Hmm. I had been up in the air about this box. True gamer boxes are a fairly untapped market, and, as a so called gamer, this had appeal. However….
While I do own an Xbox (as well as PS2, 3 &4 and Wii), I am very surprised that a platform specific game was included. While it is a redemption code, we include it in the value of the box. No returns and no spoilers may insure more boxes sold, but unhappy buyers are not return buyers. Giving us a choice in platform when purchasing the box would have been ideal.
I LOVE the book. I have it in numerous formats and have pushed in gloriously onto others lol. Repeats from subscription boxes is just part of the game sometimes. Not a fan of Littlebits, but both Wil Wheaton and GE both included variants of them. I have some of the same lip gloss, mascara, hair stuff, lotion, etc.
The thumb drive is cute, but I have several already, and I do most of my backups in the cloud. Meh.
I don’t know who the curator is really, so a signed photo of her is another meh item.
I don’t play Destiny, so the print is another meh item.
All in all, I think the concept is not the problem. A true gamer box is really something I could get down with. This one just included items that aren’t a thrill for me. And Quarterly has kinda lost me as of late. The unprompt arrivals of their boxes, no more return policy (so much for spontaneous purchases for me) and the addition of a shipping price make it highly unlikely for me to subscribe to a box in the mere hope it will improve.
