I am in shock that I just received my October Birchbox today!
I actually received 7 samples.
Love/ brand shampoo and conditioner
Pure Vanilla perfume
Comfort zone hydramemory cream gel
Ouai Rose hair and body oil (requested)
Eyeko liquid eyeliner
And the teensiest sample of Estee Lauder lipstick on a card in Envious

can anyone explain how this works. Does everyone get the same items or diff items to match their exact profile…what does the curated box mean? Just a little confused…

When you first join, you fill out a profile. Your first box is just a subscription box based (usually) on your profile. Then after that first box, you will get a monthly choice of either the curated box, which is a box shown ahead of time, that you know exactly what you are getting. No deviations. Or, you have the chance to pick a monthly sample for your box, which then the rest of your box will be a surprise. Or, don’t pick anything at all and get a total surprise box. In my experience, the curated box is usually a higher value of the other two choices but I don’t always choose that option if I see a sample I really want or just want to be surprised. I actually like the options. Oh and another thing, sometimes if you don’t choose a sample you will end up getting one of the choices anyway, or…you choose a sample and get that one plus another of the sample choices within your box. Does this all make sense? I hope so!

I think I’m better off not picking this month. There is usually at least one item (typically hair, sometimes makeup *coughPerlacough*) that is a miss for me so let’s go with the gamble, I guess.

They’ve got an offer now to get one of the last of the birthday boxes and extra samples for new sign ups. I think I’m going to take the plunge. Anyone know how hard it is to cancel though? I want this box but then would want to cancel until after the holidays. Thanks for any responses

Canceling is easy right from your account page. Quick questionnaire will help you with different options on stopping subscription.

Sorry for any confusion. That sneak peek we posted was of items that will be sampled for October, but it was not the curated box.

The curated box looks tempting-ish. But I’m also really interested in the Ouai rose oil. Plus a black eye liner isn’t that exciting, even if it is Stila….

The curated box looks great this month! Definitely going with this option.

If I re-sub for October (I may not), I think I’d go with the Lipstick Queen or Ouai. I can appreciate the value in the Curated, but meh. It just isn’t calling to me like some of them do.

I currently do not sub to BB but I would definitely use everything in this box. I wonder if I sign up today if I could still get this box. Any of you ladies know how their billing/shipping cycle works?

Teri
Sign up like on the last couple days of the month. This way you won’t get Septembers box and you can still partake in making a selection. If you sub today you may still get Septembers box.

Thanks Teri! I’ll wait until next week to sub then.

I think I might go for the curated, too. I would definitely use all of the products.

The curated box looks pretty good! I’m not much of a fan of black eyeliner so I will most likely list this on the swaps.
