This  Allure Beauty Box vs Macy’s Beauty Box vs Look Fantastic series compares the subscriptions every month to give you a good idea what you can expect from these popular beauty subscription boxes.

Allure Beauty Box and Macy’s Beauty Box are $15 a month, Look Fantastic is $16 if you pick an annual subscription (you don’t have to pay the full cost up front), so it seems fair to stack them up against each other).

If you are interested in finding other great beauty boxes, check out our Birchbox vs Ipsy vs Sephora Play series and our Boxycharm vs Glossybox vs BeautyFix series!

FYI – Each of these boxes sends the same items to all subscribers with occasional variants. (For example, there may be three different shades of a nail polish a subscriber might receive, but all subscribers will receive that nail polish.)

Favorite item in the box: Cle Cosmetics Highlighter Cushion in Glinting Buff

This is officially my favorite highlighter of all time! If you want a look that gives you a natural, dewy, luminous highlight – I think this will be your favorite new highlighter, too. (Plus the application is pretty much foolproof. No makeup skills needed!)

Macy’s Beauty Box February 2018 (Check out the full Macy’s Beauty Box review)

  • Number of items: 6 + a bag
  • Full-size items: 1
  • Deluxe size items: 0
  • Brands featured: tarte, Tony Moly, IT Cosmetics, Dior, Philosophy, Coach
  • Categories featured: Makeup (2) Skincare (3) Fragrance (1)
  • Total Value: $41.03

Favorite item in the box: IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser

This is the second skincare item from IT Cosmetics I’ve sampled, and I am loving this line! This cleanser turns into a light foam, was super gentle on my skin, removed all makeup, and didn’t dry out my skin either. Plus it has a very light (and fab) citrus scent!

Look Fantastic February 2018 (Check out the full Look Fantastic review)

  • Number of items: 6 + magazine
  • Full-size items: 2
  • Deluxe size items: 2
  • Brands featured: Elemis, Dr. PawPaw, Bellapierre, Filorga, Trifle Cosmetics, Caudalie
  • Categories featured: Makeup (1) Skincare (5)
  • Total Value: $104.96

Favorite item in the box: ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream

This is one of my favorite items in the box. It’s a luxe skincare brand, the sample is a good size (the full-size version is 50 ml), and I actually prefer the tube container of the sample over the jar container of the full-size version.

The formula is rich but not greasy, and super hydrating. If I could change anything, I’d remove the fragrance, but it doesn’t bother me and fades quickly.

Verdict: All boxes were solid, but I’m going to give the win to Allure Beauty Box – I loved every single item in that box, and I’m obsessed with the CLE highlighter!

Of course, my favorite box varies every month, so here are my general suggestions for which box to pick:

Allure Beauty Box: Allure is great for a mix of makeup, skincare, and the occasional haircare item. They also are good about sending some full-size or deluxe-size items each month, and they include a variety of brands. (Pretty much anything featured in Allure magazine is game.)

Macy’s Beauty Box: This is a brand new subscription, so we’ll have to see if things change in future months. For now, this seems to be a good box for a beauty subscription newbie. Everything included in this first box is a great beauty staple.

Look Fantastic: If you’re looking to try out brands you might not see at Sephora, this is a great box to sample. (It’s from the UK.) And the UK version of Elle magazine is a nice bonus, too!

  1. It says “What was your favorite box for December? “ at the end.

  2. Ipsy has the Cle Highlighter as it’s offer today for $12

  3. I loved Allure this month. I use everything! The highlighter is great but the product I am most likely to repurchase is the Youth to the People moisturizer. I’m sad it was so small but I’m glad I got to try it at all because I loooovvvveee it. Nice discovery for me!

  4. Well I hope to enjoy my first subscription box for LF when it gets here, anyone else have delivery issues with them? They said I have to wait 30 days from UK to US orders 🙁

  5. Allure most definitely because I found a new highlighter I love. Today after I showered and prepped my skin I applied the high lighter to my face and applied some gloss and was ready for a relaxing day. I love the Cle highlighter because it’s light and smooth. I just ordered Look Fantastic a couple days ago so I will see what I think. I just have to many subscriptions right now. But I find great things in the boxes I receive. I use to sub to Macy’s too but their products are to boring for me.

  6. The CLE highlighter is seriously amazing!!

  7. Each of these boxes looks great. I had allure in the past when they had the $10 deal but I haven’t tried the others. Gonna watch these .

  8. I loved the items Allure sent, it was just a pain to get. I didn’t get my box until March 2nd, and that was after emailing them three times and being lied to about the box being shipped out. They finally sent tracking info that had said the label was created a week after they first said the box was shipped. I didn’t appreciate the deception.

  9. Allure has really stepped up their game. I have used everything in the last few boxes and I’m impressed with the full size products recently.
