This post is just a quick update on recent swap site changes we've made based on your feedback. As always, please let me know what you think and keep the feedback coming! We want to make the swap site as fun and useful as possible!

New feature: You can now ignore any swapper you aren't interested in swapping with on their profile page:

You'll still see this swapper on the site in swap listings, but you'll also see this red text letting you know you ignore the swapper:

No one can see that you've ignored them, and any swap request they make with you will be auto-cancelled in the regular time period as if you just hadn't responded to the swap.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Is the ‘Swap Matchmaker’ feature ever going to return? I thought it was great, and used it all the time!

Mine still works.

Hi Liz and MSA, I’m hoping to get an answer to a question I have been asking. Before when you got a swap request you were able to “counter the offer” by adjusting what the swapper is asking from you. I can no longer find this button and it is keeping me from swapping. Often times people are open to adjusting their requests to what the other person is interested in.

Can you please let me know if I’m missing something or if this option has been completely eliminated.

Thanks!! Lisa

Hm, no countering should not have been removed. Sorry about that! Can you let me know what browser you are using and if you are on mobile or desktop? We’ll investigate. Sorry, again!

I can’t find the counter offer feature either. I use Internet Explorer 11 and Chrome.

Lisa

Hi Liz, thanks so much for responding. I use iPhone and on my computer FireFox and Internet Explorer. It’s been missing for a month or more. I have tried different ways to be sure it wasn’t a user issue 🙂 but can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks so much for adding this! It’s a great way to handle the rude, bullying, greedy, or otherwise annoying swappers. There are only a few, but they make for a pretty unpleasant experience so this helps filter them out. I think it could also be a great way for MSA to anonymously track problem swappers. If you get a lot of blocks, there’s probably some bad behaviour going on.

This is a great feature! I have someone who has been requesting a swap from me multiple times, I was thinking after rejecting it 5 times she’d get the hint…

Emily

This is a great feature.

Thanks for our efforts Liz. The only downside I see is if someone was supposed to do something for me re the swap, and they fail to, and they block me; then I have no way of contacting them to get the issue resolved. This happened to me and she has disappeared from the swap site. Just a thought.

Rhi

That’s a really good point! I wonder if Liz is able to see all that from her end?

If you already have a swap with someone that is open – you can block them from future swaps, but they will still be able to contact you about any ongoing swaps. Thanks for reminding me of that – I should have pointed that out.

Let me know if that doesn’t solve for the issue you brought up though. Thanks!

Whew! That makes me feel better! Thank you for clearing that up. It makes sense to do it that way.

Carla

All improvements are appreciated. I’d actually be okay if my ignored swappers didn’t appear in the “swappers following your listings” page, just to clean that up a bit. A thought for the next round of changes!

Great idea – yet i doubt if i will use it much. I’m always looking for updates and am not quick to cancel, because if someone is active on the site their is a chance they might do an update. People change boxes all the time. When I was newer i used to buy only beauty boxes because they are the best value, yet now i’m changing boxes all the time. If i use “ignore” i feel as if I might be potentially missing what could turn out to be a great swap. I also feel as if ignor might be used on me because i swap a lot and sometimes cant remember if i just requested a swap from that same swapper for another item. I hope to see in the future instead of a requested item date, a requested swap date from anything from that same swapper.

“might be used on me because i swap a lot and sometimes cant remember if i just requested a swap from that same swapper for another item.”

Me too:)
I probably request the same thing from the same people – I can’t keep track of who said no.

Me too. I’m always worried about if I already asked someone of they wanted to swap. Especially if they had more than one item I follow.

Super helpful! Thank you!

So now if my swap request gets ignored (or a delayed response) I’ll be paranoid I have been blocked LOL!

Can’t wait to start using the swap site when I’m done with vacation….I got accepted just before I left :p

Welcome! Swapping is so much fun! I know you are going to love it! Be careful though, it’s crazy addictive! Lol. My husband actually staged a mock intervention about 6 months after I started b/c I was swapping so much. I was spending more on shipping in a month than what I was spending on my actual box subscriptions! It was crazy. That being said, it is totally worth it & I have NO REGRETS! Lol.

Haha good to know, I get carried away easily so it’s a good heads up!

Rhi

This is a fantastic addition! It will definitely help with some of the clutter on my swap dashboard. Also, it will help with the swappers that continuously request the same item over & over, even though the person has been informed each time that I have no interest in swapping (and I’m always nice/patient, even though it drives me bananas). Thank you so much for doing this; it solves one of my biggest frustrations with swapping!

I’m so glad to hear it will be useful. Thanks, Rhi! 🙂

I love the whole “No one can see that you’ve ignored them, and any swap request they make with you will be auto-cancelled in the regular time period as if you just hadn’t responded to the swap.” SUBTERFUGE!
