FYI – The last day to subscribe to the Boxwalla February 2018 Book Box has been extended to February 3rd (or until they sell out).

Plus, we now have FULL spoilers for the February 2018 Boxwalla Book box!

Each February Boxwalla Book box includes:

Each February Book Box will contain a lovely little gift edition of French Love Poems.

From 16th Century sonnets to the love-drunk poetry of the Surrealists, this  volume showcases some of the most passionate verses in the French language. It's bilingual so you have English on one side and French on the other. It contains poetry by Charles Baudelaire, Arthur Rimbaud (translated by Ezra Pound!), Rene Char and more.

Here's a piece by Paul Eluard and translated by one of our favorite American poets Willam Carlos Williams. It is titled Curfew:

So what the door was guarded

So what we were imprisoned there

So what the street was barred off

So what the town was under attack

So what she was famished

So what we were without arms

So what night had fallen

So what we made love

In case you missed the previous spoilers:

The second book that we have chosen for the February Book Box is German writer Jenny Erpenbeck's 'Go, Went, Gone'. This wonderful book was published towards the end of last year and is already an early contender for the best book of this year!

Erpenbeck's writes with an almost Coetze-like restraint. But the collection of spare sentences form a prism of nuanced, complex thought, refracting philosophies, ideas, and ultimately a search to understand people who differ, on the surface, from you..

This February we travel to the South of India, to the coastal state of Kerala with the novel : 'Legends of Khasak' written by the great Malayalam writer O.V. Vijayan.

This novel is set in a rural fictional village called Khasak, a place where the air is thick with dragonflies, myth and magic and stories lurk in every corner, on every tongue. A novel that compels you to read and read and read. And fills you up with beauty, with wonder and, well, with a bit of sadness.
