DoggieBox

Thank you Melissa for sharing this new dog subscription box with us! DoggieBox is a new monthly dog subscription service from Dog.com

dog.com subscription box

The Subscription Box: DoggieBox

The Cost: $24.99 a month (free shipping)

The Products: Over $40+ worth of products for your dog.

Ships to: US

Are you going to try a box? From what I can tell they don't offer any customization, so I'm curious what they could send that works for both little and big dogs.

I had absolutely the worst customer service experience with dog.com maybe a year or a year and a half ago and vowed never to shop with them again. UPS lost my box (how do you lose 30 lbs of dog food?) and dog.com said they wouldn’t refund my money until UPS completed their investigation. UPS’s investigation consisted of calling me and asking me if I’d received the box! And then even after that, dog.com wouldn’t refund my money in a timely manner. I had to file a BBB complaint. Then dog.com refunded my purchase price but not shipping. I had to have yet another go-round with them to get them to refund shipping because I wasn’t going to pay shipping for an item that was never received. So over $50 was tied up on my card for like a month because of this, and I never did get the dog food I’d ordered.

Anyway, not shopping with dog.com ever again. I get canned food from Amazon (messed up order — no problem, they’ll re-send or refund right away) and dry food from Petco Unleashed (they send lots of coupons and they have a cash back rewards program).

You can add your Dog’s info on your account page like his birthdate and weight group. I guess this will customize the box for activity and size.

I am giving the box a try. I suspect customization features will be added as time goes on and Dog.com gets more feedback on the program. I’ll be happy to take some pics of the first box and send a little review into Liz. Box #1 is set to ship on 10/15.

I hate pet subscription boxes that don’t offer customization. My dog is allergic to chicken, turkey, duck, lamb and veal. So pretty much she can only get pork, fish or beef treats. She also has really sensitive teeth and doesn’t like hard rubber chewy toys. Pretty much everything she got for the first 3 months, she couldn’t use. When they finally changed the box and told me they were sending me a special allergy box for her, the next two boxes were great but then her last box, which i was really hoping it would be a hit since i couldnt afford to get her another subscription, had items she was allergic to again and hard rubber chewy toys… I saw the groupon deal that was posted on this site for the pet box. I signed her up for that one and it’s great since I can pick the items to put in the box that I know she will be able to use. Plus on occasion I can choose items for my cat so she doesn’t get left out. I loved the items that barkbox had I just wished they could have been more accommodating with my dogs allergies. I know she’s allergic to a lot, but beef and pork treats are fairly common, it’s not like I was asking for that much… oh well.

Yeah, I got the pet box too. Customization is key for my little dog, who is 14 now and mostly sleeps all day. He doesn’t play much with toys now (and when he does he has his usual favorites), but he LOVES LOVES LOVES treats, and I only want to give him the best quality stuff out there, so a box where I can pick out exactly what to get him works best for me. I think pet boxes just work better for the most part for animals; if I get some things I can’t use in one of my boxes I can gift it out or give it to someone else, but it’s not that easy with dog toys etc. I am liking the pet box subscription, and with that groupon it was a great deal.

I also did the 3 month Groupon deal to PetBox. The first box was a HUGE hit with my somewhat picky pooch. He got a toy we call “flat puppy” and I think it’s his all time fave toy (which is saying a lot since he’s almost 12). He totes that thing around everywhere and even sleeps with it! He devoured the chewy treat on day 1 and the microwaveable puffy treats (which look and smell like fried pork rinds when heated) are a major hit. He no kidding smiles while waiting for the microwave to finish. For him it’s the longest 60 seconds ever, lol. Considering I ended up paying around $8/box, I’m super impressed and will definitely re-sub when the 3 months are up.
