oh man I really want that curated box but I love being surprised! I think I’ll pick the sunscreen oil (I’ve never tried one but it sounds good for dry skin), and hope they sell the curated box on their site again. I’ve been wanting to try Hoola’s powder bronzer for a while, of course I have a sample of the liquid one i’m terrified to try lol.

Liz-
You left out the conditioning packet sample from Davines, it’s hidden behind the Hoola sample. I don’t know why, but I’ve subbed to Birchbox for years, and whenever they send out Davines samples it’s a small bottle of shampoo and a packet of conditioner. The proportions are so out of whack it’s funny. Guess they think you’ll use that much shampoo, lol.

I use about that much shampoo per conditioner. If I condition my hair more than once or twice a week I’m a greasy mess.

I finally decided to cancel Birchbox. I just subbed to Play! by Sephora as well as Allure a couple months ago. I think I’m going to cancel ipsy, too. I just haven’t been happy with either of them for several months now, and I am on product overload. I had $30 in BB points that I used to purchase some things. I only spent $1.37 out of pocket after using my points and a 15% off promo code!
Does anyone know if you cancel BB and come back, are your leftover points are still available to use or does it start over?

points expire a year after you earn them, whether or not you are subscribed

I know if you only cancel for a while, they are still there because I did that. Not sure for how long, though.

Thanks! I actually contacted Birchbox. The rep said my points will stay in my account because you get more when you purchase items from BB; I just won’t have the opportunity to get points for reviewing products if I cancel. And points expire after one year.

I cancelled BB this month. I am new to BB and have consistently been disappointed compared to my Ipsy. I am also getting Play instead. I’m also debating whether or not to cancel my Allure. While Allure has great boxes, it costs me close to $20 (not $15) with all the taxes.

Sorry if this has been mentioned and I missed it, but I have an email from Goldfaden MD to look for them in the May Birchbox and an exclusive Birchbox discovery set. I have no idea what that means as I don’t do Birchbox but if you do and are a Goldfaden fan like me it could be good news.

That would be great as far as I’m concerned. Wonder why there was no mention of it. Hope it’s for all–or at least for me.

Summer is around the corner.
I would be happy with the Supergoop or Coola since I’ll be heading to sunny Cali at the end of May and I’d get good use out of them.

I don’t want any of the choices or the curated box this time. Has anyone ever not picked anything? If I don’t pick will I still get one of the choices anyway or could I get a box with none of them (which is what I’d want).

Margi
If you don’t make any choices, as I didn’t this month, they will just send your box with the stuff they pick for you according to your preferences,

I’m with you. Nothing is jumping out at me, so I was just going to let it be a mystery. I can’t imagine they’d send you multiple suncreens, but I could see maybe getting the peel or tanning lotion with a sunscreen. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen to me! Part of me thinks I should just pick a sunscreen because I’m not big into tanning products (I’m fair skinned and okay with it) and I wasn’t a huge fan of the real chemistry face peel (I also have sensitive skin), but maybe we’ll both be lucky and get 5 completely different items! I’m not feeling the curated box either – nothing wrong with some of the products, but I have multiple setting sprays, lip glosses, perfumes and plenty of shampoo. Best of luck!

When I didn’t choose last month, I received one of the sample choices anyway, as well as the micellar water from the curated box. This has also happened when I have chosen a sample, and not picked the curated box.

Last month was my 1st box & I didn’t get to choose but I didn’t get any of the sample choices & I had a great box. The video this month says that everyone will get a sunscreen item & you can pick it or be surprised. So… I am hoping I can pick the body Peel & then I’m fine with any of the sunscreens.

I didn’t choose once….hated all 3 options.
My box came with ALL 3. You just never know….

Its based on the luck of the draw. I sometimes am late for sample choice and there have been moths where I don’t get any of the choices and other months that I get 2 of the choices.

Thanks for letting me know how it turned when you didn’t pick:)

At first I haven’t excited at all, but the choices are definitely leaning on me. I think I’ll try the body peel for my uber dry elbows, and I’m excited about getting a sunscreen sample that I can bring with me to the beach. I’ll always love Birchbox the most (beauty box wise), no matter what! 🙂

Wasn’t* and growing* whoopsy – wine’s definitely kicking in – ha!
Not a fan of either the sample choices or the curated box (I had ordered a curated box a couple of months ago and was so disappointed that the samples seemed even smaller than “regular” samples from BB. I think I will let them decide for me this month (again) as that seems to work out better. I cannot wait to get Play! and then I think I will cancel BB. Their samples are very small (and seem to be getting smaller!) and it doesn’t seem as if there is much product in the sample – has anyone else noticed that?

I though it was just me! I feel like the samples are so tiny it’s ridiculous.. and then some I honestly thought were empty because I would go to squeeze out product and the entire tube would flatten out. I’m cancelling because of this.. Also you can get these samples free with purchase from most places and also you can walk into Macy’s or Sephora and get samples of products that are honestly much bigger than the stuff I get in BB

I think this is the month I’m cancelling. I’ve been unhappy with my past couple boxes and sample choices, and this is just the last straw. I finally got Sephora Play!, so it’s worth it to just replace my BirchBox sub with Sephora 🙂
I just went to this website and they have a code freecombo. If you use it after selecting the product you only pay for shipping. I just paid $6.00 for both. Thanks Lexi.

Thanks, Alta! Good catch! I didn’t even notice the coupon code! I just got my sample set as well! 🙂

It’ll probably be the Coola for me, though I have tons of those little sunscreens and I haven’t found myself using them. In any case, not exciting.
I’d go for the curated box, but I’ve gotten the Love shampoo before and I don’t want to miss the points from not being able to review it.

That’s happened to me where I get a sample I’ve already reviewed. I just let their great customer service know and they will help get me the points.

Oof. Not loving these choices. Maaaaaybe the body peel. I’ll have to do some research on it (although I don’t like not knowing what the sample size is!)
However, Divine’s Love conditioner is my favorite of all time!! I even like it in a foil pack since it’s so thick. But the rest of the curated box is kinda meh to me. And I miss the surprise.
Gotta think about this one.

Not in love with anything. Maybe the sunscreen oil or body peel, but doubt it will be big enough to do anything except elbows since they didn’t picture the sample size 😛

Oh, good. After a few months of not really loving the boxes, there’s finally a sample choice AND a curated box I can get behind, and I’m even having difficulty deciding what I want to choose!

How do you buy the curated box after you’ve made your sample choice?? Please help!
Reply
Randi
usually its just for sale in the shop a day or two after people can make their choices. It’ll show that its $15, but if you’re a subscriber, once you add it to your cart it takes $5 off so then its only $10.
only downside is you don’t get to review your samples for points

If you have sensitive skin, do NOT try the supergoop oil. I had a bizarre reaction to it the day after. I woke up and my face had little bumps all over it. It was AWFUL. It took about a week to calm back down. Avoid like the plague!

I’m really late reading these responses so I apologize for that. I’m trying to decide between the oil (which I’ve never tried) and the new Coola (I have other Coola products and like them) and doing my research on them, and saw your comment. A number of people on different sites have mentioned that they had a similarly bad reaction to using the sunscreen oil on their faces, and it does contain some potentially irritating fragrant oils, but Supergoop actually describes it as a body product, not for faces. I don’t know what the packaging says but they say “Category: Body” on the website. They don’t go out of their way to make this clear. If I get it I will use it on arms and legs only, not even my chest skin, which is sensitive.

I have extremely sensitive skin but LOVE the Supergoop oil! Makes my skin glisten and soft. Just test it a day or two before you use but no problems here.

Thanks! Blondage, I have sensitive skin so I’ll cross that one off?

I’m going to buy the curated and pick the body peel for sample choice. 🙂 Never tried one of those before and it sounds interesting! 😀

Oh no, I can’t decide! I like the idea of trying one of the sunscreen products, but I like that there are 6 samples and I want to try a couple of those w/the curated box. I know we can buy the curated box separately, but I like the extra 10 points that I would get for reviewing all 6 products in the curated….
I could do another account, since I’ve been eyeing those Rifle Paper Co notebooks… but then that’s a slippery slope, starting another account. Hmm…

I did another account mainly to get the Rifle Paper notebooks. They are a decent size, unlined paper. The real problem is that the pages are stapled in the middle and it is difficult to get the front pages to lay flat. They are cute little notebooks though.

But you’d get 10 points for buying the box 😉

oh good to know! Do we know for sure we don’t get charged for shipping this box?

Thought I might try the sunscreen oil, but after reading the reviews, I’ll pass if I’m able. The Coola seems like a good choice. A little staple to keep in my purse.
Loved last month’s featured box, but this one leaves me flat, so I’ll take my chances this month – I’m usually pretty happy with their selections for me.

I’ll probably go with the body peel, although I’ll only use it on certain parts – like maybe knees and elbows where my skin is especially “needy”. Nothing else grabs me; i hate self-tanners with a passion, and I have enough sunscreen (and I’m sure I’ll get more this year). I rarely, if ever, need to use a make-up setting spray. The curated box does nothing for me at all.

I like having a fancy sunscreen choice. I think I’ll do the oil, since I’ve never tried a product like that before. The ‘white tea’ aspect of the Coola is also appealing, though!

Ugh….nothing screaming out to me.
I will probably take the curated box again, although I have already tried the shampoo so I won’t get points (that my sway me away from that). And, yes, I see the conditioner packet tucked in there too!
I’m sure the sample size of the body peel will cover about 1% of my body! I’m not even sure the full size would cover my whole body! LOL

Lynn
BOTH! I want both! LOL! I’ll Probably opt for one of the sunscreens as my sample choice and then buy the curated box separately. I’m terrible. I’ve got so many samples from different boxes that I’m actually having a little party tonight to give them away…and I’m already plotting to get more.

Lynn, I have actually thought about doing that too! Like a girls night at my house with wine and cheese and free make up samples 🙂

I think that’s a fabulous idea!

I cancelled Birchbox after I got Play. They were on their way out anyhow – the samples have just been soooo teeny! I probably need to cull some more boxes since I’m in product overload but – it’s hard!
