Birchbox May 2016 Box Reveals Are Up!

A couple of things about my May box: My reveal/sneak peek did not match what I received at all. Even when BB sent me their “official” sneak peek email, it still was wrong. They sent me my sample choice plus another of this month’s sample choices, which I find annoying. They sent me 2 of one sample -score! Unless, everybody gets 2, that is. Here’s what I received:

Vita Liberata self tanner (sample choice I picked )
Super Goop sunscreen oil (sample choice I DIDN’T pick)
Parlor sea salt spray
ModelCo lip gloss in Morocco (love these, they smell/taste like Cherry Kool-aid
Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub (I received 2 of these)

So I got my shipping tracking but they STILL haven’t posted what’s in my box. ANy one else having this issue?

I was wondering if my Birchbox would be better this month, now that the Sephora Play Box has been made available to more people. Mine looks fantastic! Maybe the new competition mean Birchbox is going to up their game! I’m excited to see what’s next!

body peel – don’t think i will use it if, like the face peel, its made in china

amika dry shampoo – i have natural kinky hair and a ton of dry shampoo that i cant use and no one wants, i’ve resorted to using them as fabric fresheners, they usually smell great;-)
coola sunscreen – snore fest
modelco co lip gloss – i’M certain the shade will look horrendous on my deep caramel complexion
Kálos Skincare Triple Threat Detox Masque – i’m looking forward to this one – i guess you win some and loose some so i wont complain too much, i’m just happy that my mom is getting a better box. I recommended birchbox to her and her first 2 months were AWFUL, she could not use anything and said she regretted signing up.

I’m glad someone posted the link because it wasn’t working for me. But I’m getting:

Not bad for me. This is only my second box, and last months box was pretty good 🙂

Some of you may want to check the link again. I wasn’t getting the sample I chose a few days ago, when when I checked today it was a completely different box!

Also, does anyone know if they’ll be selling the curated box separate this month? I didn’t pick it because I just figured I’d buy it in the shop. ;o;

I still have April’s stuff posted on my Birchbox. Anybody else having this problem?

I am Breaking UP WITH YOU BB!…This month’s box is just filler…ugh.

I love Birchbox but this month I’m puzzled. I selected an item when the email came out to at selection time but box doesn’t include the item… oh well. My box this month has:

I am not unhappy with this month’s box, but it’s my second box and second time I got a perfume sample when I specifically didn’t check off the perfume box. Got self tanning lotion, eyeliner, detangler, and Coola face sunscreen

It’s going to be so hard to cancel, but this is the last nail in the coffin for Birchbox.

I feel like I shouldn’t complain since I’m getting TWO full size makeup items which Is unheard of for birchbox, plus bonus points for those foil Packets but…. i hate perfume and all davines products. And I’ve gotten the eyeliner before last year and the fat version a few months ago.

Our box previews don’t go live on the site until the 10th so any previews you may see before then are not official and are subject to change. I do see confirmation of your sample choice of the Vita Liberata Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion on my end, so please let me know if you don’t have this in your box this month when it arrives and I’m happy to look into this further for you!

I didn’t do PYS but of course got the one I really didn’t want — the body peel. I figure it will cover about 1/10% of my big body….LOL

I am getting 7 samples total though so that’s great.

3 are Matrix products: Shampoo, conditioner, and mousse. I figure the shampoo and conditioner will be foils (can’t figure how they’d do a mousse in a foil!).

MD 50+ sunscreen (always happy with sunscreen)
Coola SPF primer (I’ll just call it sunscreen!)

I am pretty happy with my box this month
Vera Bradley Vanilla Sea Salt – it sounds wonderful! I hate perfume samples because they are always too floraly, but this one sounds great. (french vanilla, sea air, lily of the valley, and cotton candy)

GOLDFADEN MD™ Doctor’s Scrub – I hope this is a nice sized sample!

ModelCo Lip Lacquer – I JUST got these as a freebie – oh well! I hope that I get morocco as that was the only shade I really liked

COOLA® Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face (huh – I thought I picked White Tea as my PSY. I hope this doesn’t mean I get the cuc – which is fine, but I did pick white tea)

PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray – boy, they are pushing the Parlor brand lately. It is okay, I love sea salt sprays, but this has to be the 4 parlor item in about 6 months for me.

For the first time, I didn’t pick a sample, because I wasn’t really excited about any of them (not saying they’re not good products, but nothing jumped out at me). However, I should’ve made a choice. I was hoping I would get some different products if I didn’t choose my sample/the curated box, but it looks like I got a mix of both. I’m getting:

Vita Liberata Fabulous Self-Tanning Gradual Lotion (I’m really pale and my skin doesn’t naturally tan in the sun, so this makes me nervous; I don’t really want to have to apply something to my entire body. If anyone has used this and has suggestions, let me know. I’d hate to just write it off without trying, but I’m at the point in my life where I’ve embraced my fair skin and don’t want to cover my entire body in lotion.)

ModelCo Lip Lacquer Trio (I didn’t go with the curated box because I didn’t think the color with go with my fair skin and dark hair, so hopefully I don’t get that shade.)

Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology (I’m a little worried about the consistency of this, but I’m excited about the high SPF. Hopefully it doesn’t clog my pores – that’s the problem I’ve had with sunscreens made specifically for the face.)

W3LL PEOPLE Bio Correct Multi-Action Concealer (This is what I’m most excited for. Hopefully they send me the right shade!)

Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner (I’m glad I’m getting an extra sample this month! I feel like this is a pretty good item for my hair as long as it doesn’t make it greasy – I have a really hard time with hair products since my hair is fine.)

Overall, this month is okay, I’m not super excited about it, but I’ve been surprised before with boxes that underwhelmed me.

Everyone who is not excited about their ModelCo gloss can mail it to me!! 🙂 I got some from Ipsy & its my favorite!! LOVE my box! Model Co gloss, dry shampoo, eye shadow pallet, Coola sunscreen, & the body Peel which is what I picked & hope works on my horribly spotty arms!!

Ugh. I HATE what I’m getting. I swear birchbox doesn’t weigh in profiles at all any more. I’m getting yet another perfume sample, a black eyeliner, and a hair product that is clearly not geared towards my hair type. I think it’s time for birchbox and I to part ways, especially now that I’ve got a Sephora Play subscription coming.

I got the curated box and I’m glad I did!! I didn’t want any of the sample choices, I can’t wait for the lip lacquer! the shades are all so pretty, so any of them will be fine:) I usually use the WeT N WiLd setting spray so trying a different kind will be nice.
**Also, I always get my box before the tracking info updates. Does that happen to anyone else?

Very strange — I did not get my sample pick (Vita Liberata Fabulous Self-Tanning Gradual Lotion) AND I got two samples that I’ve received before (Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo and Coastal Scents styleEYES Palette).

I love Birchbox and this is the first I’m slightly bummed about. Maybe I’ll like it! I just hate lip gloss!

Anyone know if the curated box is going for sale? Kicking myself for not getting it. Want the Coola setting spray!
