I got my box last night… the Lancome CILs was missing from the box… that was the item I wanted the most. I spoke to someone on online chat and he said there was no way to send me the product and that the boxes are sold out… so he refunded the full amount of my box… which was nice, but I really just wanted the product

I cancelled last month but missed the deadline, so this will be my last box. I just got it in the mail yesterday and I am surprised that the coupon card in this month’s box is for $10, not the usual $5. Given that you can use it twice (once online and once in store) it helps make up for the lack of value in the box. And in my opinion this is by far the best box yet. If they had all been like this, I would not have cancelled!

Wait, so you can use the coupon twice (in store/online)? Has anyone tried this? I am just asking since Macy’s is so stingy with their coupon policy.

I tried it after a tip from another user last month, and can confirm it works because their website uses an alphanumeric code (on the front of the card) and the store uses the barcode on the back of the card. So as long as you use the online code first, or at least write it down (because the store will not give you the card back after you use it) you can use it twice.
I can also report that this $10 coupon is a total crock this month. I tried to use it on a $10 item and after spending 30 minutes in an online chat and then over an hour on the phone with customer support trying to figure out why it wouldn’t work, they told me it is only valid for $10 off a $30 minimum purchase (even though the website fine print specifies it is for $10 off a $10 purchase.) The $5 cards can be used on a purchase of $5 or more, but to use the $10 one they say you have to spend $30, regardless of what the fine print actually states. I’m so ticked off. Really glad I cancelled Macy’s now and this was my last box!
JuJu
You can. Online you have to enter the promo code from the front of the card, but in store they would scan the bar code on the back.

for this price I understand why it doesn’t come with the case for the blotterazi but I’m not sure what you’re supposed to do with it in in your purse without it.

It has the cardboard cover. Is there another case?

I got the blotterazzi before in I think the Beautycon box, and it didn’t come with a case either. Didn’t know it was supposed to have one.

Wow $15!! No way I’m spending that when I have gotten the same products in my $10 bags. Screw that!
Reply
Shannon
Evelyn – but you get a coupon for $5 (this month $10) so it’s really not $15.

Carolyn
It still shows me as on the waiting list so I don’t think that’s over.

This box won’t work for me at all. I can’t abide tuberose and that is prominent in this perfume. The dark-nude lipstick will look awful on me. The mascara and MAC primer are fine but I’ve received both multiple times. I don’t have any oiliness, don’t need a blotter. So the only appealing thing in this whole bag is the lash primer.
I am surprised by how many products in the Macy’s boxes are old standbys, I would have expected more cutting-edge from them.
I do like the plain, not-cutesy bag! – though between Sephora and Macy’s I already have a drawerful of cosmetics bags and need to donate most of them…

So it looks like a better box than the $10 Birchbox or Sephora, but when you think it’s just $6 less than Boxy Charm, it seems too expensive.
I’ve been doing Boxy Charm for my 15-yo for three months now and she loves it!

A boring box this month. I’ve gotten everything bute blot pro before.

I love macy’s Beauty monthly bags aka boxes. I hope they keep this going for a very long time. I refuse use to cancel

This is my last box – so a free space for one of you waiting when my cancellation kicks in.
I got bestie in the last BoxyCharm, and its not a real good colour on me. Its an okay box, but I opted to spend this on a second BoxyCharm sub.

This month looks real nice. I’m excited! So far 2 of 3 bags have been real nice quality. I’m hoping this one is to. I love the color of it.

I like this bag. I’d much rather get a solid color than one with “cartoon” on it.
I also like that their shipping is free on cosmetics, so I sometimes order a small item with the $5 coupon.

Same here!! Yay free stuff with coupon I purchased two Burt’s bees lip balms with my coupon for free!!!

Does anyone ever wonder if places like Macys and Sephora get these samples for free and are now selling them?
This box is good but man, i hate to spend $15 on samples. Maybe if there were twice as many.

JuJu
Well, what do we pay $15 for in the Allure box?
Reply
Maryminty
Most likely, they get for free as advertising for the companies. The samples are so minuscule, not much of a financial loss considering it’s mostly wasteful packaging.

I’m excited about November’s bag! Everything in it is something I’d like to try. I’m really curious to try the Blotterazzi thing. I love getting beauty blenders in beauty boxes because I can’t bring myself to spend $20+ on them

Emma
That blotterazzi did not work for me. In fact, I think it made my skin worse since after I used it for the first time, I ended up with the biggest, deepest blemish of my entire life. I will stick to blotting papers.

Does anybody know if you can stack these coupons in stores?

I would so drop Sephora Play for Macy’s if this was $10.

It is $10 with the coupon. It works on everything! 🙂

I’ve received four of the six products in other subs. Macy’s had a chance to enter the monthly sub market before Sephora did. They blew it. It’s way too late to enter now. With Birchbox, ipsy, Sephora, and Allure, Macy’s can’t be expected to grab a relevant market share. If they go a different route, maybe more along the lines of what So Choix had done (sampling only upscale makeup and letting you choose), they might have a chance.

I agree with you! This box is way overpriced. I think they created a ‘waitlist’ to give the illusion that there is a demand for this subscription. A more reasonable market price for this sub is $10 when you compare it to the other ones out there. Especially with the buying power that a retail store like Macy’s has. If they want to charge $15 then they should give some full-sized products and more samples of high-end products.

Teresa
Yes, it seems more like the extra $5 goes towards the “free” $5 coupon code. A $10 box with a $5.00 up charge and a “free” $5 coupon.
JuJu
Well, their box is obviously popular enough if they now have a waitlist.

I cancelled Oct 9th, since their deadline is the 10th. (Which I missed in Sept) October was my last month and I’m happy with that. Only one item I would have liked from this. If they ever drop the cost to $10 I’ll resubscribe. I never use the $5 coupon so the value isn’t there. They send stuff as small as Sephora which is $10. Ipsy is $10 and I’ve got several full size items from them. They are late to the beauty sub game and are sending things I’ve already received from others.
They do have quality make up bags, wish the items in it were either better (bigger) or they’d lower the cost to $10.

I’m so glad I cancelled. Nothing tempting for $15 + taxes. I’d like to get more chanel gabrielle but you can swap for it. 😉

Ingermaria
I would be tempted for $10, but not for $15. What Sephora does with theirs is smart: have you go in store monthly to get your 50 points with the card they include in the sub (with a purchase of course.) For some reason I would rather do that than pay the extra $5 upfront with Macy’s.

TJ
CANCELLED. Best part of the sub for me was the cute make up bag.

Side note I’ve seen the Chanel Gabrielle commercial on tv a lot with Kristen Stewart. Does anyone else think that commercial is really weird?
Reply
Brenda
It’s definitely a mismatch in casting. The last thing I think of when I hear Gabrielle Chanel is Kristen Stewart. Marion Cotillard would have been more fitting for the fragrance ad.
Reply
Elena
I love the fragrance and hate the commercial. Stewart is ok but gosh… She is playing mummy and Frankenstein there.
Sally
It is weird but there seems to be a lot of weird/strange fragrance commercial.

How big are the makeup bags each month? Comparable to Ipsy size?
Thanks!
Reply
Machelle
It’s a hold lot bigger bag than ipsy plus higher end Products
Reply
Taren
A bit bigger than Ipsy

Nancyisshopping
Pretty much the same size, but the first one had a wider bottom and rounded top and could hold more.

Kristin
How can they have a waitlist when everyone has cancelled including me lol ?
Reply
Brenda
It’s a marketing strategy a lot of companies do it to create a false notion of demand. Even Forbes wrote an article about how crappy Macy’s box is.
Reply
Brenda
I think this month they are including a $10 coupon instead of the regular $5 one.
Reply
Heather
I got mine yesterday, and I can confirm it is a $10 coupon this month.
Reply
Elena
Why do you think that? I see $5 coupon everywhere.
Reply
Brenda
It is on Macy’s website on this month’s video where they show what is in the box. At the end they say,as a special treat you will get a $10 coupon instead of $5. I think it is a one time thing though.
Nancyisshopping
I’ve heard that there is a $10 coupon too!
