I got this email yesterday from Quarterly:

We wanted to give you a quick update regarding your Design*Sponge box. For this second box, there will be a very special collaboration with one of Grace’s favorite ceramicists. In order to accommodate such a large quantity, we made the decision to push #DSQ02 until May. To hold you over until then, we’ve include a spoiler below, scroll down to see a sneak peek of what we have secured so far.

Cheers,
Quarterly

The spoiler that was referenced in this email is the same spoiler that was already revealed, so it is not much to hold me over. Disappointed in a two-month delay.

At one point, I had around 8 or 9 Quarterly subs. I’m now down to 3 – Nina, Book Riot, and the new YA Book Riot. If Nina’s next box is not fantastic, I will cancel. Book Riot has been consistently well-curated, if not a great value for the money, so I expect to keep that. I also read a lot of YA, so I’m excited to see their new box.

I’m keeping Rosario and right now Nina. Also have Arianna Huffington which seems to have gotten back on track after a bade second box.
Arianna’s first box was awesome for me and I got a lot out of the items in that box. looks like the 3rd for me will do the same. Rosario’s boxes are always awesome and I think she will do a great job with 5 senses. NIna’s box actually seems more on track for me than her last box which was a hot mess. At least it seems like we will actually get things we can use. I do not think either Rosario’s box or Nina’s will ship March though based on where they are in line.

Sooo tempted with the Nina Garcia Box, but at $100 it seems a little steep.

I decided to cancel Design Sponge. I don’t think I will use the wrapping cloth. I also cancelled Rosario Dawson because the theme changed and Fathom because the spoilers didn’t wow me. That leaves me with Jeremy Lin which I think my older son will love and Nina Garcia for March. The DS spoiler came at the great time because I had a hard time decided which ones to let go. Too many boxes billing in March.

I also cancelled my design sponge too with that spoiler! That’s almost half the box price wise!

Anyone hear anyhing about Rosarios box? It was originally a love theme box but its now 5-senses. Would like a spoiler before they charge it unless they push it back another month. :/

I’m waiting for an actual spoiler for Nina and starting to wonder if her box will be delayed again! Seems like they are holding off for a long time to give a spoiler this time!

I was thinking the same thing…hope that’s not the big ticket item, might have to reconsider getting this box.

The value of the Furoshiki Wrapping Cloth is $18 so yeah…really hope that’s not the big ticket item. That being said, I do really like that it’s something I will definitely use and I have not received any similar items before in sub box.

Actually cancelled after seeing this. Just not that interested in it.

I don’t know if it is the same thing but in my culture when we give gifts we wrap it in a decorative cloth/scarf and is knotted in a special way depending on the occasion.

Interesting! Thanks to you and Luci for helping me out!

luci

Traditionally in Japan people bring gifts to their friends wrapped in decorative furoshiki and then take the furoshiki back. There’s a whole art to wrapping gifts and specific ways to do it depending on the items’ shape and size.
