Anyone with a Macy’s coupon might be interested in knowing their Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette is on sale for $16 today! Wish I had a Macy’s box coupon!

Got my bag today LOVE it !!

I just got my box today – in the snow ! although i should have gotten it 4 days ago…anywho. this is my first box and i must say these are the tiniest samples i have ever seen ! ! The SK-II sample in the box is not enough to see if it will yield any benefit to my skin. This is not worth $15 a month, maybe 10 but not $15. At least Allure gives me deluxe and full size products. The $10 coupon is nice and so is the bag, which is why I will keep this one more month before I cancel. Very disappointing.

JuJu

These ARE deluxe samples! I am not sure why everyone is complaining about the sizes – these are exactly the sizes all these companies give in their gift with purchase promotions, as well as sell in their sampler sets. I expected to see exactly what I got in terms of Clarins, Lancome and Estee Lauder. And with the MAC I knew exactly what it would be because I got this same item in an Ulta GWP recently.

If these are deluxe sizes then I would need a magnifer to see what sample sizes look like. I have gotten deluxe sizes in my Allure box (also $15) and they were bigger than what’s in this Macy’s box. Of course, my observation is just based on this box since it is my first.

JuJu

Oh, wow, the coupon this month is $10! That means $20 of savings for me. 😎 Doing a happy dance. 💃

viola

yes , these are a little smaller, but the quality is there! and a $10 dollar coupon instead of $5! Yes! and i will use it! the sk alone will last me two weeks with once a day use and the genifique sample lasts just as long as that with 2 times a day use, and the other products i have never received in a bag in two years of subscribing to boxes!

I have tried all of these products already – this is the first Macy’s Beauty Box I have been outright disappointed in. Just seems like a bunch of products that were hyped up a few months ago thrown in to this box to me … and I haven’t even received mine yet! Upsetting to me because it is my birthday month and I was SO EXCITED for this box (I have cancelled all of my other beauty subscriptions because they all ended up repeating the same samples … I will give Macy’s another try but if this happens again, it’s just too much to spend for me – I can use that nearly $200/yr much more wisely!) – at any rate, Macy’s was doing really well with these boxes but I’m less and less thrilled as time goes on here….

JuJu

I haven’t received my box yet, but I am curious to see the tiny sizes everyone is talking about.

I, too, am disappointed in this box, but for me it’s because it’s almost exclusively skincare.

I also like the Macy’s coupons, but they make me spend much more than I otherwise would have (I use each coupon twice), so I am thinking next month, which is my birthday month, and which I hope will be an all-makeup box, will be my last with this subscription.

Christine

Just got my bag. The samples are so TINY! Very disappointed. How can you tell if you like something, if you don’t get a big enough product to sample? 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

akabela

agree. this was also my concern, this is my first box and this price does not justify this box. i get full size and deluxe sizes with Allure.

Reply ButtonReply

Val

I just got my box. Too bad it was empty! Literally, there was no bag in it. It just had the little booklet that describes the items. Called Macy’s and said they can’t send me a bag and will refund my money. I’m really bummed I didn’t get this months bag. I liked the products. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Margo

I didn’t receive even the box. It made it to the post office downtown, from there it should have been shipped to the post office that serves my community but poof it’s gone. And Macy’s policy is not to send a replacement but to credit my card. I feel like there’s a postal worker with sticky fingers and no morals using my samples 😡

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

That’s so disappointing!

JuJu

Aside from the SK-II, I don’t actually need any of the products in this month’s bag. Let me know if you’d be interested in the rest of the contents.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Actually, I changed my mind – I’d be willing to part with the whole box (minus the coupon) if anyone is interested.

justmissjamey

I clicked in the sk-ii link and it says ONLY 290.00 for a bottle….haha yeah, only lol

Reply ButtonReply

Lola

Almost cancelled but after these apoilers, so glad I didn’t. Last month was makeup heavy and this month skin care heavy. I’m fine with that.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole B

Darn it! This is an amazing bag, I was about to sign up just for this bag, but my first bag would be April’s bag. I want this one so badly! =‘(

Reply ButtonReply

Jess M

This bag looks amazing!! Probably one of the top 2 or 3 Macy’s has done since they started this sub. I could do without the strobe cream, it’s OK, but everything else is so good. I’m excited for March!

Reply ButtonReply

justmissjamey

Looks good. Now I’m hoping next month, they do an all makeup bag then.

Reply ButtonReply

Mira

Does anyone know if I subscribe today will I get March or April box ?

Reply ButtonReply

annika

I subbed on the 2nd and they said my first box will be April – however, they charged my account yesterday and shipped my box today 3/4 so does that mean I will be getting the March box after all?

Reply ButtonReply

Mikenzel

Did you receive your March box yet? Just curious as I subscribed March 1 and said it will be shipped March 12. So hoping to receive the March box

Liz Cadman

Your first box would be the April box. Hope that helps!

I love skincare so I usually like the Macy’s box and I’m really excited about this one. I already have the ski Essence I bought a sample bottle of on eBay for like $13 when it is $99 at Sephora so that’s always a place to go because people getting these boxes sell them for cheap on eBay also and that’s how I try a lot of things and travel-size that I can’t afford in a store like Sephora. I am excited about this box because I wear mineral makeup but put a lot more time into skincare than I do makeup so good skin care is important to me and everyone can use good skin care where as everyone can’t use the same makeup. Does anybody know of other boxes that are heavy on skincare versus makeup? I am getting dermstore box and like it and Macy and I’m getting Sephora I did have Ipsy and Allure but I dropped those 2 because it was too much tacky makeup.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle Bross

I totally agree. I’d rather have skincare then a new lippie anyday! I do a ten step Korean skincare routine every night but I’m always looking for new products. I do sell on eBay all my unwanted items. Also I buy the items I didn’t get but wanted. I’m so excited for this box!!! I’m out of the Skii essence and I refuse to pay that much for one. I’m going to try and purchase a few backups of it off eBay. I don’t understand why people aren’t more pumped to take care of their skin?

annika

i agree ! i’m psyced about SK-II. I am all about k-beauty skin care.

Sisley

Reply ButtonReply

TK

If you like skincare, you should try Sisley Paris. It’s $10/mo and it’s pretty much all skincare. Only one brand though.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Pretty much all of the k-beauty and most of the natural beauty boxes are predominantly, if not all, skincare.

Reply ButtonReply

justmissjamey

I’m always leery about buying from there. I’ve bought a few face creams that were fake.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle Bross

I’m a seller and a buyer on eBay. I’ve bought some fake stuff on there when I first started out. Now I only buy travel sized or used products. Everything I sell either came from one of my ten boxes a month or from Sephora. If I do sell a full size I offer to show my receipts!!

JuJu

Beauty Fix and New Beauty Test Tube are usually almost exclusively skincare.

The samples are tiny. Use the perfume as a guide to the size of the other samples. Plus the Clarins is only half full, you can visibly see that in the picture. The Lancôme sample is very small, I got that same sample a few years ago in a Christmas gift of Lancôme. I loved the product, but it’s really tiny. The strobe cream is ok, I’ve gotten it before from shopping the Mac website, they send free samples with each purchase. It’s a small sample, but you use so little of it that it last a long time. I almost regret cancelling this sub, but not quite.

Reply ButtonReply

Jess M

I’ve had that same Lancome sample and it it may look small but it lasted almost a month with once-a-day use. Serums and eye creams go a long way since you need so little with each application.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

These are all standard deluxe samples, I don’t know why people are complaining. We’ve all seen those Estee Lauder, Clarins and Lancome jars / bottles in their gifts with purchase, these aren’t any smaller than that.

Nan

I just don’t like the bag itself.

Reply ButtonReply

Val

I agree. I like everything except the bag itself.

Reply ButtonReply

annika

SK-II !

Reply ButtonReply

Dianne

You state that the theme this month is
Eat sleep grow

That is not the case. It is
Eat sleep GLOW

The glow is due to all the skin care.

Reply ButtonReply

MissBailey

I”m surprised they are re-promoting Good Girl already. It was in their first bag back in August. For me, this is an OK bag.

Reply ButtonReply

annika

Whoa! this is a good box…I will be taking a closer look at Macy’s

Reply ButtonReply

JoannaNYC

Wow! That is the best bag I’ve seen in a while in this price range! I sub to Birchbox, Ipsy and Allure.
So bummed I won’t be getting this one. I subbed on Feb 18 and it stated first bag I get will be April.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Now, that is a great bag!

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

I have subscribed since the very beginning and I know they started out slow but it seems each month they’re getting better and better I personally am very happy to see a lot of skin care products !! And the make up bags that they send are super cute

Reply ButtonReply

annika

i am signing up today !

Reply ButtonReply

Whyn

Me too, I almost cancelled to save money, so glad I didn’t.

Reply ButtonReply

Kathie

I agree

Glamorous Grandma

SK-II Facial Treatment is $290 for 11oz?!? That’s insane!

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

People (mistakenly) believe that if something is expensive, it must be better. These brands subsist entirely on the psychology that they need to set steep prices to be perceived as purveyors of superior skincare.

Whereas in reality 99 times out of 100 you’d be better off with something like The Ordinary.

Reply ButtonReply

Lola

I also agree that its true and false at the same time. I was using a Balance Me moisturizer and it was okay. I then opened an Elemis moisturizer and the difference was amazing. My understanding is that the top tier of cosmetics use the highest quality ingredients like Lancome. Loreal on the otherhand, while made by same company, uses good ingredients but not the best.

For example, I used the Visionnaire one minute blur and love it. I was low in funds one month and bought what was a comparable product by Loreal. The Lancome stayed smooth and silky but the L’Oréal became gritty and harder to spread on. IT also didn’t give the same effect. So that was disappointing so I returned it, the L’Oréal one.

TK

This is both true and false. Expensive products put a lot of money into their packaging and advertising so we have to pay for that. But they also put money into research and good ingredients. It’s kind of like brand vs generic medications. The main/active ingredient is the same but the delivery system and fillers are different. Unfortunately, if the delivery system(how well it absorbs/activates) is subpar, you aren’t going to benefit from the main ingredient(retinol, vitamin C, etc.)

Rie

It’s a racket, although most skincare products are, and I’ve worked in the business to know. People waste so much money on the hype, and the skincare products above are waaaay overpriced hype.

I have a prescription for retin-a micro, use a good facial sunscreen, and good moisturizers, and that’s the best anti-aging routine I could do. It’s less than $200 a year. (I use First Aid Beauty Repair cream and pure facial oils at night, Lancôme day cream w/spf under makeup, and Cetaphil cleanser from CVS.)

Also, I don’t smoke. It ages the skin terribly.

I believe you are probably right. It is fun to try new beauty treatments, for me anyway. But honestly, I think it’s likely a person can do just as well with a moderate to low priced regimen like you describe. What you say makes sense!
