  1. I’m really hoping for a steal on Glossybox or Blush Beauty Mystery! I’ve really wanted both of those for awhile now, but with all of my other subscriptions, the ones for my husband, AND the ones for my toddler, I haven’t been able to justify them.

    Keeping my fingers crossed! 🙂

  2. Liz – I am planning on buying my sister a year subscription to Birchbox (and the Home Sweet Homespun box too) for Christmas this year. I am chomping at the bit to order it!! (I’ve got ants in my pants about getting xmas shopping done.) Do you think it will be worth it to hold out until Black Friday? Or Cyber Monday even?? #impatient

    • I don’t know the Birchbox specific sales for Black Friday/Cyber Monday yet – but I would hold off on buying the gift subscription until then. (I’m sure there will be some offer). I’m not sure what their quantities are for the Home Sweet Homespun box, so maybe get that one sooner with a 20% off coupon to be safe?

Also – thats an awesome gift! Your sister is going to love it! 🙂

      • Thanks!
Re: the Home Sweet Homespun LE Box… I was wanting to order it with the subscription because you get an automatic $10 off (no code needed, which is rare!) and then I could get that *and* the extra BB points code. That’s kinda what I’m on the fence about 🙂

  3. I’ll be shopping online! I’m hoping Birchbox sends out a coupon code bigger than the normal 20% – I’m hoping to snag the Vanity Affair box. Not planning on signing up for any new subs though.

  4. Liz: Just followed you on twitter. :). =v= I like twitter better then Facebook.

  5. How bad is it that I’m thinking of suspending my personal trainer at the gym for December so I’ll have the money to take advantage of BF/CM specials?

  6. I work in retail, so I don’t shop on Black Friday. I do like shopping the Cyber Monday deals and am new to subscriptions boxes, so I’m glad to hear that they have deals too.

  7. I’m super excited about these deals again this year! I was new-ish to subscription boxes last year, and I *loved* the deals. Excited again for this year! Def. not visiting stores on Black Friday, but love doing some online shopping with the great deals.

  8. I’m really hoping for one of my wish list boxes has a special Black Friday sale, especially French Box.

  9. Online only all the way. Why deal with traffic, parking, crowds and cranky people when I can do it all on my laptop while watching Netflix?

  10. I’m hoping for a love with food deal and a Little Lace Box deal! I am trying to hold off on spending any more on boxes in December, but I could be convinced if the deals are good enough 🙂

  11. Not going out to stores this is why I love the internet. I can sit comfortably and get all of it done! Also didn’t realize black Friday deals included sub boxes. Since I wanted to get little lace box and the MSA box maybe I can snag a deal!

  12. I shop throughout the year and my goal is to be done on Black Friday. My husband believes in shopping on Christmas Eve 🙁 I used to go out on Black Friday with my older son. We don’t do it as much before. It was tradition to go to JC Penny for the snowglobe. Now everything is opened at different times which makes it less enjoyable.

The last couple of years I was able to order great deals on Amazon Thanksgiving week. I may order a few subs if they have great deals. We are waiting to hear if my husband needs to spend Thanksgiving on a worksite. We’ve done that in the past making a Thanksgiving meal in a hotel which the boys enjoy.

  13. I’m new to subscription boxes and didn’t even know there was such a thing! But I sure do love black friday! Yay!

  14. While I doubt any of the geeky themed boxes will have any sales, I am still holding out on adding any new ones until the sale period passes. If any good food boxes have a really good deal, I may have to bite, no pun intended. Fingers crossed for a great holiday season bargain bonanza.

    • I would love to snag a month, or maybe 3-month if it’s a good price, of the Horror Block for a Christmas present. I have someone in mind who would love it (and then I get to see all the fun stuff they get too). I was wondering if boxes like this (“geeky” as you say) will have Cyber Monday deals…

      • Since this is my first Christmas season with subscription boxes, I just got my first, a NerdBlock Classic, this week, I am not sure. I hope so. I didn’t think that the geekyboxes would have any sales, but LootCrate already had their Friday before Black Friday Sale, which left me heartbroken since I wanted a Transform box for the shirt and they ran out of my size way too quickly, so there could be sales. I wish there was a category for the geek, nerd andtoy type boxes. I keep discovering ones I never heard of each time I think I’ve discovered them all. I am wanting a few more boxes for myself and several for gifts, so I am really hoping for some deals. On a side note, in makeing some of the latest discoveries, I’ve run into several mystery box services, no subscription, just offers for one or more boxes offered each month with no auto-renewal. I would really like to find some reviews of a few of these. Just over this weekend, I’ve run into, in order of how much i would like to find reviews for them: J and K Stuff’s boxes of Stuff which has what I think is an incredibly cool format for designing on-the-fly unique mystery boxes, CollectableGeek, HeroCrate from whom I have already ordered Crate 05) and The F Pack which I’ve heard tends to sell out within minutes of each new box being announced. There are way too many out there to get them all reviewed, but I would love to see more of this purchase as you wish mystery box format reviewed and, of course, would probably pounce on any really good Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales on these as fast as I would on any of the regular sub services I am hoping to try.

        • You piqued my interest enough to look these up. There is a coupon for Collectible Geek: nerd-theory. It’s only for $2.50 and you have to add an item, but I thought I’d tell you anyhow. There are also YouTube reviews of it if you haven’t checked those out. 🙂

  15. I work in shipping and Black Friday is the beginning of our peak season. Unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to hit the stores since work is going to be super busy, but I’m really hoping to grab some goodies online that day. What times do the online sales usually start at?

    • Thanks for that. I was ready to pounce on the Deadpool box, but they are out of stock on both it and the option of just getting the Deadpool shirt. It looks like the only option still available for this month is the create your own Funko Marvel figures pack, which I don’t think is something I care to do right now with all of the other options out there and sales possible on boxes with more than just figures. Oh well, I will have to keep an eye on what they offer for January and since they currently offer a coupon, odds are better that others will appear from time to time. I’ll have to check out the Youtube unboxings.

      • I wish I knew about the Deadpool box earlier. My older son loves Deadpool.

        • Yeah, I’ve had that kind of luck lately where I discover a new service just too late to pounce on the current box a box that, of course, is right up my alley. I’ve been consoling myself with the knowledge that I got a really great Deadpool shirt from my first NerdBlock. Doesn’t really help, but that’s the breaks. At least I grabbed up HeroCrate 05 while it is still available. If only I could get something out of the hints they’ve released. Since I am legally bllind,I couldn’t make out anything in the video hint they just released and I couldn’t make out the pictures for the other hints either. It is pretty easy to tell which publisher the hero for this upcoming crate comes from, but that just narrows it down to a massive number of possibilities instead of an immensely massive number of possibilities. The only sighted help available to come and help me try to make sense out of the hints was my mother, who does actually like most of the geeky leaning entertainment I enjoy, but she isn’t really into these things enough to make sense out of all the little intentionally subtle hints that require some detailed knowledge of characters and their trivia. The attempt kind of went off like an Abbot and Costello routine. funny, but not very enlightening.

        • So, I had an email conversation with someone at and he told me that they were relaunching the site with new inventory management, shopping cart system and all of that. He also told me to check out their new site the day it launched, Cyber Monday because they were going to offer a lot of stuff for sale. Well, I just ordered a Deadpool cache they had, apparently they had a number left put aside just for the launch of the new site. I also purchased their Marvel and Sci-fi Funko Mystery Mini collections. Seriously considering the animation cache for my nephew.

anyway, if you are interested in getting the Deadpool cache for your son, they still had something like 27 left after I bought mine. Not sure which shirt sizes they had. I like mine baggy and comfortable even after they shrink in the wash, so I pounced on an XXL as every shirt I’ve gotten so far from a monthly sub box has shrunk a good deal.

          • Chris in NM – thank you for letting me know about the DeadPool box being back in stock. My 15 year old son loves his DeadPool shirt from the November NerdBlock. I ordered the DeadPool cache even though I wasn’t going to order anything else for him. He loves DeadPool. I also like that accepts paypal. Thank You!!!

          • No problem. Hope your son enjoys the cache. I don’t know anything about what else is in it, but the shirt alone hooked me. Anything else fun is just bonus gear for me.
