In reading the website the cost is $13.99 per book and free shipping if you buy 2 books. I agree with the other post that it would be cheaper to buy thru amazon. I did join BOM, but I really did not like last months options, but had to take one because they did not have “Skip a Month” until March. This is my last month with BOM and I am not sure if I will renew.

I’m going to have to read more about this. I don’t really understand the “member credit” thing. Why not just charge for a book? Hmm…

So they can charge you without having to actually send you a book.

AARGH! What to do? I love my BOTM and I’m a huge mystery fan. I’ll have to look at my budget.

Oh noooo! I JUST discovered BOTM in January. Now you’re telling me there’s a BOTM of mystery books?!?! My wallet is in trouble!

I feel like $13.99 a book is really expensive. Going to the website just looking up the first book in their new arrivals (The Passenger) – amazon has it used starting at $8 and the kindle book is only $11.99. I guess I am not seeing the value here like with BOTM.

I hear you but I admit I’m still pretty old school when it comes to books and always prefer a crisp, new hardcover book over its paperback counterpart or the digital version. I so wish I could make the conversion…even my father has jumped on the kindle bandwagon(!!!) but I just love that tactile experience of a hardcover. I need to get with the times but I just can’t seem to get there!!!

So if you want a guaranteed new, pristine hardcover book, this is still a better deal than the hardcover Amazon Prime books – The Passenger is currently $17.76, for example (and some of the cheaper “new” books I’ve bought through resellers on the Amazon marketplace don’t really qualify as new in my warped and picky world – again, I’m a stickler when it comes to wanting that crisp, perfect book…I’m weird!)

So, if you’re weird like me, this is actually a good deal. But for most normal people, I agree with you, you can read the exact same books for less money through other channels.

You’re not the only one. I love the feel and smell of a new book. It’s all part of the experience for me, almost as much as the story itself. I’ve just not gotten the “hang” of flipping the pages on the iPad. I have a physical “need” to turn a page. That said, I may hold off and see how this one goes and if the value seems to improve a little. I’m well stocked on books right now so I’m not in a rush.

LOL, this feels like mid-90’s book clubs! 10 books for 1 cent each!!! …and automatically get charged for 3 more every month.
