I just got my second cold weather goodie box. I’m a size 16 and a 32/33 inseam in jeans. I was sent 15 items in each box. I had picked the lowest price point and all items were below $23 with most under $15.

I kept one item from the first box and two from the second. Most items fit but I’ve been trying to only buy things I love love so that’s why I was picky.

For the most part both box packers picked items that matched my notes of what I wanted. I have discovered some brands I wouldn’t have ordered online before and now love. I’m about to order a third box. 🙂

I’ve done both Stitch Fix and Wantables but finally cancelled both because they sent me such hideous clothing most of the time. I did keep several things but most was simply too expensive for what it was. I just signed up to give ThredUp a try. I did place an actual order too. Most of what I ordered was all new with tags in labels I wear all the time so I know will fit. I have high hopes for this service. I’m very excited about getting my first box.

I just received one of these, and actually had pretty good luck. I got a night out box. It had three pairs of jeans, several tops, and four or five dresses. Some of the dresses were dressier for the holidays. I made a note that I am short, and two of the three pairs of jeans that they sent actually had an appropriate inseam! Also, they sent several petite-sized items. I was pleasantly surprised. I did have some fit issues, mainly with the dresses, due to variations among brands. About a third of the items that I received were new with tags. I got a brand new pair of J.Crew jeans that fit perfectly for $29. I did receive one top which I felt was seriously overpriced. It was $44 for a used silk top. I may have paid that for a quality brand new top, but not a used top! In all, I think I kept five items which were fairly priced and in new or excellent condition. I got all quality name brands and it was super easy. For me, it was a shopping win!

So, I was selected as a test, but never received a box even after asking about it twice, I assume it was because they do not have much stock of true plus size clothing. From the sound of it, I was lucky nothing came, as I also could not afford a $300.00 sweater. I wanted a dressy box for the Holidays.

I like some of the things about this company, I like that it is recycling. Goody boxes may not be what Threadup ought to try.

I bought a goodie box in the winter clothes theme. 15 items. All in like new or NWT. I picked the lowest price range which was under $25/20 I think. All my items were under $24 about half were $10-13.

I am a solid size 16 and stated so in my notes. The stylist picked things using my notes. I ended up keeping a gap nwt current season sweater that was priced at $20.99. So after $20 styling fee just an additional $.99. Free return shipping.

I would have kept more if I hadn’t blown my Christmas shopping money already. Lol

This is NOT a sub. You order goodie boxes as you want them. That was really freeing for me. One less thing to run and cancel if I didn’t love it. It’s stated in their faq’s page. I wasn’t sure so I went digging for it.

I just ordered another goodie box with more detailed notes since I got some Christmas $$ as a gift. Very pleased.

Okay, my previous comment disappeared, so here goes again. Please forgive me if this shows up twice.

I got to test a Goody Box last month, and was pretty excited because most of the other clothing boxes, like Stitch Fix, are really out of my budget. I thought that used/thrift clothing would be less expensive, especially since we can choose a price range.

Well, I chose the lowest price range possible, and one of the items in my box was a New With Tags sweater from Uniqlo, with a retail price tag of $1000, and a ThredUp price of $300! I felt like they threw that in there in hopes that I wouldn’t return in time, and they could get that ridiculously overpriced sweater out of their inventory. Most of the rest of the items in the box were in the $40 and up range, so still out of my budget, even if they were a good value for the brand. As an example, there was a pair of SevenForAllMankind jeans in great condition marked $39, but I am not going to pay that much for used jeans, I don’t care what the brand is. I don’t pay $39 for NEW jeans, and really thought ThredUp was going to be more affordable. I ended up keeping a single sweater so that my $20 styling fee wouldn’t be wasted, but I definitely won’t be doing goody boxes again.

I’ve bought other items from ThredUp that I chose myself, and I’ve been happy, so I will continue being a customer. Just not for these boxes.

Ladies make sure you check your invoice when you get these boxes! I got to test last month, and one of the items was a New With Tags Uniqlo sweater with a retail tag of $1000, and a ThredUp price of over $300. If it hadn’t gotten it returned in time, I would have been charged three hundred bucks. I wanted to try ThredUp boxes because most of the clothing boxes like Stitch Fix contain items that are out of my budget. I thought with used/thrift clothing the prices would be less, but my box was full of items that were still in that $40 and up range. Even though they were good deals, like $39 for SevenForAllMankind jeans, I can’t afford $39 jeans no matter what the brand is. I ended up keeping a single sweater that was about $20, just so that my $20 fee wouldn’t go to waste.

I would love to see the office styles reviewed. I am starting a business program next month and we are expected to dress like we would in the workforce three times a week. I don’t have much of what would be considered office wear and I live in a very rural area now where Goodwill is hours away. This would be such an inexpensive and convenient way to beef up my office wardrobe.

I got to test these last month! Tried the sweater weather and night out boxes ans it was an amazing value. They definatly took the brands I liked into account and gave me alot of pieces to try. I asked for a range of price points and was given everything from a $14 scarf to a $125 dress. The only critique I would say is I wish they asked for chest measurements. With all the different brands they offer, sizes do vary alot depending upon the style and it stinks when there is something you love but it’s too small and you know they don’t have it in another size.

Really bummed that they don’t have a plus-size option

Fun! I just bought a “Fancy Finds” box. Figured it’s worth the $20 to try it out.

Tonya,
Did you receive your box yet? I just ordered the “Fancy Finds.”

Not available for plus sizes 🙁 even though they sell plus sizes. Would be interested in seeing a review and their prices of their pieces and how the return process works. I ordered once and one item was in the plus size category that was a straight size, no way in the world it would’ve fit me. I wanted to return it; but it would’ve costed me like $9 to return it, which is more than what I paid for it. It wasn’t worth it.

Alex

That’s really disappointing. I’m plus size and would love this option.

They have 14/16/18 right now for the goody box but nothing above that.

Michelle

I’d really like to see this reviewed! I wonder what the price range is for the “fancy finds” box?
