Supergoop anti-aging eye cream
Balance Me skin serum
Manna Kadar lip locked
Davines SU hair and body wash
Helmut Lang Cuiron fragrance

I’ll definitely be using the Davines as a body wash and if I think of it that way this all sounds pretty good! I LOVE Davines but I don’t think this product is for my hair type (plus, can a girl get a conditioner? Lol). Love BB. I’ll be sticking with it a bit longer.

Loved my box this month! Even though birchbox samples are small, it’s one of the few beauty boxes that I actually buy full sizes from based on loving what they send my way. Great fit for me.

So today I got my very first (Jan) birchbox and the “free box” gift that spurred me to join up. The free box is Horrible!! The two main products are for thick and curly hair, which I do not have. The other product is for dry and fine hair, which I do not have. I have normal to oily hair. I don’t even want hair products! Then there’s the tiniest mascara sample I’ve ever seen and a teeny bright red lip tint which I will never use.

Any suggestions on whether it’s worthwhile to complain? I know it was free and couldn’t be customizable, but this was really a bad box. Is it better to phone or chat? Is there really no email support?

I still don’t know what I’ll be getting. Am I the only one?? When I had Ipsy, they notify me by the 5th of the month.

holly.hollon

Mine won’t show either it just keeps loading when I click the above link or when I try to go through it directly it says still preparing 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Monique

There is a link under the picture of the Birchbox on this page that says “use this link to view your box” . I had to use it because mine wasn’t showing up either. It will send you to a sign in page that will show your box

Reply ButtonReply

Laarni

Now it worked! Thanks Monique! 🙂

@holly.hollon Make sure you log out completely from Birchbox. The link will direct you to your log in page. Log in and it’ll show your 5 samples lined-up. Hope it works!

I’m getting:

LAQA & Co. Avo Lip Butter (my sample choice)

R+Co DEATH VALLEY Dry Shampoo
Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Antioxidant Serum with Retinol

Supergoop!® Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré (24-Hour Miracle Cream)

Monique

Seriously Birchbox. I purposely didn’t choose any of the selections because I DIDNT WANT THEM. So, of course you decide to send me TWO of the three. WTF! I’m angry, I thought the whole point of letting them decide is because the selections and curated weren’t for you. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

9 Samples?

There has to be a glitch in the system because even with foil packets, that’s just too many.
Apparently the theme of the month is Hair not Lips. Or Birchbox is really changing its sample picking algorithm to align with what people buy more of, because I buy all my haircare from BB since they have the brands that I use and Sephora doesn’t carry them.

-Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray
-Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Treatment
-Shu Uemura Art of Hair Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Shampoo
-Living Proof Restore Conditioner
-Living Proof Restore Shampoo
-R+Co Outer Space Flexible Hairspray
-Manna Kadar Cosmetics Lip Locked
-Super Good Forever Young Hand Cream w/ SPF 40
-Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (24-Hour Miracle Cream)

Reply ButtonReply

Alison

I ended up getting 9 samples as well! I keep an excel spreadsheet of product value for each box, unfortunately with 9 samples, this was one of the lowest valued Birchbox’s I’ve ever received.

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

Link didn’t work for me, but BB says it shipped. They’ve changed their linking so you can’t click on a previous box and change the date in the web address to see what you are getting for this month. Irritating.

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

Got an email today from BB:

We’re reaching out to let you know we were unable to include your Sample Choice in your February Birchbox. Sometimes our computers misbehave, and we’re so sorry for any disappointment! We’re putting together a box filled with other surprises picked just for you (based on your Beauty Profile, sample history, and sample feedback.)

If I get some other random lip product I’ll be OK with it I guess although if I get one of the other two sample choices that I DIDN’T want, I may not be super happy. I understand it happens sometimes so I’m willing to be flexible but don’t give me something I already specifically didn’t pick. Also, my box still shows as having the Laqua so hopefully that updates soon. Sigh.

Reply ButtonReply

KimberJ

I rec’d the same email this AM, although the LAQA still shows as my sample choice in the app. Haven’t signed in to the site to see if my reveal has changed yet. I wonder if this is more of a supply issue than a computer glitch, as my PYS (made first day for Aces) was confirmed by email and appeared in the app and my reveal online? Not mad about it but definitely curious…

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

Same for me. Picked it the day of, also an Ace. Glad it’s not just me anyway! 🙂

Julie B.

I subbed last month with the “free box” offer which from what I’ve read is not at all like a regular box, which seems deceptive. Also, it was near the end of the month so they got to charge for Jan and Feb before I even received anything. My account info says Box shipped, tracking to follow, and it’s been like that for days!

Reply ButtonReply

Dena

I’m jealous, I wished I had my revile. I added to my box, does that delay the box??

Reply ButtonReply

Monique

I added to my box too. Still no reveal, I’m so impatient. This is my decision box and I let Birch pick everything. My ipsy hasn’t revealed like others as well.

Reply ButtonReply

Dena

BB went ahead and emailed me what I’m getting. Was not a good month for me. What’s funny, is that my ipsy is fantastic for February. And I will say I’m was about done with ipsy. It’s all just a crap shoot. BB is still my #1.

Linda

Try clicking on “use this link” at the top of this review, to see if that takes you to see what you are getting.

So I’m getting two boxes this month.
First box I am not at all happy with.
LAQA Avo Lip Butter (my sample choice)
Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion (happy with this)
Dry Shampoo (for the second month in a row)
Detangler
Miracle Cream
I don’t use any hair products so I’m super disappointed that I am getting two, especially a dry shampoo which I reviewed poorly last month. I’m also drowning in moisturizers.
My second box is:
Wilma Schumann Skincare Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads
LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick
dr. brandt® microdermabrasion skin exfoliant
Supergoop!® Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré (24-Hour Miracle Cream)
I got the Collagen pads last month. Seems like a lot of people are getting the miracle cream this time around.

Reply ButtonReply

Kc

Second box seems awesome!

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

I am SO excited for my box! I let Birchbox pick everything for me, and this is what I am getting:

Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick (I love easy lip products I can just carry in my pocket for a quick touch-up)

Obliphica Professional Seaberry Serum (fine to medium)-I have straight colored hair, so this should be great for me!

Wilma Schumann Skincare Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads- I have dark circles along with occasional under eye puffiness, and can’t wait to sample these (I am 50 years YOUNG and have insomnia at times)

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant- enough said!!!

Beaut Protector Protect & Detangle-another perfect product for my hair!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Monique

Oh I hope I get as lucky as you. I let Birchbox pick all of mine too. This is my decision box, if I like 3 or more I stay. Hopefully my items will post soon. Congrats on a fantastic box!

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

Thanks so much! Fingers crossed you get a great one too!!! This is my 2nd box.

Kc

You’ll love the hydrating eye pads! Feels like you’re at a spa- I bought a pack of them after I sampled them!

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

Woo Hoo!!! I can’t wait! 🙂

Julie B.

So I let all the items be a surprise hoping I wouldn’t get one of the 3 lip products but I’m getting the Manna Kadar liplocked anyway. And..
One reason why I decided to try bb and got out of Sephora Play is that I was tired of getting fragrances which I don’t wear at all…so I’m getting the Juliette has a gun perfume. Argh. Do you guys often get fragrances on birchbox?

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

If you indicate in your profile that you don’t like perfume, you’ll still get it about six times a year with Birchbox. :/

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

It’s so weird. I would like to get more fragrance samples, which I indicated when I signed up, but after 6 months I’ve only gotten one.

kim

I didn’t make a sample choice. I am getting the LAQA & Co. Avo Lip Butter. The picture shows a pink shade, but “Hot Sauce” (red) is selected. How do I know which shade I’m getting?

Reply ButtonReply

LS

You won’t know until you get the box, unfortunately. Chances are, it’s Ninza (the deep berry one that was part of sample choice), but it could be one of the others.

Reply ButtonReply

Kc

Super happy with my box.
Supergoop cc cream
Dr. whoever exfoliating wash
Manna k lip gloss
Miracle lip treatment
Korres Oat dry shampoo

I subscribe to Sephora and allure and have been happy with birchbox and allure but two misses with Sephora for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Patti

I’m receiving another Juliette Has a Gun perfume? I just received JHAG MMM… last month. Birchbox is really losing it lustre in comparison to my other three subs (ipsy, Allure & Play! by Sephora). They have the smallest samples, repeats, at least 6 perfume samples a year as one of your 5 monthly samples…I hate to cancel due to FOMO but it’s really gotten bad.

Reply ButtonReply

Katie

– Laqa&Co. Avo Lip Butter (Hot Sauce)
– Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm
– Davines SU Hair & Body Wash
– BioRepublic Pomegranate Mask Set
– Embryolisse 24 Miracle Cream

I like it, mostly because it could be a lot worse. I think the key to Birchbox is to have low expectations and be pleasantly surprised now and then.

Reply ButtonReply

Amber M

I am getting the same box. I’m a little annoyed to be receiving a miracle balm and cream. Overall not a bad box but not that exciting either.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebekah

Ditto! Why send both?!

Liz

Here’s what I’m getting:

LACA & Co lip butter (sample choice)
Dr. Jart Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45
Davines SU Hair and Body Wash
Balance Me Congested Skin Serum
Juliet Has a Gun Not a Perfume

Between the SPF and the Davines (“works wonders on sun-drenched skin and hair”) it doesn’t scream “February” at me… Also disappointed to get a fragrance as one of my five samples. Wish they would let people opt out completely or give them as extra samples.

Reply ButtonReply

Setzie

I hate them!! You do I get a perfume sample EVERY month? I put that I hate them in my profile??

Reply ButtonReply

Jess

Ugh, I am so frustrated with Birchbox!! I swear, they keep sending me things that are in direct contrast with my profile and reviews.
I’m getting:
Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm (my sample choice and really the only truly good thing in my box)
Acure Organics Purifying Fruit Peel (I’m not super excited about this but I’ll probably try it)
Real Chemistry 3-Minute Peel Body (Obviously, I don’t need two face peels but I would’ve rather had that than this. A body peel? WTF needs a body peel? Why? Will never use this)
Manna Kadar Lipgloss (I have repeatedly told them I HATE lip glosses and NEVER wear them, yet here’s another. Are they ignoring me on purpose? This actually, truly angers me.)
Oribe Beach Wave & Shine Spray (This is the second thing that irritates me! They know I have thick, curly hair, WTF do I need a wave spray???? Not to mention, this is the 3RD time they’ve sent me this sample.)
Just such a waste of my $10. I really don’t want to cancel my Birchbox sub, but it’s been a long time since I had a box that made me even 50% happy. Lately, I feel like I’m choosing the lesser of two evils when picking between the samples and the curated box, and I shouldn’t feel that way about something I’m choosing to purchase, you know. Sigh…

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

Twin box for me…only my second box so we shall see how I like the products.

Reply ButtonReply

Peri

LOVE that body peel. It’s great for upcoming warm weather for glowing shoulders and smooth elbows.

Reply ButtonReply

Leah

The body peel was one of my favorite items in 5 years of Birchbox lol

Reply ButtonReply

Elle Em

I’m getting the body peel, too. I plan on using it to exfoliate my dry feet.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

-LAQA & Co. Avo Lip Butter (sample choice)
-dr. brandt® microdermabrasion skin exfoliant
-amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo
-Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle
-Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré (24-Hour Miracle Cream)

Not a bad box. The only thing I will trade/give to a friend is the dry shampoo. I actually wanted the lip stain but is was unviable. I’m looking forward to trying the skin exfoliant.

Reply ButtonReply

Natalia

I signed up for Birchbox in Jan, and wasn’t super impressed with the Jan box. But I’m really happy with my feb one! I wanted to try the Manna Kadar Rosette (Just beacause..!) but really wanted the Dr. Lipp too, and am so excited that I’m actually getting both!! Yay! ..

Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm
Real Chemistry luminous 3-minute Peel – Body
Manna Kadar cosmetics lip locked (Rosette) (Sample choice)
R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré (24-Hour Miracle Cream) – 75 ml

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

Apparently I am getting 8 samples!??
Anyone else?

-Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray
-LAQA & CO. Avo Lip Butter
-Clean Perfume
-lles formula collection plus comb
-Dr Lip Miracle Balm
-Living Proof Restore Conditioner
-Living Proof Restore Shampoo
-Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Kit

Seems a little crazy.

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

We are box twins! I have gotten 8 samples for the last three months in a row! Now, the shampoo/conditioner and the Iles formula i’m sure are foil packets but I travel tons so they don’t bother me. I think since I give good reviews for them, and in my profile I say that I am cool with foil packets I keep getting large boxes. Worth it for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Kaitlyn

I have the same listed for my box! Seemed crazy to me tooI’m surprised how much there was. I hope the box is good! I didn’t pick a sample and figured I’d see what happened. I’m wondering how or what part of the lles formula collection will come. I hope we love the box, box twin!

Reply ButtonReply

AAC

OMG – I would have LOVED yours. That living proof spray would be awesome! Instead I am getting a box of crap. I don’t even understand how I’m getting the stuff I’m getting. Body peel, lip stain (that I purposely didn’t choose during customization), bb cream that is too dark for me, detangler spray (ok), and juliette has a gun perfume (meh).

Reply ButtonReply

Amethystcat

I’m getting the regular 5 but two are shampoo and conditioner. They usually send the conditioner as an extra so I’ll be very upset if it’s just a foil packet. The only thing I like about my box is the Dr. Lipp (sample choice) but I might try the laqa lipstick if it’s a decent color. I would’ve loved getting the Manna Kadar as I live for new liquid lipsticks lol. All told I’m getting:

Dr. Lipp
Laqa & co avo lip butter
Matrix Biolage R.A.W. Nourish shampoo + conditioner
Dr. Jart spf 45 BB cream

I have such light skin I don’t have much hope for the Dr. Jart because it will likely be too dark even though I love the brand. All the shampoo and conditioner samples I’ve gotten from birchbox in the 3 yrs I’ve been a subscriber haven’t worked so I don’t have high hopes for that either. Also a problem IMHO is that I got shampoo and conditioner last month and another shiny lipstick – Burts Bees – that barely lasted an hour. In my reviews I’ve repeatedly given bad reviews to lipsticks like that because I hate having to ‘re-apply lipstick that often and also left poor reviews for any shampoos and conditioners because they don’t work on my hair.
I had mostly good boxes before they switched up the points system and after that my boxes have gone from bad to worse. There was only one sample out of 6 last month I liked at all so I’m seriously considering cancelling and getting a different beauty sub box. I subscribe to ipsy and Sephora play and am happy with them both. I don’t want to pay more than $20 or so on another beauty sub (as in glossybox would be fine but popsugar is out of my budget). Anybody have any suggestions? I’m thinking of Allure or glossybox but I’d appreciate any tips about your personal experiences with regards to customer service, sample item quality, profile matching, etc. with regards to beauty subs in the $10-$21 price range. Thanks!!

Rebekah

Monthly I get Petit Vour, Ipsy, birchbox and will occasionally buy a glowing beets box just to spice things up–of all of them, I highly recommend Petit Vour! It’s cruelty free, 15$, always a mixture of super nice skincare, hair care and makeup. I am consistently pleased by PV and Ipsy, while only occasionally “wowed” by Birchbox. I always like the birchbox, but it’s never mind-blowingly epic or anything…

LS

Honestly, I think most of these subs are hit or miss. The only one I haven’t unsubbed from before is Ipsy. I go back and forth with all of the others. I liked Glossybox, but it was mostly skin/hair care stuff. But it introduced me to some awesome skincare products.

Boxycharm is more makeup oriented and runs at $21. I cancel/resub every few months, depending on the spoilers. If there are enough potential items in a month’s box, I’ll re-sub; if not, I just cancel or stay cancelled.

Luna

Lucky! I actually lucked out the past two months on both of my boxes by getting 7 samples each! I’ve never gotten 8 though. But, I guess this month made up for it. I got the Clean perfume vial in my sample pick box, and that’s one of five samples. Oh well… I can’t win them all.

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

I am receiving 7! I’ll be amazed if the shampoo/conditioner aren’t packets– a girl can dream!

For some reason this one just keeps trying to load when I click the link – same on my phone. Oh well I guess mine is not ready yet.

I’m having the same issue on both mobile, app and the website. Maybe they’re still working on mine.

I could only get mine to load via Microsoft edge, neither Mozilla or chrome would open it.

Davines SŪ Hair & Body Wash
Supergoop!® Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+
Cane + Austin 20% Miracle Pads®
Juice Beauty® Stem Cellular™ Exfoliating Peel Spray
LAQA & Co. Avo Lip Butter (my sample choice)

Overall I’m happy enough, none of the sample choices WOWed me and I don’t like the hair/body wash business but the other three things are good matches for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

Well I hope what is showing is wrong. I chose the Dr. Lipp as my sample choice and the link says I’m getting the Manna Kadar which I did not want. I’m also getting Davines shampoo and conditioner for coarse or frizzy hair (which I do not have). The other items are just ok – hair mask, perfume, and face cream.

This will be the worst box for me since joining two years ago. I really hope it’s wrong.

Reply ButtonReply

Tara

I have fine and oily hair- once they sent me a serum for course hair and once a conditioner for coiled hair! Hence why I no longer have birchbox.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Yes, and I kept getting volumizing hair products, and lots of hair oil which I never use and couldn’t ever possibly use enough to use up all they sent me! I have very thick hair, lots of hair……I do not need or want volumizing products. And hence why I also do not have birchbox any longer.
