The “mystery” box is no longer listed in the bonus shop. Guess they finished offloading all the leftover November stock! Did anyone get anything OTHER than the November box with the Davines, Frat Boy blush, Ayres scrub, LOC item, and sheet mask or fragrance? That’s the only variation of this mystery box that I’ve seen mentioned on blogs and social media. I’m interested if they actually did have the “variety” of boxes they claimed or if it was always ONLY this November variation.

I contacted Birchbox yesterday about getting 6 of the exact same box.
They responded today and I am extremely happy with their customer service! They went WAY beyond what I thought they would do.
I could not be happier! Since last month was my first month I wasn’t sure they’d do much, if anything, for me.
Based on this, the point system, the $10 cost of the boxes and the products, I will definitely be staying with Birchbox for a long time!
I’m cancelling Allure and Glossybox. Why pay more for less?

Jay

What did they offer as compensation? It seems the response from CS is inconsistent on this issue.

Reply ButtonReply

Teresa

They refund me for all the boxes.

Carol

That’s weird, because my experience with their CS has been the exact opposite of that…they went out of their way to ensure that I not only stayed their customer, but they also made sure I came out of this experience 110% satisfied. I definitely am…they went above and beyond for me. Their CS rocks.

Keebler

Did you contact via email or speak to someone? I can’t seem to find a number….

Teresa

You put in a ticket and they call you back.

Carol

Same here. They bent over backwards for me too; I’ve been with them for about 5 months now. They went above and beyond for me too…their customer service has always been a great model of what every company should follow. Glad yours was resolved as well!

I ordered 4 and got the same 4 November boxes. Very disappointed. I didn’t want 4 of the same box. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Mandy

My box too was the November 2015. It was the exact same box I received November 2015. Major disappointment!

Reply ButtonReply

Shellie

I got 6 of the exact same boxes. I’m really disappointed. They implied that they had boxes from all of last year. Had they been more clear I would have just ordered one.
I sent an email but I doubt anything will come of it.

I’m sorry for everyone who got so many duplicates. But I’m glad you posted here. So even though I have placed two Birchbox orders recently, I got the free box on one and just did the mystery sample pack on the other, so I won’t get two of the same thing.

The box I received was November like everyone else, but none of the samples were familiar to me, so I’m happy about that.

Carol

I had the same issue; I only spent $2 for 5 boxes and a Sample pack, so I’ve really no place to complain, but I did anyways because like you said, they inferred that there was a wide array of them. I used 300 points to purchase them and I was credited 200 back, but honestly I’m still a little miffed.

In an attempt to get different “mystery boxes” I placed two different orders on different days. Sure enough – I ended up with two of the November black/teal birch boxes with the same components. I don’t think they had much of a selection like they indicated!

Reply ButtonReply

Teresa

When I called in the guy I talked to gave me the idea that they only had 1 box.

Reply ButtonReply

Teresa

Carol, I got 7 of the same box and contacted birchbox they did help resolve this for me. They where great and more than fair.

I was told at this time there is only one box at this time and it’s all the same.

I added one of these mystery boxes onto an order, and received it today. Here’s what it was, if anyone’s interested:
A November 2015 box, containing
– Dr. Jart Water Replenishment sheet mask
– Davines This is a Relaxing Moisturizing Fluid
– Ayres Body Polish
– theBalm Frat Boy blush
– LOC eyeshadow stick in On Point

(The shadow stick and blush were repeats for me, but everything else was new. Overall, I’m pleased.)

Did anyone else receive different items in their mystery box(es)? I hope there was some variety for the sake of the folks who ordered multiples…

Kim

I got 3 identical boxes except no mask and a lousy perfume sample instead. I want to return these, not what I was expecting.

Reply ButtonReply

LoRi

I ordered 4 and they were all exactly this. Maybe I’ll have some luck with trades…

Reply ButtonReply

Mariah

I ordered one of these with my points for fun, and received all the products you did. The only repeat for me was the blush. I’m very pleased with the sizes of all the other items (the blush is super tiny, but that’s fine). With the sheet mask and the eyeshadow stick both being full size, I feel like purchasing this box was worth it. Also, I wanted to note that the Davines product size is very generous! I’m sure a little goes a long way, so it’ll last me a long time. 🙂

beingmetoo

UGH! Disappointing. I ordered a boar bristle brush and 3 mystery boxes. ALL 3 boxes ended up being IDENTICAL November boxes, ALL containing the following stuff:
– Ayres body polish
– Davines This Is A Relaxing Moisturing Fluid
– LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick
– My Daughter Fragrances Jouful
– theBalm FratBoy blush.

I am wondering if BB will do an exchange/return on them, especially if you called and complained about receiving the same. I ordered 6 of them, and while I only paid $2 total for them, I certainly do not want 6 of everything. BB seems to be very customer-oriented, so I’m thinking just by speaking to someone over the phone, they’d be willing to appease the unhappy customers receiving the same thing. I don’t know, what do ya’ll think?

LoRi

I bought 4 of the mystery boxes and added the free samples pack which brought it up to $50 for the free shipping and past $35 to make the samples free -$10. Then I used one of the 20% off coupons -$18. Then used my Birchbox points -$10

In the end I got 4 Birchboxes and 1 set of free samples for $22 and free shipping 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Mish

I can’t seem to find a 20% off code that works for me 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Carol

Thanks for the tip!!

I selected 4 Mystery Boxes and 1 Sample Pack. Since that put me right at $50, not only did I get the Sample Pack for free, I also received another Mystery Box for free. I used code TAKEALEAP for 20% off (saved me $18!!), already had free shipping, and on top of that used my points. So for SIX Mystery Boxes and a Sample Pack, I paid a whopping $2!! Just can’t beat that with a stick lol!!

Reply ButtonReply

Shellie

Thanks for the idea Vanessa! I copied you and bought 6 boxes for $40. I’m excited to get them! I just hope I don’t get 6 of the same box! Lol

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

I used my points and snagged one. Praying its good stuff with no perfume samples!

Melanie

Yay just placed my order! I thought I wanted the new LE box but I checked my lists and this cute bunny ring holder I’ve had my eye on has finally been restocked. So I went with that and 2 more of the cute acrylic & rose gold plated makeup/accessories organizers. $51! I think that’s the closest I’ve ever unintentionally made it to my purchase goal lol Also helped that I used $10 in points and a 20% coupon.

Does anyone else use the Birchbox lists feature? I’ve bought so much stuff from there with coupons and points and I’m always window shopping for “just in case” moments like today. I keep a “Considering” list for things I might want to buy, a “Waiting” list for things that are out of stock (which they do restock often in the past so don’t give up!), and a “Purchased” list…just to keep track of all the crap I buy and leave reviews later or even repurchase stuff easily.

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

I use the lists, but that is a really great way to break them down! The only thing I’ve done, other than favorites and a holiday list, is make a list of separate items–samples that I couldn’t use that I’ve given to my mom and she liked. (though unfortunately she seems to mostly be a fan of serums that are $70 in full-size, LOL)

Mariah

I had 100+ points, and am pretty stocked up on my necessities, so I figured I’d treat myself and go with one of the mystery boxes instead of waiting for more points. Could it be filled with things I’m not happy with? Possibly, but I figured since I’m not spending any money (I used coupon code ‘FREESHIP’), I can’t feel that guilty about it. Hopefully, I get a fun box filled with great things I haven’t tried yet!

Tried to order the Why Not Stay In LE box, a Baggu bag and one of the free mystery boxes for my DIL in Hawaii. Birchbox says they can’t deliver my order to Hawaii. So bummed.

Reply ButtonReply

ProductsAmassed

It’s probably the nail polish in the LE box triggering the no ship. If there is something different you want to order, you could still get the mystery box, at least.

I live in Alaska, so I can completely relate to the struggle. Sending it to the lower 48 is a so-so option… I’ll do it only if I really really want something. I just got off of the waitlist for the Sephora Play box, got to the checkout, and doh, no shipping to AK. I’m having the boxes sent to my parent’s house, but this means I won’t get them until next Christmas.

I thought it was going to work out in my favor once at least, in that in Birchbox’s terms it says that they won’t ship fragrance outside of the lower 48. But nope, I still get my quota of sad little perfume vials. : ) At least I’ve never gotten a dry shampoo.

Reply ButtonReply

Mariah

Could you ship to a friend/family member in the continental U.S. and see if they could send it via USPS or UPS for you after they get it? Just throwing out an idea.

Reply ButtonReply

Kel

Thanks! Yes I can do that but I’ll have to “pay” for the shipping. Just was trying to get all the perks.

Olivia

I have had great luck with the mystery sample box so I paid the $10 for this box, got $25 worth of stuff plus an extra mystery pack. Used “TAKEOFF20” for 20% off and got free shipping 🙂 So excited!

Brooke

I’ve been able to (for once!) stock up on points (400!) because I have not been interested in any LE boxes for months.

So I decided to use them to buy $50 worth of products I’ve wanted to try (Dew the Hoola for one), so I could get this deal which seems much better than the mystery sample deal. Got $50ish worth of stuff, + this box free, and used my 21st box code + points to pay nothing.

Yay! UNLESS a great LE box comes out soon!!! 😀

Reply ButtonReply

joy

I feel like all the LE boxes they have right now are lifestyle boxes so they’re surely due to release a beauty one soon, right? I have 400 points and am trying to decide whether to get the anti-aging kit or hold out for the next LE.

Reply ButtonReply

Angie

My why not stay in box came today! That’s a good LE box. Joy, if your looking for a LE beauty box then I would wait because your hunch might be right?

Amanda

So… I first rushed to add up $50 worth of products… I even have a $10 off birthday code to use. Buuuuut I can’t decide if I really NEED this. I was kind of hoping to justify my first purchase of some Tieks, which is not going to look good after I just dropped $50 here….
Commence with the justification for needing this…

Reply ButtonReply

Mariah

I say, save your money for something you love! (Or for necessities.) In the end it’s 5 mystery samples, which is nice, but if for some reason, you don’t love all of them, it’s be kind of a bummer for spending the $50. At least, that’s what I told myself to save money. I just used points (I had 100+) and the code ‘FREESHIP’ to give myself a free little something, that way I won’t be disappointed if I don’t like them.

Reply ButtonReply

Vanessa

I just went to the bonus shop and added 6 of these to my cart which took $10 off. Then used TAKEOFF10 which took another $10 off! So 6 mystery boxes for $40 and I used some of my points to save even more! I’m excited to see what comes.

Reply ButtonReply

Samantha

I was interested in getting multiple boxes as well but talked to BB first before I placed the order. They said there’s 3-4 different mystery boxes and they can’t guarantee you wouldnt get all the same ones if you order multiple so I’m going to skip it. The girls spoke to made it sound likeit wasn’t a good idea to order multiple. She said “I wouldn’t do it”. I hope you get some variation!

Reply ButtonReply

Vanessa

Doh! Well that’s kinda misleading because the photo had way more than 4 boxes in it and there’s 12 months in a year. So if I get all the same box that will just tell me that not much care goes into packaging orders. I’ll update and let everyone know the results.

Annie

Oh goodness. I hope they don’t send you 6 of the same box!!

Reply ButtonReply

Marcy

I totally got this! =) Even sweeter…had enough points to get this item for free ($10) so there was no out of pocket expense (yay!)

Reply ButtonReply

Annie

I just went to the site to check this out and noticed that I could pick my sample choice for March… not that I’m super pumped for any of the options this month.
