Are you going with a sample pick or the Candidly Nicole box?

The curated box looked lame and blah to me and all of the sample choices looked fine so I just ignored the email and will let Birchbox surprise me like I usually do.

I finally decided to go to for the Coola spray. The Supergoop! one that came in the Allure/Popsugar box left my daughter with a burnt face (albeit not too burnt), but I still want to give this type of product a try.
It was sold out by the time I got my link, but thanks to comments here I e-mailed Birchbox yesterday and they said they put me in the list.
It’s pretty outrageous that the Candidly Nicole box is sold out as a choice, but available for purchase. If I wanted the box I’d e-mail customer service and asked to get one. They obviously have them.
BTW, if you buy the box, you don’t get to review the samples for points.

Thanks for the tip on buying the box! Because I have the $20 +2 full size item upgrade, I can’t get the curated box of the month unless I buy it as a purchase on top of my monthly box. Good for me to know in case I decide to give it a shot.

I was going to go for the dry shampoo but read some not-so-great reviews online (not on Birchbox — on other sites) so I got the setting spray.
Also, re: reviews on the curated boxes. Yes, you can review for points BUT if you’ve received any of the items before, you can’t re-review (so won’t get points for that item). I didn’t realize this when I got a curated box — but I emailed them and complained a little bit that this info isn’t made apparent so they gave me the 10 points.
Finally, my annual is about to expire and not sure if I’ll re-sub. I’ve been doing BB for two years and really like it but just do not need any more samples. Thinking I can spend that $100 on something else (namely, my Sephora addiction . . . )

Remember the points, though. If you do an annual subscription and review the products + share them in social media, you’ll get up to 720 points in a year. That’s enough for a 6-month gift subscription. So if you use your points this way, for $110 you actually get 18 months of Birchbox, so you’re paying $6 per box. Now, that may not be worth it either, but just to keep in mind.

Curated is sold out! I am gonna cancel. Not enough value in these boxes for me.

boo!! The curated box is sold out! I chose the mousse. It was either that or face cream. I might buy the editor box. I really don’t NEED more product OR boxes. Sigh.

I really wanted the setting spray, as I don’t have one. I also picked the mousse, as I have too much moisturizer. I’ve subscribed to Ipsy and BB for just three months, but I’m already starting to feel overloaded.
I don’t tan, nor do I fake tan, so I did not want the curated box for that reason alone.

Question and apologize in advance is this is a silly one! But, are we able to do our reviews on the curated box for points or is it only non curated boxes? This is my first time that I’ve gone with curated vs. being surprised!
Thanks!

You get points for reviews of products in either type of box!

THANKS!!!! 🙂

I had to go with the guest editor box, I usually prefer to be surprised but I love all the items.. and Nicole! So I couldn’t say no.

My annual is about to run out – are there any codes for another annual subscription?
I decided on the curated box this time. I too love the summer box, but I just couldn’t pass up the selection in the Nicole box. I thought about adding that one on to my order, but I already have so many boxes coming to me next month. Ah, it is definitely an addiction.

I got my email a few minutes ago, and I went with the guest editor box. It’s just that any of the other samples sparked my interests, besides I haven’t tried any of the products from the guest box. I’m excited 😀

Got the moisturizer. Was tempted by the dry shampoo though (the packaging is so pretty!). I would have gotten the Nicole box since I actually really wanted the nail polish, tanner, and cheek tint, BUT I loved the design of the regular BB box itself (the pool with the ladder and floaty ring). It’s so end-of-summer! I know it’s weird to choose a box based on the box packaging itself, but I love it.

You can purchase the Candidly Nicole box separately! Says $15 online but its $10 for subscribers. I have 2 BB accounts and STILL bought a third, separate, Candidly Nicole box just cause its 1) so pretty for regifting and 2) love the stuff in it and 3) I had an extra 100 BB Points so I didnt spend any “real” money on it. Heh. 🙂
Go to the link below, and you can purchase separately without an additional subscription. Youre welcome! 🙂
Went with the Coola Spray but really want to try the R+Co DEATH VALLEY Dry Shampoo – anyone willing to sell theirs?

I chose the Nicole box. I really liked the choices and I have been underwhelmed with my Birchboxes as of late.

I just went to select my sample choice, and found that my annual subscription had just run out. I was going to pick the curated box because it had nail polish and lipstick, but the other three items would have gone up for swap like most of my birchbox samples. Those two items aren’t worth $10 to me. I will not be renewing.

Agreed , were in the same boat. Thinking I might resub ipsy but I’m still not sure. I don’t ever get sent the items I want or match my profile. Both these sub’s really such when your stuck getting the left over boxs

I didn’t get my email either so I emailed birchbox, told them which sample choice i wanted (i picked the Nicole box) and they replied to my email within 5 mins, reserved my choice for me and I got a confirmation email with my choice. I am an ACE member so maybe thats why the quick service but their customer service is usually quick to respond, so if you didn’t get your email yet I would recommend contacting them.

The Nicole box actually looked the best, but I have so many nail polishes and lip products that I went for the Coola setting spray instead. At least it’s something I’ve never tried before!

I also did not get the sample choice email. I did not want any of the samples, so I decided on the Nicole box. I did the online chat and she reserved it for me – quick and easy! I really want the darker colored polish, if I get one of the lighter shades, it will go on the swap board!

I hope I actually get one. Last month was the first time I’d never received an email with my choice in it.

I haven’t gotten my sample choice email yet, but I bought the Candidly Nicole box separately last night, as I knew I really want that one. I want to try all the choices this month, for the first time I haven’t actually decided ahead of time. I have one last month of two accounts, so I think I may go with a choice on the first and leave the second to chance. The setting spray and moisturizer get great reviews, but I could also use some mousse … the dry shampoo I would use too, but the reviews aren’t great. Oh decisions!

Same here. No email yet and Im an ACE Member (on 1 of my 2 accounts). 🙁
I want the Mousse just cause I dont need volume from the spray shampoo, and the other 2 seem like teeny tiny samples. 🙁
Bought a separate standalone Candidly Nicole box (this is in addition to my 2 BB accounts) for just $10 using BB Points. I can never have enough lip, or hair stuff. If the OPI is navy blue (not a favorite color) I have tons of friends and I love to make them their own little “sample kits”. 🙂 Plus the box is sooo pretty I want to display things in it. 🙂

Question: How do you separately purchase the Candidly Nicole box? I think this would make a great gift idea and I’ve been poking around the Birchbox website but I’m not seeing the option.
Marissa
I’m actually going to leave it up to chance on both accounts this month! Not feeling any of the samples in particular and this way I usually get a better box anyway

When I opened my email, there’s no drop-down box to make a selection. I’ve been refreshing for several hours. Anyone else having this issue?

Missy
Mine will pull up the box, but won’t let me click on any of the choices.

I had the same problem, I emailed customer service and they responded within 30 mins. I picked my sample choice through email and she’s already confirmed it. Try emailing them!
