxyCharm box! I'd love if you shared what products and techniques worked for you in the comments as well! What items were your favorites? Which products have you been reaching for all month? Let's talk about all things March BoxyCharm.

But first, here are the box basics:

About BoxCharm

The Subscription Box: BoxyCharm

The Cost: $21 a month

The Products: 5-6 beauty items that will include nail care, skin care, makeup, haircare, fragrance and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized).

Ships to: The US and Canada

In March's box, I received the following:

Now, let's talk products and how I used them!

First I began with a bare face.

Then I applied the South Mane Beauty Under Eye Gels for 20 minutes under my eyes, making sure my eyes looked well rested and ready for my makeup look. Although I didn't see much change, the gel pads felt good and cooling under the eyes.

After adding my regular primer and foundation I could not wait to jump into my eye look. Once I opened the PUR Eyeshadow palette I was so excited to see the different array of colors from your neutrals to a few pops of color. The best part of the eyeshadow palette was how creamy and blendable the colors were.

Since today was a bright and sunny day I wanted to go for a more colorful look.

Although the brushes were numbered, I decided to use them according to their shape and size. Using the shorter brush first, I started with a transition color called “Nakey” and swiped that along my lid (steps 1 and 2). This brush is perfect for packing in that beautiful transition shade. Next, I used the angled brush to add a vibrant color to my crease (steps 3 and 4) using this beautiful pink fuschia shade called “BFF”. Then I used the more dense brush, gently placed the dark gorgeous color “Duet” into the outer corners of my eye (step 5). Finally using the step 1 brush again, I placed the beautiful color “Charmer” under my brow bone giving it a shimmer of color (step 6). I loved the way the way this eye look turned out! The Vintage Company Smokey Eye Brush Set trio was pretty easy to use and each brush was very soft and easy to hold. After my eye look was complete I moved on to lashes.

After using some black eyeliner, I took the Butter London Double Decker Mascara and used two coats to get a more dramatic look. I loved how the nylon fiber brush is shaped, making it easier to apply and add layer upon layer without clumping together.

Moving on, I must admit that I never wear blush, however, this Pretty Vulgar “Make Them Blush” Powder Blush surprised me. It didn't go on patchy and chalky like some of my past blush sets. I like how natural it looks with just a subtle pop of color. I must say this has me rethinking blush altogether. Can you see the hint of color it left?

Finally, I added a very subtle lip color and here is my face all done and ready to go, I loved the way everything came together!

I am addicted to subscription boxes for so many reasons. For one I simply love the element of surprise that each month brings, whether its beauty, skin care or anything else. I love the opportunity of trying out new products every month without having to commit to the full purchase. My favorite boxes are Boxycharm, Popsugar, and any Mommy and baby boxes. I am a brand new mother and I love trying out new things for my baby and I love how they always have something special for mommy!

I am really not enjoying ipsy at all. There is nothing high-end in their boxes anymore

Desiree, you definitely need to rethink blush, or at least that blush. It looks perfect on you! It gives you a sweetly blushed glow.

Thank you for the tutorial. I enjoy seeing how other subscribers utilize their goods. I agree with you about the mascara. I received the Double Decker too. I was skeptical when I first looked at the brush, but it has become my favorite mascara. AND it is the only one I’ve been able to wear with my contact lenses without getting black smudges under my eyes!

Welcome, and I look forward to seeing more from you.

Dezi

Thanks RouguesEn3D, you are right and I am rethinking blush, thanks so much for your encouragement! ( means so much to me)

You are gorgeous, but please don’t use glamour filters on your photos when doing tutorials like this. The point is so we can see how the products work, so it is more helpful to see unretouched photos. It is really hard to see anything that you are doing in these photos. I can’t even tell if you are wearing mascara at all, let alone how well this brand works.

Reply ButtonReply

Dezi

Thanks for the advice, I honestly didn’t use a filter but I agree my camera is not the best and I’m working on that very issue.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I agree 100%

Reply ButtonReply

Missy

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing! Definitely hard. To see in those pictures it looks like. Filters to me and there blurry but she is beautiful and I loved the step by step because I’m. Horrible at eyeshadow!

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

I don’t think it’s a filter, I’m pretty sure it’s just the lighting. Natural light can definitely cause diffusion like that.

Ash_Kay

As others have iterated, welcome Desiree Queen! Thank you for the review and tutorial.

Reply ButtonReply

Margi

Awesome review. Loved the results! Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Mayra

This is a random question but has anyone placed a charm shop order and hasn’t received any shipping notification? I placed an order and I haven’t heard anything from them.

Reply ButtonReply

Ash_Kay

I just placed an order late last night, so for me I think it’s still too early for me to get a shipping notice. How long ago was your order placed?

Kele

Welcome, Desiree! Thank you for the wonderfully detailed tutorial and pics. I was going to try to swap or sell my palette because I wasn’t sure about the colors but after watching your tutorial, I think I’m going to keep it and experiment! Thank you for opening my possibilities! 😊

Reply ButtonReply

Dezi

Thanks Kele, I feel the same way when I see certain colors that intimidate me, but after I jump in I’m always glad I did lol

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Great tutorial. 🙂 I really liked the pics! I only wear mascara for eye makeup, because I’m completely incapable of applying any other kind of eye makeup, but your pics make it look so easy that I even started to question my own inabilities. ha! Welcome to MSA!!! 😀

Reply ButtonReply

Dezi

Luna, don’t be scared to give it a try, you may be surprised at the outcome.
