Time to get on the waitlist for the Play by Sephora subscription box!

When you add your email address to the waitlist you will get this message:

There are currently no spots available. We've added you to the waitlist and will notify you know when a subscription is available.

FYI - there's no mention on the Sephora site of the select city launch, so I recommend signing up for the waitlist no matter where you are located!

More info on this box:

Sephora will be rolling out a new subscription box, Play! by Sephora, starting in select cities in September: Boston, Columbus, and Cincinnati. The nationwide rollout of the subscription is planned for 2016.

The Subscription Box: Play! by Sephora

The Cost: $10

The Products: The first box will include: Sephora Collection Rouge Infusion in Peony, Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner eyeliner in Blacquer, Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Face Crème, Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil(primer?), and Glamglow Supercleanse facial cleanser.

Ships to: US (first markets: Boston, Columbus, and Cincinnati)

Good to know: The box will also include bonus extras like Spotify playlists, as well as “Play! Pass” coupons for in-store activations like one-on-one tutorials for the products in that month’s box.

Been waitlisted since August and I live in California. I’m seriously anxious about this! I wish they would have at least sent a waitlisted confirmation email, right? There is hardly any information on their game plan. How they will expand to other areas or open it up to everyone as a whole. It’s hard to get excited about it when all they have done is made you feel left out. It could be months before any of us “non-special” people get to see a box. I know they are playing it safe by targeting certain areas or groups of people, but reassurances with more details would be nice….

I got my invite on the 27th, too, and signed up right away. VIB Rouge outside of Houston, Texas. 🙂 So excited! I’ve been waiting forever for Sephora to get in on the subscription box game! I’ve been subscribing to Birchbox, Ipsy, and the Allure Beauty Box in the mean time. Hopefully this box blows them all out of the water!

So confused. I live in Indiana, got an invite, signed up, and they even took my payment info for the subscription box, and got an email that says I’m signed up. It never mentioned a waiting list at all from beginning to end. From everything I did, or was sent, it looks like I’m actually signed up and not wait-listed.

I just received an invitation to join as part of a member in the trial period for this service and I live in Indiana. I had no issues signing up, no restrictions because of my location, and I’m set to be charged for their first box release on September 9th (and then again on the 9th of every month thereafter until I cancel membership). I hope this helps set some minds at ease!

Just got mine too, I’m in a Boston suburb (with two Sephora stores!)
fyi-only one box per subscriber, boxes ship 3rd week of the month.
I signed up for the waitlist twice, using two different email addresses, one with a Sephora Beauty Insider (not VIB or Rouge), the other one not, and not surprisingly the invite went to the Beauty Insider account.

I’m only a BI. I live in a Boston neighborhood and changed my town from Allston to just plain Boston just in case they were being strict. In retrospect, I may have been overly neurotic….

too funny! I’m in Natick with two Sephoras at the Mall (one is JC Penney) so I wasn’t too worried…I’m curious to see where they will ship from. Did you get your invite yet?

I’m assuming Sephora started this waitlist simply to assess demand. I’m foolishly hoping that once they see demand is HUGE, they’ll roll out the box in more than just 3 cities before 2016. Anyone else with me on this? lol

I think they are also doing this waitlist so they can calculate how many samples etc they will need, packaging, shipping, etc etc. Remember, the internet is not kind, to companies who don’t deliver on their promises, in the sub box world. Even loved companies like Sephora are not immune.
