My Favorite Subscription Box Discoveries of All Time!

My Favorite Subscription Box Discoveries

First, I want to thank you all so much for your support and encouragement when I announced I was ending the MSA Quarterly box. It wasn't the right fit, but I still love the idea of curating a box and sharing my favorite items with you, so the dream isn't over. Hopefully, I'll have something new I can share with you this year.

In the meantime though, I wanted to create a space on this site to capture my favorite subscription box discoveries, and to add to that list every month. So we added a "shop" section to the site, which puts my favorite items into an easy-to-browse shop display with my comments on why I love each item.

I'm just getting started on this - so I'll be adding a lot of products this month, but I wanted to let you know about it since sharing my favorite discoveries was something so many of you mentioned in the MSA Quarterly post.

I'd also love to share your favorite subscription box discoveries in this section as well. Please feel free to email me if you have any products you've discovered and would love to recommend to the MSA community. (liz @ mysubscriptionaddiction . com)

Let me know what you think! (One thing I've learned so far looking back on reviews in search of my favorite items is that POPSUGAR sends out the best food!)

Thank you – the ending to the MSA box felt abrupt – this makes it feel more normal :).

I Think this is a fantastic idea! Thanks for thinking it up. I Love to read your blog and look at all the cool things you received. actually it is one of a very few blogs that I subscribe to daily email updates of. Keep up all the hard work, because it is obvious that lots of time, thought, and hard work goes into it. Thanks for a few moments of daily enjoyment that is just for me.

Great idea! I’m always curious what people end up purchasing on their own/finding super useful as a result of a subscription box find. Thanks so much for sharing!

My favorites have been Juara candlenut body creme, I just love the scent it lasts all day, I’m obsessed with it. I got it in a birchbox a looong time ago, and the Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle, I love the smell of it and it detangles my hair. Another favorite from Birchbox was the SW Basics organic cinnamon lip balm, it smells heavenly too. Those are the main things I’ve bought again. I also LOVED the candle from the Little Lace Box last November, it’s Hillhouse Naturals Amaryllis Candle. Also smells amazing, came in a cute little holder. I don’t want to burn the rest of it cuz I don’t want it to end 🙁 I don’t want to pay $28 for a new candle lol.
Oh and recently those Willa’s butter pecan shortbreads from January’s Hammock Pack, were to die for!!!! And the Frittle from Treatsie last month, that was amazing too, I immediately ordered more.

I discovered lots of products I absolutely can’t live without through Birchbox… Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Dr. Lipp Nipple Balm, Egyptian Magic and most importantly Lumiere d’hiver Number 4 clarifying shampoo. I could go on and on with all of the great things I’ve discovered but these are all the ones that have made my regular product list.

CHUAO chocolates!!!! I’m obsessed.

Starting this was a fantastic idea! It’s sparked great conversation, too! It provides the long-term, follow-up we are all so interested in hearing about products, and feels a bit like we’re getting some of your MSA curation, all in one.

Your site just keeps getting better and better. Subscription boxes have introduced me to so many new products that I never previously even considered. I found most of my subscription ideas and bargains from your site and your reader comments. Keep up the great work.

One of my fav discoveries that come to mind is the Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle I got on my Birchbox.

110% agree with you Clau! My daughter and I love it, especially the smell. I kept the sample bottle for my purse and fill it up with the full bottle we ordered.

I think my most favorite item came from MSA01 and it was the Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder….I just love it! Thanks for introducing me too it Liz!
Since MSA and Ipsy are the only subs I had, and MSA is no longer available….I wonder if you could make a post (maybe seasonally) of items you would have loved to pick for a seasonal curated box by you? This way u could make suggestions without the headache of actually putting a box together!

I love this idea. There were really fun sets of recommendations here on this site for different gift ideas over the holidays. Would be fun to see occasional posts about holidays, weddings, baby gifts, hostess gift ideas, graduations, etc. culled from subscription box pics. (I’m buying an auntie a raw chai latte candle as a thank you gift & can’t wait for it to arrive.)

I sure hope you’re not paying $12 a BAG for the Snap Pea Crisps! You can get them at the grocery store for $1.99! I bought a case of 12 on Amazon for $16

This is a great idea! I also love my Bodum Bistro Mugs, I’m using one right now!

My favorite beauty product has been the Philip B toning mist that I received in my first Glossybox. Nothing has ever made my hair so soft in the past. My faviorite none beauty items were the Chai latte candle in the first MSAbox. (I have bought 6 more candles from them), the book Thrive, the eye mask and the trial meditation practice in the first Arianna Huffington box. I read the book and I subscribed to a year of the mediation practice and it has made a big difference in my outlook in life.

I love Murad Age Reform Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Eye Moisture from my Beauty Bar Mystery Box as well as H2O Plus Night Oasis Oxygenating Rejuvenator.

Wow — just realizing some of my very very favorite things from a sub box came recently in the first Modest Box!
* Vintage Map Necklace by Daisy Mae Designs https://www.etsy.com/listing/208066873/ohio-map-necklace?ref=shop_home_active_14&ga_search_query=ohio
* Cowl by Little Birdie Design Studio https://www.etsy.com/listing/212036060/the-mini-chunky-cowl-in-marble-gray?ref=shop_home_active_3
* Al’s Delicious Popcorn – Columbus Mix
* There was a also a cute Ohio-themed coffee cup sleeve.

I also really liked the Flint Creek Good Skin Blend Soap and Kanpekies Peckigram Cookies from the Escape Monthly NY box. Since getting Yes To face wipes in a (now defunct) TravelBox, I’ve been buying their face wipes. From TravelBox, I also got Flight 001 Go Clean shoe bags that I use all the time. And I also like a lot the Perpetual Shade Eyemask from Quarterly (it’s been in the Hitha and the Ariana Huffington boxes).

Re Kanpekies Peckigram Cookie, I actually sent these to friends and family instead of a b-day card, for example

My best subscription box discovery, by far, is Paula’s Choice Resist weekly retexturizing foaming treatment with 4% BHA. After the second use my skin felt was baby smooth. You do have to wear SPF during the day when using it, but everyone should be doing that anyways.

This is a great idea!

Great idea! Maybe you could have a place for comments or reviews of the products, like amazon?

For me the most special, outstanding products I have received are from Net-a-Porter boxes and Kloverboxes. To me they have the really luxe, special products. BB & Julep are fun, I sub to both, but they are more “everyday” to me, and often w/ junk ingredients.

The most luxe item I have received, and I wanted to cry when it was all gone, was Dr Denese Hydro Shield face serum. I also loved the body butter in the kloverbox in (I think?) December. There was an Estee Lauder eye cream in s sample society box that I worshiped also.

It would be great if your forums could have threads for “the best [whatever product] I ever tried”.

Kloverbox is a great sub. I’m mad at myself for not buying another body butter while the discount was available. I’m almost out 🙁

This is such a great idea. I LOVED everything from MSA 01. Last fall, Bonjour Jolie sent out Organic Pumpkin Walnut body scrub that smelled like heaven. Instant love. Most of my finds have come from swapping. Juice Beauty, Paula’s Choice & Dr Jart Premium BB are a few of my can’t live withouts.. Thanks for a great site & all your hard work

I’ve found lots of loves through subscription boxes and I can’t think of them all this early morning time, but I can say that my #1 love I found in my Feb Birchbox this month. Eyes eyeliner… I wore it yesterday for the first time and forgot to take it off last night before bed. I woke up this morning (rubbing eyes and all) and it’s still in the exact place I left it…. on my eyelid and NO where else. That’s a miracle to me.

I agree on the BeautyBlender & cleanser! Also, Everyday Minerals blush. For non-beauty item, I’d have to say the Keep Cup 🙂

Love the new stuff you are doing with MSA. I am not sure how MSA works. As in how you decide to subscribe to boxes, particularly if you cancel one. Could a section of the site be dedicated to reader box suggestions? For example, I am dying to read a review on two fashion boxes: Square Hearts and Ladies Style Boxes. (In particular, Square Hearts- seems like a great idea but I have a sneaking feeling it is not age appropriate for me at 40). Obviously you are sent some boxes for review, and I am guessing you have a budget for to ones you subscribe to, no? Anyway, I have been curious about Bezel Box, Sunset 41, the two mentioned above, Daily look, Moda Box, In the Mood Intimates, and a few other. Thanks for having such a great website!

Bodum are the best! My husband is Danish and you can find Bodum in almost every danish house. My favorite is Malin+Goetz lip balm (I got it in Glossybox ) and Tocca hand cream from BB. I also like Dermalogica hydrating treatment from Fabfitfun. Popcorn and coffee mug from Popsugar , fitbook from Mizzfit.
