The classic box varies. It is usually based on popular items they have had in previous boxes. My classic box was in December and it had the OPI nail color and some other things I have seen pop up before like the Kryolan blush. Speaking of which, I received ANOTHER Kryolan blush in my February disaster box (should not have been a Classic box) and I don’t even like it! Also, I noticed the Kryolan blush is featured in the design of the new illustrated comic book-style box they are releasing this month so I wonder if we will all be inundated with ANOTHER Kryolan blush to help reduce their overstock of an “unpopular” product. Clearly I’m not happy with Glossybox right now and because of the way that I signed up, I have seven more months anguish and potential disappointment and regret ahead of me. I hope that they are seriously taking in to consideration all of the customer service feedback they have been receiving, particularly from direct contact (as evidenced in the comments in February and March’s reviews on MSA) as well as the comments themselves of the box reviews on MSA and other popular subscription box blogs.
This year has been a year of hit or miss for them and I hope they can get it figured out before too many customers jump ship. They have had a great reputation in the past with solid customer loyalty, but I’m afraid, after reading the comments from the past two months on MSA alone, they are in for a huge drop in subscribers. Hopefully, they revert to their previous method of distribution in which it was late, but everyone received the same thing and all were happy. There is something to be said for the old adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
On an aside, MSA’s policy for reviews is not to receive blogger’s boxes for the reviews that they do that aren’t paid for by MSA; however, based on the curation and values of the boxes that Liz has been receiving, it would appear that while they aren’t sending “blogger’s boxes” per say, they do appear to be handpicking the boxes that are featured on their social media sites and have the highest value to send to the bloggers. Maybe just something to think about in terms of the ethics behind what is happening with the disparity.
Stepping off my soap box now.
