What I got- 1st Box for dark, oily skin, and coarse/ curly- dry/ damaged hair (My “dark” box- I wanted to see if they truly read the profile and if they make even the slightest difference. I did not pick my own samples.)

This is so frustrating! I got the shipment notification this morning (though the box won’t arrive until next weekend) but when I check their website to see what the samples are going to be, it says “We Are Prepping Your Box” and to check back later. Why can’t they tell me what’s in it if its already shipped??
This will be my 2nd box with BB, and I am already very disappointed with them. Almost all of the items in the first box I received were the complete opposite of my profile. I have oily skin and they sent me stuff for dry skin, etc. What’s the point of filling out a profile if they ignore everything in it? If this month’s box is as bad as the last one I’ll be cancelling.

I finally got my reveals, and I am ready to cancel. Do these people pay any attention at all to the preferences you set up in your profile? This is my 2nd box with Birchbox, and both of them have been completely the opposite of my preferences! I tell them I air dry my thick, oily hair, and they send me blowout spray and texturizing spray. I tell them I have oily skin, and they send me moisturizers for dry skin. It seems like I just get whatever they have leftover, paying no attention whatsoever to my profile. This is such a scam!

I re-subed after seeing this picture posted all over the place and then I got the email of what was in my box and OMG NO. I cancelled immediately. I would be doing a credit card dispute if I hadn’t been sent the Smashbox with it.. I would have been okay with different products if it were any of these things you ladies were talking about but its not. The only thing I’m getting that was pictured is the Tatcha. Here’s my box line up.. (none of which matches up to my profile in the slightest)
TokyoMilk Dark Bulletproof Parfum (smells like smoke and cedar? WTF nice spring scent for a female eh..)
Davines LOVE – Shampoo and conditioner sample. (I have TONS of curly hair and these samples are never enough to do all of my hair. I usually have to save them until I get repeats and then use 2-3 of them at a time)
Number 4™ Jour d’automne Sugar Texturizing Spray- (I have corse curly dry hair, WHY would I spray sugar in it SMH)

And that is exactly why I’m iffy about the beauty box subs. So far I’ve gotten tons of super glittery weird-colored makeup that would look ridiculous on an adventurous teenager with a perfect complexion, so it’s not going to be super flattering on a somewhat conservative thirtysomething mom with rosacea…and it’s not like I don’t make that known on my profiles. There is nothing even remotely elegant or age appropriate for a real world, real life working adult who might not want to look like a colorblind middle schooler. I’ve given up everything but Ipsy.

This link STILL won’t work, even today 4/5. Reveils are ALWAYS up by the 5th! Ugh. I’m getting so impatient! Lol I cant see my April box by using this link, or going on the website and selecting my box myself, OR using the app! It just takes me to a black page any way I try 🙁 Anyone else??

Mine isn’t ready yet too. I left this one up to them, fingers crossed. The last time they gave me three of the sample choices, I emailed and asked why they would do that. If I wanted one of those wouldn’t I pick one, right? They ended up giving me a free next month, I swear that their CS is the only reason I stick around.

I had an “Oh Crap!” moment when I saw this post. April snuck up on me and I forgot to cancel after March’s box of disappointment. The Birchbox gods must have sensed they were on the chopping block, because I am receiving the BEST box I have ever received from them!
Ha ha! Birchbox & Ipsy kept doing that to me when my annual subs were about to end. The final 3 boxes for each sub were super awesome!!! Prior to that, I was always giving at least two products away from each box each month. I did keep BB for one more month, but then finally held strong, and cancelled. I think since my 1st box in my new monthly sub wasn’t that exciting to me, it re-enforced why I wanted to cancel.
Not sure how I feel… except that I am drowning in hair products. After last month’s box, I tried changing my profile to the most “low maintenance” hair options available and I still ended up with 2 hair products in this month’s box.
Oh well.

There should nothing ‘magic’ about anything in my box. THREE hair products (and no; none are a shampoo and conditioner) and the rest are the same tired samples we’ve been getting over and over. I keep going back and forth with Birchbox hoping it’ll get better. But I have no learned that hope breeds eternal misery.

I was with Birchbox for 3 months. I cancelled this subscription because of poor customer service or lack of.My March box arrived warped. When I opened the box the hair plumper spray bottle cap was off and it was obvious the entire bottle leaked. I contacted them on 3-15 and never heard anything back from them. Will never subscribe to them again. To many other options that value their customers.
