Screen Shot 2015-01-13 at 9.46.18 PMThanks Lily for sharing this with us! Quarterly's latest curator is Naomi Kyle. Her box is $50 a quarter, and will include items like games, comics, books, etc.

We also have a semi-spoiler for the first Wil Wheaton Quarterly box:

I can’t find it within myself to even try promoting Naomi Kyle. Couldn’t they get real gamer girl (not a host who promotes herself with pictures in her panties)? I would rather see Rumay Wang (a WoW World Champion) or Vanessa Arteaga (game championship winner) curating a box like this.

I’ve just got to jump in here:

A girl who plays video games = a real gamer girl

I am sorry for the confusion. I did not mean to offend any fellow female gamers. Seeing how the box will contain games, I was referring to “real gamers” or “hardcore gamers” (slang – one who plays for a hobby or sport), not a “casual gamer” (one who plays occasionally). I would not pay $50 for a box to contain a casual play game. They should consider listing what platform (Wii, PS, XBox, PC, etc.) that the games will be for as well. I would imagine seeing how she hosted at IGN it would be directed at a platform game (not board game or toy).

I worship and adore Wil Wheaton, and I have a 20 yo geek/gamer son…. But I am holding off on both because neither of us really get the appeal of action figures– even the pop vinyl ones.

Can anyone explain? You can’t do anything with them except look at them, which is novel for a few days, and then it’s just more crap cluttering your space. We both prefer things you can wear or read…. Things you use…. Are we missing something?

It’s all about collecting and value. If you collect action figures/figmas you dedicate a shelf to them and keep them in mint condition. Most collect rare or limited edition pieces. Some collections are worth millions!

It looks like a Cylon centurion from the 70’s Battlestar Galactica.

Signed up for Wil’s box day one and just did the same for Naomi’s. My budget is shot. They better not announce any more awsome curators anytime soon.

Hmm, judging by the silhouette, maybe Ultraman?
