Give Back Box – Details on How to Donate and Re-Use Boxes
I thought this was worth sharing since so many MSA readers have given great suggestions on donating unwanted subscription box items. If you have extra subscription boxes (or any cardboard box), and any item you want to donate (subscription box or not), Give Back Box makes it really easy to donate.
Reuse your online shipping boxes in which you received your purchases, or any other cardboard box you may have, to donate your unwanted household items: such as gently used clothing, shoes etc., to make a major difference in the life of another person.
1. Re-use any cardboard box to pack up items you wish to donate.
2. Print out the free shipping label. (They cover all shipping costs. If you don’t have a printer or can’t print a shipping label, send an email with your address and they will mail you your label. [email protected])
3. Mail your box at any post office or at any UPS store - or schedule a free pickup!
(FYI - most beauty items are out as they request no liquids.)
What do you think of Give Back Box? Let us know any other suggestions for donating, as well!

I think there are issues with most charities. I donate to a variety. Often whoever is willing to pick up at my home. I will say Goodwill helps out with medical supplies. My mother is low income and they loaned her a wheelchair for her to use for free for as long as she needs. They have a separate division that sells/loans durable medical equipment, and you can donate there as well. Called Goodwill home medical equipment.

1) This is AWESOME.
2) Coincidentally, I just learned about this this morning when a coworker sent me another link about it through Amazon! How funny to come across it twice within a matter of a couple of hours. (Unless it is a new thing?)

What a great (and helpful) post!
So many of us are probably thinking of Spring cleaning or just clearing out for the new year. What a completely hassle free way to get stuff out of the house and onto someone who will appreciate it! Total win-win!
Thanks for posting this!

Keep the Red Cross in mind when donating things as they help victims of disasters, house fires etc.

This is such an awesome idea! The goodwill is a good drive from my house and with 3 kids, I don’t make it as often as I like and everything accumulates! I like the goodwill because they provide so many much needed jobs! CharityWatch rates them A. If you’re interested in reading about it, go to charitywatch. They have tons of great info!

If I’m reading the website right, all the donations go to Goodwill. Doesn’t look like it gets separated to various non-profits.

Well that changes things for me I don’t donate to goodwill any longer, after learning it doesn’t help the needy .The owner of goodwill is a multi millionaire and poor people don’t benefit nor can they afford some of the ridiculous prices.I donate to women’s shelters and the Salvation Army where they help the needy .And if someone needs something they receive it for free which is indeed the best thing.

Although it is true that the president of the company does make a very good salary, The Goodwill does things that the Salvation Army doesn’t and vice versa. They all have different missions. (Salvation Army, for instance, is essentially a religious organization and is thus exempt from paying income tax, which may be how they can provide things for free) Goodwill provides tools in which people can get back on their feet. A free meal can’t do that. Everyone is entitled to donate wherever they please, and I agree, I will be taking my unwanted items to the local women’s shelter.

This read from snopes is enlightening. I will continue to donate to Goodwill.
This is the most important thing I’ve learned today. Thanks for sharing

I have a mess of things too that I say I will donate and it ends up in the same spot for months. This is a great thing!

I didn’t know about this until recently, and usually, we wait for a big pile of things before we donate, (which leads to a big pile of things in our house) so sending out a box at a time should help me keep things a little more clean – hopefully! 🙂

I’m sad to find out its goodwill but I’ll still look into it just to make sure because it sounds wonderful and convenient

Liz, this is awesome! I’m the same way and recently donated 4 giant bags to Goodwill because it’s the easiest option. As much as I would like to separate my donations for various causes, many nonprofits will only accept certain items, and Goodwill accept EVERYTHING. Plus, the one I visit in Chicago has a temporary parking area and their staff brings out a cart and unloads your car for you, so I only have to break my back getting out of my apartment, not unloading the car. This will definitely be great when I have smaller loads!
